A new (even more ridiculous) APF stadium screenshot

Another screen from All-Pro Football 2K8 has found its way out. It features one more in the line of over-the-top stadiums. This one is for the team called the Beasts. Click the thumbnail below to see the full size image.

All-Pro Football 2K8 Screen 13

Okay…so seriously this beyond ridiculous now. That is really the only word I can think of to describe it, ridiculous. It was bad enough the giant bird. It was bad enough giant scorpions, rhinos, and beehives. It was even worse the offensive Indians team and stadium. Even after seeing the others this one was hard to believe.

This is a simulation type game correct? Don’t you want to present an environment that would represent that? Is this respecting their legacies? You can make unique stadiums without them becoming science-fiction presentations.

I wonder how the legends who signed on to this game are going to feel about being involved in this now. After designating some of the legends as better than others with their gold/silver/bronze tier system, and having them play in preposterous stadiums, I wonder if any will be having second thoughts about having their names associated with this game.

I don’t think anyone would say Madden’s presentation is good. Clearly that is a big part of the game that is lacking.

man, you are killing this game… you have killed every screen that you have posted and I dont know why. To me, the screens are making me even more geeked about this game. Whats the difference from having a theme for the statium (bees/beast/whatever) and having some dumb mascot
popping up on the screen or on the field (Toledo Rocket/
Brutus Buckeye/That stupid Texas Orange Longhorn). I dont understand this… Not trying to bash you dude, but wait until the game drops then come w/ the talk…

Ive seen nothing negative (over and over again) about NCAA 2008 looking identical to last years game…

Well with APF we basically just have the screens and some talk to mull over. Now when we see the video tonight it could completely change things.

I mentioned in my NCAA thoughts on the videos that it looked real similar to last year.

I think with a game like that though you have an established history and level of comfort. APF is brand new and still a somewhat unknown commodity so we’re learning as we go.

I am indifferent about the stadiums. Sure, they may be way over the top, but when I play the game I don’t look at my surroundings that much.

I am thinking that 2K thought they needed to add a little extra to the game to make it stick out compared to other football games. They could have made all the stadiums represent real-life ones, but I think it’s great that the team took a step out of the box.

Also it seems like you mostly see the stadiums during celebrations and the intro before a game… both of which I usually skip after watching once.

In the end, it will all come down to gameplay. If it’s anything like 2k5, I will be buying this game.

exactly… I like the NFL more than anything… But when the EA company got exclusive, i dont even care anymore. Gameplay on 2k5 was nice, and like i said before NBA, College, MLB, and even topspin on 2k are still being played on my 360 right now.

who care about the stadium, realistic gameplay… I just hope to god it doesnt play like Blitz…

Ultimately the stadiums may not be much of a bother. Its just from the screenshots they seem awful intrusive. They don’t make these stadiums like this and then not use them in some way during the games.

And just for some perspective, in Madden last year I hated the shotgun sound on long passes.

Same type of deal. Unnecessary things that can take you out of the actual playing experience.

I agree with you on that. As long as the stadiums aren’t obtrusive, they will be fine.

I only played the madden demo (still holding onto 2k5 :P ) so I don’t know the shotgun that you speak of, but I’m sure 2K won’t do anything to ruin the experience… but we will just have to see won’t we.

to each his own… im ready, the screen w/ elway, rice, and stabler is dope… the beehive shot dope, I DVR’d tonights look on the game on spike… it BETTER not be like blitz or I will feel like football is dead on next gen consoles.

I know 2K said in an interview they are making this real football as much as possible. Don’t expect blitz. As we saw with past 2K games, they don’t copy other games, they make their own.

Blitz has been made so they are making a game different from both madden and blitz. I didn’t like blitz either and madden animations have always seemed too stiff with odd transitioning… I believe 2K is staying with the style of 2k5; slower gameplay (meaning the players feel slower), but very smooth.

I can’t say this with 100% certainty, but from what I can tell in interviews and by what 2K has produced in the past, the gameplay should give what 2K fans want.
