Early 2009 Brings New Trio of Releases

Generally the months of January and February are relatively thin when it comes to sports releases. The MLB titles arrive either in the last week of February or the first week of March. Leading up to that there has usually been one or two games released early on in the year. In the past that has ended up as a Street game (NBA, NFL, FIFA).

This year there is more variety being offered. First 2K Sports announced MLB Front Office Manager (January 27th for $39.99). Then EA Sports revealed Nascar: Kart Racing (February 10th for $39.99) and 3 on 3 NHL Arcade (February for $10). All three come in with the lower price points and offer something unique and aimed at different audiences. FOM and NHL are coming to the 360 and PS3 while Kart Racing is headed to the Wii.

So which of these games are you most looking forward to? Vote in the poll and leave your thoughts in the comments.

I am incredibly excited for Front Office, might be the only game I buy this year besides NCAA Football. It has awesome potential and I can't handle the terrible gameplay of the MLB 2K, so hopefully the front office stuff in the game is as in depth as I hope it is to offset not playing in the games.

    Thanks for the info

Its pretty normal not to have anything right now. Last year we got cover athletes and early info for The Show in mid-December. Then they ramp up in January. It's possible we'll get the same from The Show within the next week or two.

How come nothing has been released on MLB The Show 09 yet?

I don't think we'll be seeing any more of Head Coach. If we do it won't be next year.

I doubt they'll be anything more coming for NCAA Basketball. Possible, but I haven't heard anything about it.

hey pasta i know this is kinda irrelevent, but do you know if there is goin to be a patch to fix the all-time team rosters on ncaa 09 basketball, cause those things are messed up. thanks.
  • so pasta, r they making NFL HC 10. i really hope they r. i loved 09 and i also even liked the first head coach. i am also looking forward to office manager
  • There is, at least for baseball. It didn't work for football. But baseball management sims have been successful over the years. That has been on the PC though, we'll see how well it translates to consoles.
  • None of these games are on my radar. Probably get one of the MLB games as my first title for 2009.

Is there really a market for office manager type games? I mean with so many other quality games out there & with such a fast paced busy society, does anybody really have time to play Front Office Manager. Did NFL Headcoach sell? It will be interesting to see how Front Office Manager sells. I agree the previous guy in that I don't get what 2K is doing with this. They should focus all their efforts on solidifying MLB 2K9 after what they put out last year.

The cart game and nhl game look like they belong on the Wii, not in to any of these games. Don't have time for all that stuff in mlb front office

These games will not be good....2K is wasting their time and resources with this front office game....who plays 3-on-3 hockey? and real sports-gamers don't own a wii anyway....bring on MLB 09!

I miss the NBA and NFL Arcade games like street and tour. These game don't look good compared to the street games.
