The green light was given for Jurassic Park IV back in January with a release date of June 13, 2014 having been set. With a script having been turned in by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and filming set to begin soon news on the director was thought to be imminent. It took longer than expected to get the confirmation, with some beginning to speculate that Steven Spielberg (who is executive producing) might take the duties on, but today brought word of who is coming in for project.

Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) will direct JPIV. Though Safety was a fairly good low budget film it’s a surprise to see someone go from that to the scope here as the fourth entry in a huge franchise. Obviously he is highly regarded by some big names in Hollywood considering Spielberg signed him on here and his name was bandied about in discussion for the new Star Wars films.
