Night games in the NCAA Football 09 demo? Apparently there are if you set your console’s date to November or December. Both the standard play now game and the mascot game will take place at night if you do so. Thanks to NCAA Strategies for this info.
EA Sports has released a recruiting guide for NCAA Football 09. The three pages cover the basics of recruiting. You can check it out in PDF form by clicking here. The best addition to recruiting this year should be the “Quick Call” which will trim down on the monotony of and time spent making phone calls.

Thanks for the info pasta. Gotta check those night games out. NCAA is more and more looking like it will exceed the high expectations I have for it.
…looks like activity is booming. When you got people going nuts about being “first” on your blog you know you hit the big time

June 26, 2008 at 6:22 am

Dang might have to try it out soon

Did EA bring back the create-a-school feature? i thought that was the best thing about NCAA Football

I don’t know…I’ve had the demo since it came out and I haven’t played a whole game yet. I’m also not that excited about the game this year. I mean, they didn’t fix Campus Legend which was the feature I was most excited about last year. I say they didn’t fix it…what do I know, I haven’t even played the game. But I do know that last year’s game would have been one of the GOATs if they had made the playbooks in CL better. I’m still waiting on all the features from ‘04 before I get too excited.
I hate the NFL, but I find myself wanting to play Madden more this year. The stadium shots outside, the play-by-play, and the whole Rewind feature are calling my name. I love College Football so I’m hoping that next year’s game blows me away.

There is no create-a-school in 09.
June 26, 2008 at 8:11 am
yes i wanna see the new lighting systems

CL on next-gen is a wasted feature which needs to be scraped in favor of a deeper dynasty mode.

No way. Campus legend is the best part of the game I might not even pick up NCAA if it wasn’t for that mode.
June 26, 2008 at 8:41 am
yeah the plays are the worst part of superstar mode in madden….i dont know how it is in CL but in madden its the same recycled plays over and over and over…hundreds of plays and you can only use 20…makes no since

pasta- do we have progressive skies in this game or does a 230 game in november stay light the whole time?? Does anyone know that answer id be thankful to know, thanks!!!
June 26, 2008 at 9:11 am
No progressive lighting in 09. They had to take it out this year due to the all-new lighting system put in place, but it sounds like they want to/will bring it back in 2010.
June 26, 2008 at 9:45 am
The night games look nice.
June 26, 2008 at 9:47 am
that there is NO progressive lighting like last year is just plain lazy.
That ONE element makes me literally NOT buy the game. How boring to wathc the same weather the entire 4 quarters of play. AT least make it like MLB 08 whwre it LOOKS like it makes sense that the game would stay the same day time…
6pm sundown for 3 hrs! Come on?! thats just stupid….

The new lighting system looks good but is a little overrated without progressive lighting. It’s really taking a step backwards. Progressive lighting makes a huge difference in making the game environment feel alive. Disappointed the took it out this year. Typical EA move.

The more I play the demo the more I like it. The visuals are impressive and the animations are outstanding…..

So does the no progressive lighting feature this year mean that day games will not turn into night as the game progresses along? So if a game starts at 6 pm like it does on the demo, that is the exact lighting we are stuck with for all 4 quarters?
I felt that the best progressive lighting feature in any football game to date came in NCAA Football 07 on 360. The on field shadows moved along in real time, and disappeared as it became dark. Shadows did not move in the 08 game, however day games progressed to night depending on the month, and time of day the game started.

I think the new lighting system is an overhyped joke. It’s not even progressive! No way is it better than NCAA ‘07. In fact, NCAA ‘07 looked better period, except for the player models. Player models are the only place ‘09 excels graphically. Everything else is trash. The textures and colors are all murky and dirty-looking.
Nope. I’ll be skipping NCAA ‘09. I bought ‘07 for $4 and it’s an excellent game. The NCAA Team needs snap out of it and realize that they are going backwards just like the Madden Team.
P.S. I played a night game of NCAA ‘09. My gawd… it looks terrible, lol! You gotta be kidding me.

Anybody who says ‘07 on 360 was the best game is seriously on some medication. You couldn’t customize players, the dynasty was garbage on the kickers looked like superheroes they were so big.
I mean, I get that the games aren’t living up to the hype, but let’s not get out of control with the criticisms.

I switched my consoles date to December 25th, to do the “Happy Holidays!” check. And it’s there. Mr. Nessler greets you with the Christmas intro. But down to business… I liked what I saw with the night game, at least on the field level. I don’t know if the Horse Shoe is supposed to be like this or not, but I didn’t see ANY actual lights. Nothing. I expected to see the big bulbs towering over the stadiums rim, but nothing was there! Now, like I said before, I have never been to Ohio States stadium, but here at Oregon, Autzen doesn’t have a “Magical Lighting System” that just oozes from the sky… Although I’m sure ole Phil Knight could probably buy us somthing like that!! But seriously, Pasta… Can you explain this?

what a turd

Horse Shoe:
The stadium does not have field lights and when night events do occur special lights must be temporarily installed usually by Musco Lighting (as happened in the 2005 game against Texas and the 2006 nationally televised game with Michigan)

My boy and I were playing the demo at night (separately), but talking on the headset, and we said the same thing. WHERE ARE THE LIGHTS?
So I’ve looked up some pictures via google, and there are NO LIGHTS!!! They must have them hidden, because you can’t see them. I’ve been to Ohio State at least 5 times in the last 3 years and I don’t remember big light poles. Good job OSU.

You mean your mom’s breath? Yes, it does smell quite turdy.

You’re not listening. I didn’t say it was “the best game”. I clearly said it looked the best, and yes it does. The models have WAY more poly’s which is simply a technical fact, the textures are far richer on those models and the lighting is sensible and not overdone like ‘09. ‘09 plays better yes, but it does not look better.

Thanks for the research Shomari. I didn’t think that EA would just overlook putting actual lights in the game
