FX has announced that a new series is in development that will follow Patrick Bateman, the main character from the American Psycho film who was played by Christian Bale, years after the events that took place as he takes an apprentice under his wing.

“In the new drama series, iconic serial killer Patrick Bateman, now in his mid-50’s but as outrageous and lethal as ever, takes on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment who will become every bit his equal — a next generation American Psycho.”

2000’s American Psycho was adapted from the 1991 novel by Bret Easton Ellis. While it was hardly a huge blockbuster it did well making $34 million with a budget of just $7 million. It spurned a sequel in 2002, the straight-to-DVD American Psycho II: All American Girl starring Mila Kunis, which everyone would be best off forgetting.
