First NBA Live 08 OTP nights

The voting has been going now for a few days and it has come in strongly towards Friday and Saturday. So this week lets shoot for opening up a lobby room on both nights and trying to get a couple good games of Online Team Play in on the 360.

360 permitting (status is questionable right now) I’ll be able to hop on both evenings at 5pt/8et and play through at least one if not two games. I’d likely record at least one to post up on the site soon after completion. Spots won’t be held they’ll just be filled until all 10 positions are controlled or until the group decides to go ahead and start. If there are more people looking to play there could always be more games running.

Given that most of the team matchups I’ve been involved in so far were somewhat boring lets vote on the first game. I think I’ll be happy as long as San Antonio and Cleveland aren’t used. I’ve added a few pairings that seem like they’d be fun and would keep everyone interested regardless of position controlled. After the first game it could just be determined on the spot what teams are used but I figured it would be a good idea to plan ahead on the first one. Late on Thursday or early Friday I’ll post up more details on the first night as well as a poll for the first game to be played on the second night.

Hopefully it shall make Live 08 Online play a little better…but for who? Few facts from vgchartz: in the States so far there are 485 000 NBA 2k8 offical owners, and only 194 000 NBA Live 08 buyers for xbox 360. 2k8 is 2,5 times more succesfull, and probably better. NBA Live 07 reached the top at 455 000 pieces. This years product is nearly the half of it.

Question for EA: What are the prognoses for Live 09, 80 000?

Question for Pasta: Why do not You take more care about 2k sports? Obviously people like it better, so more people would visit your site.

NBA Live’s poor sales/player base is why I mentioned getting an NHL night together. I know a ton of people play that on regular basis, especially the OTP. In the peak of hockey season ( a pretty good one at that), I think this would be hugely popular if you got it going.

I have been playing this mode for 2 weeks with my friends and the biggest problem we have is that people keep quitting on us. There are 4 of us total and we would love to meet 4 or 5 other people that are friends and would like to challenge us to a good spirited competitive game.

I really wish there was a way to see who you played with AFTER the game. I played with two guys (younger guys, well younger than me) last night with the Bulls that were GREAT team players. Kinda sucks that it will be a crapshoot from here on out to get good/decent players on your team.

the mode is a lot of fun though, especially when you have people to evenly distribute the ball
