A series of patches have already rolled out in these very early days of MLB The Show 20. The first ones addressed a number of issues that had been identified and adjusted hitting difficulty. A third post-release patch just arrived and affects pitching and hitting in online play and makes a change to throw meter accuracy. (more…)...
  • Custom Leagues in MLB The Show 20

This week of promotion for MLB The Show 20 centered on the new (Online) Custom Leagues mode. While it appears to be intended as a substitute for Online Franchise it isn't remotely a feature-for-feature replacement and there are still unanswered questions - even after multiple teases a blog and a full stream - that will heavily impact how widely adapted and ultimately how successful it may become. Its simplicity could prove to be a draw for some but the lack of depth and possible exclusion of...

The developer stream for MLB The Show 20 centered on Road to the Show and Franchise Mode was held yesterday putting on display the new additions and improvements. The RTTS enhancements look to be intriguing as relationships with teammates now play a role, immediate upgrades to ratings, and new in-game challenges that influence the outcome of games. Unfortunately it's shaping up to be another disappointing year for Franchise Mode. Limited rebranding rather than the "relocation" being adver...

For the first time actual minor leaguers will be represented in a console video game. MLB The Show 20 will introduce "full minor league rosters" although the extent to what that means remains unclear despite a brief trailer that reveals the addition. Until now players could not appear in the game until they became part of the MLBPA which follows having made a single appearance in a Major League game. Only on rare occasions was a player targeted for their rights prior to that occurring. Sh...

The first trailer for MLB The Show 20 released today. As usual these initial looks offer little of substance but do contain some fun moments and a few glimpses at adjustments that have been made to gameplay and the reveal of new legends. More interesting is the schedule for the developer streams which includes mention of new features such as team relocation for Franchise, perfect PCI placement guarantees, and an additional mode for Diamond Dynasty. MLB The Show will be moving onto ...

In an extremely unusual late night announcement Major League Baseball has made massive gaming news as Sony's MLB The Show series is going multi-platform beginning in 2021. Based on reaction already made publicly by Microsoft and Nintendo it seems it'll will make its way onto Xbox and Switch and likely PC too with the release of MLB The Show 21. (more…)...

Nearly five full months from its upcoming release, and with this season's World Series Champion still to be crowned, pre-orders have already been opened for MLB The Show 20 with the first initial promotion taking place today. Chicago Cubs' shortstop Javier Baez is the cover athlete. He was runner-up for NL MVP two seasons ago and had a solid campaign with a disappointing club this year. MLB 20 will come out in mid-March but unfortunately the tactic of forcing consumers to pay for higher p...

MLB The Show tends to be the sports series most rigid in its pricing with significant discounts typically not coming until after the season is complete. MLB The Show 19 however is getting the unusual treatment of being a featured game given out to PlayStation Plus members and it's happening in the month when excitement around the sport is at its peak. From October 1st through November 4th those with a PS+ subscription will be able to download the game and keep it for good as long as the m...
