Problems with EA Sports World persist

EA Sports World

One of the most significant additions to the future of sports gaming has been through the new EA Sports World site. While this appears to be the hub for all sorts of new online features (uploading videos/photos, statistical tracking, leagues and more) it has been plagued by problems since launching alongside NCAA Football 08 back in July.

Some of the issues faced thus far have been login problems, users unable to match their EA names to their EASportsWorld account, the site being down/slow, and aspects of the site not fully implemented or working.

With NCAA the biggest problems came from how many people (especially on the PS3) had login or account matching issues. With Madden the online play stats have not transferred onto the profiles on the site as they are supposed to. In addition to those things the site has proven to be unreliable. Even simple things like having direct links to profiles or a password reminder/reset were omitted.

Today it seems the site is not logging anyone in. It just hangs on “processing please wait” message. Not coincidentally it is Tiger Woods 08 release day. That means currently those people who are hoping to use their photo to create a Game Face are out of luck. I have contacted EA and hope to have some sort of response to this situation shortly.

Obviously with “BETA” slapped on the banner this is still a work in progress and EA doesn’t want to guarantee anything about it. However that doesn’t abolish them from the responsibility to have features that have been advertised for their titles available and working properly.

Update 8/29: I have received word that EA is aware that the site is not functioning and that they are working to get it back up and running. Unfortunately there is no word on when to expect it to be fixed.

And another day goes by that those who purchased Tiger Woods 08 can’t utilize advertised functions of the game…

    Couldn’t agree more. If it’s that far into beta, don’t release it.

    But the Game Face and Gamernet features are the first two listed on the back of the box - those absolutely need to be working on Day One.

    Yeah I’m a patient person overall with these games. Just don’t tout a feature if it isn’t going to be working on day 1. Whether that be EA with their online play issues, EA Sports World, or 2K with their online leagues. That is what bothers me about it.

    I think this is complete BS. How the hell do yuou market a game around 2 HUGE features and not have them work? I was all excited to see how this would turn out. First off I did get logged in earlier today and took atleast 2hrs just to get my damm pictures loaded.

    Now its telling me on the game that i dont have any loaded WTF??? And on top of that I cant login to see what happened to my pictures.

    I am so pissed cause Im not really into golf but this feature alone (Game face) made me purchase this. And it doesnt work. If this isnt corrected by tomorrow I will demand a refund on the game. Not to be a @SS but its just not right to put out false advertisement.

    Totally agree 100% especially if you want to put a $60 price tag on these games. I think the video game industry has gotten spoiled by the nextgen price tags and think the $60 is deserved regardless if the product is at 100% or not.

    can not agree more with everyone. Bought the game, left work early to go and create my profile, and can not even login to the site. Basically sits there and just says logging in. Every hear of performance testing your websites EA. Tune your damn webservers and database servers, cluster them, do something!! Just don’t put up a message on your support site that says Hight traffic, try back at off hours. Off-hours?? When is that?? EAsports World is linked to every single new game, across the world. WHen is off hours?? There are no off hours.

    Fix your servers or don’t roll out the product! Ever hear of a Quality Assurance department and Performance Testing team? If not i’d be glad to come work for you and do it right!

    I also agree with everyone… I have created about six different accounts thinking there is something wrong with my email and then when i do research I find out the website doesnt work… well thats a pisser. as well where i bought the game there are no refunds regardless of the reasons. I mean the game is still fun but the primary reason for purchasing the game whas the photo game face. When i asked for a refund they told me to take it up with EA so I am just really !@#$%^& P!SSED

    I purchased TW ‘07 and was perfectly happy with that. I decided to spend the money on ‘08 because of the “NEW” features and this is the thanks I get. I think the thing that upsets me the most is the fact that it has now been over a week since the games release date and the most we get is a message. I work in communications and I understand that web server work takes time but not 11 DAYS. You can bet your bottom dollar that if their profits on the game depended on the functionality of the web site, they’d have it fixed yesterday. After the whole NFL Players license thing and now this, it is going to be very hard for me to ever want to play anything EA again.

    I’m exactly the same, I can’t log in and there’s no password reset option for this site. Every time I call them, the technician’s explain how to reset passwords on EA.com which is a completely seperate thing… Also I can barely understand them because of their accents… Would love some help here guys.

    Thanks for your follow-up on this issue with getting logged in to EASPORTS World. The issue with getting your password information to should now be resolved as a password reset appears to have been successfully issued to your current e-mail address, lopezjose7@hotmail.com. What may have happened was that the addressing database on our end was not sending e-mails to the correct address. Please check and let me know if you still have not received this password reset information.

    Thank you for writing to EA.com account services.

    We reviewed the attachment sent by you and found that you have not yet clicked on “Sign In” button after entering your EA account name and password. The Message which you see in red is just the default message which appears only to make you aware that passwords are case sensitive. Its not an error message.

    When you click on “Sign In” button after entering your EA account name and password you will be surely logged in else you will receive the error message “Your UserName and/or Password was incorrect.”

    However, in the case I have manually sent you the password to your same email address and suggest you to try login to http://www.easportsworld.com using your EA account name “lopezjose7@hotmail.com” and its correct password. We hope you should be able to access you PS 3 Profile then.

    Please note that I personally checked the website http://www.easportsworld.com and found that it is working fine and there is no issues with it.

    it says the password is case sensitive but its all in lower case - I need to log in so that I can get to my uploaded videos from fifa 08 !

    Hello, I have a problem with logging onto EA SPORTS WORLD. on my ps3 when I upload videos it says my username is lopezjose7. when i try logging onto the page, this does not work as it should be registed to lopezjose7@hotmail.com . i have tried many times and i know the password is correct, yet it wont let me in.     Now this did not solve my problem, as when I put my username in lopezjose7, it says member not found. when i try to create an account it says the name is in use.     it is april 22, 2008 and the problem still persists. I cannot seem to link my 360 account to any of the games. Besides every different or mirror of ea.com that i login in to logs me in wiht a different persona. Which sucks.

    Its just getting me frustrated for no reason at all.

    I think the idea of creating personas is not a good one. And if they do let you create one they should let you delete one too. Apparently i got to know that it cannot be deleted.
    With this EA is creating problems for themselves and us.
