NBA Live roster update details

I have received the list of changes that have been made with the first NBA Live 08 roster update which was released today for the 360 and PS3. Only player movement was made in this update. No ratings were adjusted.

Unfortunately it looks like there will be no updates to the FIBA rosters despite earlier statements to the contrary. The next roster update will probably arrive sometime around All-Star Weekend.

Continue on to view the full list.

What the hell is this???? Honestly 2months and thats ALL WE GET!!! i cnt believe this really 2Months!!! Still No Scola No Navaroo No Penny Hardaway I mean what the heck has EA Sports been doing the last two months? If AloofBobcat is able to create every missing rookie and let you download it from his EA Locker why can’t EA??? A whole team working on this update and they made a few subtle changes and added like 4 New Players to the game. I don’t understand why they made us wait so long for this! I hope the next roster update aint coming next year!

LOL @ EA. Seriously, why even bother with this? For a laugh I hired NBA Live 08 for PS3, and the Warriors lacking DJ Mbenga on their roster was pretty much the very least of its problems.

“Unfortunately it looks like there will be no updates to the FIBA rosters despite earlier statements to the contrary. The next roster update will probably arrive sometime around All-Star Weekend.”

“Unfortunately” indeed. I’d like to feign surprise at EA not honouring a former promise, but even that’s difficult given their track record. Outside of the surprisingly competent PC version of Madden, the company’s output has been strikingly bad the past several years (perhaps even half-decade).

I don’t blame the developers, as it’s clearly a time issue. These guys have to pump out a new title with enough new features to grab people’s attention and force them to “upgrade” in time for release every 12 months, and clearly that’s proven an impossibility for them, as even existing bugs in previous versions are carrying forward to next year’s release, which is completely unexcusable, and speaks volumes about the kind of time constraints these guys must be working with.

The update actually compares favorably to the one 2K put out. I can understand the disappointment though, especially after how good the Madden updates have been.

Ay, its better than the NBA 2k8 roster update.

i thought antoine walker was traded to minnesot

  11. Dantecamp on December 5th, 2007 7:57 pm Quote

After the absence of the edit-a-player mode, now this…I was all hyped up for Live this year, you guys can go back to early september to see my posts here in the site. But EA keeps dashing our hopes…by the way, NBA 2K8 is a way better product.

  12. Playmakers on December 5th, 2007 7:59 pm Quote

I don’t think EA’s default rosters play any good anyway’s. The players aren’t smart enough on offense or defense and since they didn’t even bother to touch ratings I’m not sure how the roster update can help those to enjoy the game for dynasty mode without making the AI smarter.

It only takes 1-2 days to complete your own roster file and honestly IMO it’s the best direction to go in terms of game play because the default ratings are done so poorly.

Now if they did something similiar to what they did in NCAA 08 or Madden 08 then a roster file by EA for Livve would be worth the waite.

where is the 2k update at?

  14. JuanPablo on December 5th, 2007 8:36 pm Quote

Seriously either 2K or EA have to really step up the roster updates on their NBA games. EA nor 2K is gonna give a shit about quality updates until the other does. Oha nd for those saying do it yourself. You can’t edit the rosters for online use and thats why a lot of us complain.

  15. Anthony on December 5th, 2007 8:38 pm Quote

I was hoping Online Team Play would come along with this roster update.

my understanding is that its still sitting with Microsoft/Sony and awaiting certification. Its a lot easier to get a roster update out than it is a patch like the OTP is.

Hey Pasta I dont think nba2k8 was missing as many players as live.. So I believe thats why the update wasn big. Antwoine Walker to Mia.. hmm last I checked he played for Min T`wolves, nice job EA.

  19. Dr Logic on December 5th, 2007 11:17 pm Quote

    Hey Pasta,

If your gonna say live’s update is better then 2k’s then why don’t you just post both and compare them. The facts will speak over opinion in a case like this.

Well point being not that Live’s was so much better, but that both companies tanked on the roster updates.

But just by browsing the response on OS and the 2K forums you can see how disappointed/upset people were with the 2K8 update also.

This was the breakdown that someone posted on OS of 2K8’s roster update:

    - Glen Davis added to Celtics
    - Carl Landry added to Rockets
    - Jared Jordan & Derrick Byars added to Free Agents (Why just why)
    - Wrong Jersey Numbers still remain
    - Players that need to be waived still remain
-Players that need to be signed still remain

2K8’s update is so much more effective, they fixed alot of the lil gameplay issues, and some trades. Live can’t even get the right players on the court. ha

Hi, I’ve been doing the NBA Live 08 rosters for about a month now. I have a new release coming out tomorrow for Xbox 360 at around 11 P.M. eastern time. I have created over 40 players 9including all missing FA’s and 2nd round rookies), all updated transactions, player edits, team edits, and offensive playbook. Please send a friend invite to Bdiddy51719 on XBL, to grab them from my locker! here is the forum link BTW:

Someone asked what EA has been doing the last couple months. That is simple: They were busy releasing bi weekly roster updates and patches to Madden 08, their true breadwinner. I’m far more irritated that FIBA teams have not been updated. That was a huge selling point for them before release and something they used to get consumers pumped. They’ve done nothing with it. Using playmakers roster changes and playbooks does make the game good. Having said that, in my opinion 2K is better as usual and I’m confident that I will no longer be buying both games. Live has disappointed me big time this year, specifically after all the promises that were made by EA. I’m not sure that EA has lived up to any of their initial hype and that is something I can’t ignore.

  25. Da Birthday Boy on December 6th, 2007 1:24 pm Quote

2K did nothing, and they did everything they needed like the major MIA trade nothing else was important and they fixed most of it. No one wants someone else’s roster that they created random guys that all look the same with unknown ratings you can’t go online with them anyway, you want to pick your own team go to quick pick play and stop complaining!
