A new trailer has been released for NHL 09 featuring the recently announced EA Sports Hockey League. This offers a progression and combination of the Be A Pro and Online Team Play modes within a giant league environment, all while playing for a created team and attempting to improve as an individual similar to an MMO.
Continue on to view the trailer in which producer David Littman discusses the Hockey League feature along with gameplay footage from the unique camera perspectives.

First!!
This looks sweet… I wonder if they implemented the custom face feature ala Rainbow Six Vegas?

This is sweet, how awsome would it be if they implement it into Madden? I would be the best kicker/punter in the game.

I would suspect they keep on working on it and fine tune it before they put it in Madden sine that is one of their two largest games.

I thought Gagne died???
Oh, and I can’t wait to see how the EA servers fail us on this one.

Haha Gagne didn’t die. I don’t know if you were joking or not but he’s alive.

This is definitely going to be a great feature if it works. Say what you want about EA (and I do say a lot of negative things about them) but EA Canada has been pretty darn solid…wish they expanded and worked on all of EA’s games…

WOW! Sports game of the year? how about game of the year?

Isnt the Be A Pro mode in Live 09? And if so, wouldnt it only be logical to include this into Live? It would kick SO MUCH ASS if that happened in Live. Madden already has Superstar mode so it would be awesome if they put this in future Madden & Live titles.

I was referring to the multitude of concussions he’s had over his career, including the nasty one that forced him out most of this year. I thought there were some serious questions as to whether he would ever play again.

This is unreal….Talk about a next-gen innovation….
Yes, I can finally play net and not have to worry about my poor skating ability…
July 27, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Wow that is going to be awesome … looks like im getting it again this year…

Pasta,
I know that EA hasn’t announced any features including classic teams. Do you know if EA will be looking into classic teams in future iterations of the franchise?
Also, do you know if classic jerseys are in this year’s game? Would love to see Hartford’s greens….

As of today we find out that the PS3 and the XBox 360 versions are different. You will not be able to download custom songs to play during the game if you have a PS3. Next thing we’ll hear is PS3 will run at 30FPS not at 60 like confirmed. Guess EA took all of us PS3 owners for a ride again. It won’t stop me from purchasing the game, but I wouls have loved to come out to “Boys of Winter” when Sid Crosby and mates come thru the tunnel. Now I’ll have to hear some crappy song instead. And EA would need to get a license to have any music from any artist show up on the PS3 version, so I won’t hear For Whom The Bells Tolls when the Monsters come out of the tunnel, like we do here at the Q.
