The big sports gaming news this month has related to the official announcement of the sequel to 2014’s EA Sports UFC. That game was a disappointment but some reason for hope came about through developer EA Canada’s extensive post-release support that improved the game immensely. While the popularity of the sport has waned in recent years, there’s still reason to think UFC could be a successful bi-yearly franchise, and EA is hoping a digital revenue generator, in the form of Ultimate Team, will help get them there.

While EA took a hit to their marketing plan when cover athlete Ronda Rousey got demolished a day after the reveal – and she won’t be fighting again for at least six months – what really matters are the details on the major features and improvements made for the game.
