Gamestop has adjusted the release date for Fight Night Round 4 to what appears as though it could be the official one. Previously it was in the system with a placeholder date but it has now been changed to Tuesday June 30th. Generally Gamestop would not make a change such as that without having specific reason to do so.
Looking at some of the releases already slated for around that time FNR4 separates itself from UFC 2009 Undisputed (May 19th) by six weeks and NCAA Football 2010 (July 14th) by two weeks. That seems like it might be a little tight being that close to NCAA so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it eventually bumped up to June 23rd. The game has been advertised as coming in summer which begins June 21st so either date would work.

Seems so far away but I hope we start getting info on it soon

I know how you feel. I always see delays as being a good thing, because it gives developers more time to work on the game. Fight Night isn't a yearly release, so I want them to get it as right as possible.
January 6, 2009 at 2:23 am
thats cool, i need something to play until ncaa 2010 comes out.
January 5, 2009 at 8:29 pm
I’m excited for both the UFC and boxing game. I think that both will deliver in terms of how good these games will be.
January 6, 2009 at 5:20 am
They need to release this game like yesterday! I can't wait for this game! This is the only EA Sports game that lives up to the hype in my opinion.
January 6, 2009 at 7:11 am
I am buying both Fight Night round 4 & UFC for sures!…what is the UFC game going to be like….its going to be interesting….
January 6, 2009 at 4:44 am
From looking at the UFC game play footage, it looks very choppy and lacks the explosion you see in the UFC. I just hope that it does get yearly releases so it may continue working on the engine.
January 7, 2009 at 1:12 am
Man I thought the same exact thing. I said man this looks good during the intros but once they started fighting it looked like a different game. Very choppy and somewhat stiff. Hpefully FNR4 looks better.

EA does not understand the sport of boxing, and therefore will never release a proper boxing sim.
January 6, 2009 at 4:42 am
Yes Fight Night is one of the more heralded sport franchises out there.
January 6, 2009 at 4:42 am
Yet Fight Night is one of the more heralded sport franchises out there.
January 7, 2009 at 1:20 am
I have to say I agree with Craig. The Fight Night Games have been more arcade than an actual true simulation of the sport. I think that had a lot to do with that clown Kudo, who I believe knew little about actual boxing and more about arcade type video games. Kudo put too many gimmicks and not enough realism in the FN games. From what I've heard the new team at EA Canada are hard-core boxing fans so hopefully they'll represent the sport better and won't embarrass it the way Kudo did.
January 7, 2009 at 1:02 am
Doesn't mean that it's ever been sim. Just means that people love accepting crap. Madden is popular too and it's hardly sim.
January 7, 2009 at 2:07 am
End all be all opinions….
January 7, 2009 at 4:43 am
Fight Night Round 3 was pure GARBAGE! That crap was so unrealistic! Da Da Man hit it right on the head! Gamers these days just keep accepting garbage instead of demanding quality! You gonna tell me that Madden was more of a football simulation than All Pro 2K8 was gameplay-wise? No way! Just because it"s "heralded" don't mean it's realistic! Fight Night Round 3 was nothing but an arcade piece of junk pretending to be "sim."
January 7, 2009 at 6:09 am
comparing the lack of sim in fight night games with the lack of sim in madden games is a ridiculous comparasion to even make. madden has plenty of flaws but if it was on the same level of fight nights complete warping of the sport, people would be livid. but thats the popularity of football compared to boxing
January 8, 2009 at 4:24 am
I feel you guy that are skeptical about Fight Night Round 4, but you guys have to realize not the say producer(Kudo) is working on this Fight Night. The head producer Brian"Brizzo" Hayes is a true boxing fan. He's actually very active on the Official EA Fight Night Round 4 site. You guys need to be more active there too. Let them know what you want. I was one of EA Fight Night biggest critics, so now I'm a Moderator on their site. They want me to assure everybody they read everything and know what we want. If you don't believe here's the links…

