Yet another addition to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service made its way today in the form of The Golf Club 2. Originally released in 2017, The Golf Club 2 was generally well received despite a few deficiencies including the lack of any licensing. It ended up winning the PCA for 'Best New/Non-Annual Sports Game' of the Year. The licensing aspect was specifically addressed with its follow-up The Golf Club 2019 that followed last year by introducing the PGA Tour and several authentic co...

Last month developer HB Studios made a splash by announcing the upcoming third iteration in The Golf Club series will feature the PGA Tour license for Career Mode with six real-life courses. Surprising news was recently confirmed by EA Sports relating to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour which released nearly three years ago. Not only is the game being removed from the "Vault" through EA Access on Xbox One but it'll no longer be available for purchase through any digital storefronts. The removal will take place on May 22. This is an unusual development and one that points directly at a licensing conflict as the culprit. It's only the second time a game has left the subscription service. ...

The Golf Club is a two-time winner of the PCA for Best Non-Yearly Sports Game (2014, 2017) but with the announcement today that the next edition in the series will release in the July-September quarter of 2018 it'll be losing its eligibility in that category to the probably delight of fans. Golf games, and unlicensed games or those that don't have significant roster turnover in general, have really struggled in recent years selling themselves to the marketplace without extended layoffs b...
