Questions About NFL Head Coach 09?

Do you have any questions about NFL Head Coach 09? Producer Josh Looman has offered to take the time to respond to topics the community would be like to know more about. I’ll be compiling a list of questions to send off within the next day or two so make sure to leave your suggestions in the comments.

It’s hard to believe that not only is Madden 09 two weeks away but so is Head Coach (if purchasing the 20th Anniversary Edition). It’s going to be difficult budgeting time with all the sports titles releasing over the next two plus months.

In the future do you see head coach playn a more major role in madden instead of just lame play creater? Like a double disk that lets you use head coach during the off season for the draft and free agent signings and trades?

Will there be classic teams and alternate uniforms? Also, will there be any downloadable content in the future and, if yes, what will that content be (i.e. extra teams, classic coaches like Madden)?

    Oh, second……

It seems as if it would be in the best interest of EA to release Head Coach as a package deal with Madden every year & not just this year. I personally was not going to purchase Head Coach this year unless it was packaged with Madden 09 just for the simple fact that there are so many quality titles coming out & I probably won’t have much time for Head Coach. For $89.99 you can’t beat it & worse case you can always use it as a play creator.

I know this has probably been answered before but…

    1) Can you run option plays in the game?
    2) How would you be able to import playbooks from NCAA 09 into head coach?

I don’t think you can import PB’s from NCAA n2 HC (NOT 100% sure on that) I think it only works wit MADDEN sum1 correct me if i’m wrong

I heard somewhere that college coaches, like Urban Meyer for instance, can become coaches in NFL HC ‘09 and that they would bring the playbooks that they run in college with them. Any clarification on this would be appreciatd

It has been said that future games in the head coach franchise depend on sales of this one, so are you tracking the collectors edition as head coach sales? If head coach does well would you consider making a college head coach?

    I only have a few nit-picky questions:

    1) How many debilatating bugs can we expect from the game? Can we get our hopes up by expecting only 5 or 6, or do you think the game will be consistent with past EA titles and ship with 10 or 12 easily noticable defects that render the game completely unenjoyable?
    2) How many months will it be before a patch is released to fix these issues? I know EA likes to release most football patches around Christmas, but is it possible we may luck out and get one by Thanksgiving? That would be super cool.
    3) Will people who purchase the game be paid some sort of stipend for beta testing the game? A lot of us have been ‘testing’ your games after release for some time now. And is it too much to expect back pay?
    4) Will Peter Moore continue to give us completely honest and informative posts on his blog? It has been SO refreshing to see EA’s leader strip away all the hype and interact with the gaming community in such an honest and straitforward way!
    5) When do you expect to fully incorporate the ESPN and NFL Films brands into the game? I’d love for my grandchildren to be able to see these features, but no rush.

I dont know if you would know this but players that are generated from the game..do we have like 1st round busts and late round sleepers or are the st rounders good and the late rounder suck?

Can we have a more in-depth look at what creating a coach will be like? Nothing really has been said about this, and I think most people will want to be their own coach rather than take control of an existing coach.

i went to the link u gave with the few pages provided from the prima guide, that was cool stuff…..

i was wondering more about how well the wear and tear system works for injuries. a little more in depth word on this would be cool…

and also i read that FAs pop up on your clipboard and if you’re interested you can enter the bidding war. i assume you can seek out the FAs you’re interested in and dont have to just wait around for them to randomly pop up, correct?

also with the last HC u spent your week running practices and all that which usually ended up being a waste of time. could he expound on the gameplan choices or whatever is equated to the week to week practicing in this game?

    Couple of questions

    1) I had read on another forum that if we start the year prior to the draft, the teams will have all the picks that they’ve accumulated (in real life). Did I read that correctly? Or – will we be able to truly change history (i.e. trading Jared Allen somewhere else for a different package of players/picks)?

    2) Given the fact that the Madden 09 demo will soon be released, I’m wondering if there will also be a playable demo of sorts for NFLHC? Would be cool to see.

This doesn’t have anything to do with Head Coach 09, but, I was just watching Sportsnet TV in my home, and they hade a story about Madden 09 and Bucs Favre screen you came across. It appears EA is prepared for Favre to return. That screen you came across a few days ago is one of four pictures of Farve EA has prepared for his return. One player model with him in a Packers uni, and three others of him in the Vikings, Jets and Bucs unis. If he ends up going to someone other than those four teams I’m not sure what EA will do. Either way, EA is prepared for Favre to return, and he will be in Madden 09. As for the cover, it looks like they will leave the cover unchanged.

Does EA have plans to introduce head coach press conferences into the gameplay? These post game press conferences go a long way towards connecting the public with the team’s head coach, and in my opinion, are a realistic and needed feature in a game like this.

    Pasta,

Can you ask him if this game is going to move to an April release date (more draft related)?

Can they patch the draft classes so they scramble the players… ie. so if you play through the 15 years you don’t fall into the pattern of taking this guy this year and that guy that year…

Can they patch or sell more draft years on psn xbL?

Is graphical online play top of the list for next year?

    Is next year a certainty?

    I’ll have more…

Logistically, is a online franchise mode possible?

I like the idea about pregame and post game press conferences. They ask the coach Q’s and depending on the responses the media, players (players read the paper) owner, and staff are effected.

How is player progression tooled? If you play your 2nd string a lot will they get better then if they sit the bench, or won’t it matter? If you have a great season will you get better progression then if you don’t?

Is it 5 minute quarters again like the old gen? Are the 5 minute quarters locked?

This seems like it will be a good game; but, I’m just not excited about it like I was the first game. I guess I have too many doubts because the first one was so dissapointing.

    College Coaches:
Larry Widebacker-Florida-Brings spread option with a lot of QB runs
Anthony Dubb-Memphis-Brings Pistol attack and 4-2-5 defense
    Gary Hammermil-Michigan-brings West Virginia/Michigan spread
Don Miraldi-Texas Tech-Brings 'Air Raid' Texas Tech passing attack
    Tom Bosco-Middle Tennessee State-Brings Wishbone
General Sanders-Army-Brings Army rushing attack and 4-2-5 defense
    Chris Staymates-Florida-same as Larry Widebacker
Greg Hart-Old NFL coach-Brings Run and Shoot
    Joe Gibson-Texas State-Brings the Wing T
    J.R. Scarpati-Navy-Brings the Option attack
    Lake Watterson-UCLA-Brings College Attack playbook
    Tony Dyal-Kansas State-Brings Wishbone and 3-3-5 defense

There's obviously some equivelents here like Larry Widebacker and Chris Staymates are Urban Meyer, Gary Hammermil is Rich Rodriguez, Don Miraldi is Mike Leach, etc.