So now because you're a Mod for them suddenly you have faith that EA is gonna make the best simulation boxing game?
Don't count on it dude. It's still EA whether you got a job with them or not. They don't make simulation sports games, 2K does. As bad as Prizefighter was, it was still closer to sim than any Fight Night game.
January 8, 2009 at 4:48 am
Of course their gonna tell you what you wanna hear poetic. EA has been talking big for years now and they hardly ever deliver true sim in any of their games. Their games sell because they have a built-in fanbase that's gonna blindly by the game just because it says Madden or Fight Night on the cover. This new Fight Night won't be any different. Pretty graphics, a few new bells and whistles, subpar gameplay. That's how all EA's games are. They don't spend the time to make quality and why should they? They know people are gonna by their crap anyway. Madden is a joke but it sells millions every year. Mad Gamer is absolutely right when he says that APF 2K8 is much more realistic than the Madden games. And why do you think they're pushing the Tyson-Ali thing so hard? Because that's all their banking on to sell this game.
January 8, 2009 at 9:51 am
and the sad thing is, the people who are going to review the game probably have even less of a clue about the ins and outs of what makes boxing boxing, then the people making the game do
January 8, 2009 at 10:04 am
Me,myself I have a great deal of boxing knowledge. I boxed am and pro for over 12 years. Me being a EA Mod I think we get first crack at the game and I want what everyone else wants, a true sim.
January 13, 2009 at 8:57 am
You're a Mod for EA so if you get first crack at the game are you honestly gonna tell us that it sucks after you play it?
Of course you won't.
January 14, 2009 at 3:39 am
I'm going to a EA Community Event next month to play the game. The producers want feedback from a couple of people that go, so we will have to see what I can say to you guys and can't.
January 17, 2009 at 10:37 pm
and youll turn into a puppet shortly thereafter like the other poster said.
January 8, 2009 at 12:11 pm
I am just as skeptical about EA as anyone but they did say that they were revamping the engine & adding more inside fighting, being able to hit shoulders, arms, etc… I agree that FN3 was a little arcady but it is still the best boxing game ever to date (although you could say the same for Mike Tyson's Punchout). I'm sure FN4 will have those issues you mentioned ironed out being that they've had a few years to work on it.
January 9, 2009 at 1:51 am
how about the classic EA Sports logic of, any knockdown can be gotten up from, until it reaches the magic number of 3 or 4, then your screwed
January 13, 2009 at 8:53 am
Exactly. EA doesn't know a damn thing about REAL boxing. Fight Night Round 3 was terrible and pure arcade. I look back at the reviews that game got and how the hell did it get a 9? It was nothing like real boxing. A game like Fight Night Round 3 gets a 9 while a REAL simulation sports game like MLB The Show 08 gets an 8 or an 8.5? Get the hell outta here! I swear I believe EA pays these gamesites to give high reviews to their games.
January 17, 2009 at 10:38 pm
It got a 9 cause the people reviewing it dont know a damn thing bout boxing. They watch football and whine about the much smaller problems in Madden
January 9, 2009 at 1:52 am
the fact that prize fighter turned out to be even worse then fight night says alot about how bad that game turned out. SLOOOOWWW MOOOOO PUUUUNNNNCCCHINNGGGGGG
January 9, 2009 at 6:11 am
I'm just ready to play so I can go Mike Tyson and bite off a couple of ears. lol JK but I can't wait to get my hands on it I hope its a major improvement from the last one and have all the same features the last-gen titles have.
January 9, 2009 at 9:13 am
Features? Your worried about features?
January 9, 2009 at 10:25 am
the other thing is that there are always too many current fighters mising from boxing games, because they dont want to do what it takes to contract them individually or however it works. imagine having a football game without peyton manning, or the atlanta falcons. thats the equivelent of a boxing game in the year 2009 missing Kelly Pavlik, Joe Calzaghe, and the other major belt holders, top 10 P4P, etc.
January 18, 2009 at 2:20 am
Guys get the new Game Informer, it has a nice article with photos for Fight Night Round 4.
January 25, 2009 at 5:42 am
You do know that this game will NOT have a REF! That's freakin UNBELIEVABLE with today's technology. That's just lazy development.
February 2, 2009 at 4:15 am
anyone who watches boxing knows that no fighter can take 50 unprotected hooks to the face and not hit the cavas, which is precisely how many hooks it took in fight night 3 to lower the "HEALTH METER" in every EA sports boxing game ever made enough to drop a guy. they have no concept of the science of boxing or fighting. the wheel needs to be reinivted and i seriously doubt EA sports will be doing it in fight night round 4. ill bet my ass that they are banking on the fact that tyson being in the game will enough copies of the game, and i bet my ass that they are right. wont make it a good boxing game though. just an entertaining fighting game with boxers in it
