The end of the month will bring the first ever community event hosted by SCEA as myself and a select few others head down to San Diego to check out MLB 09 The Show. While the event takes place at a point in development where the game is already complete, this does provide an opportunity not only to collect information and impressions for 09 but also to begin offering invaluable feedback and suggestions to be considered going forward.
*Inaugural San Diego Studios “MLB09 The Show” Community Preview Event
With the holidays over we would like to take this time and announce our first Community Preview Event for the “MLB The Show” franchise. The event will be held on the 29th and 30th of January. Our Community Day will allow regular consumers of the franchise and members of the community unprecedented access to the development team and the game before its release in March.
There will be six total attendees at the event. These individuals where chosen from the pool of selected Community Leaders months ago. The attendees are mlblover15, jim416, nemesis04, Knight165, Pared, and Pastapadre from the community sites Operation Sports and Pastapadre.com.
The event is a major part of our Community Initiative here at the San Diego Studios.
I’m sure you have many questions about the event and what this all means for you as a member of our community/consumer base. Feel free to ask these questions on the message boards and the Community Manager will be around to answer them.

I can't wait. I am still playing The Show 08. I hope that we get to see the entire feature set.
Pasta, is there any way if we can information on whether or not weather will be in the game? I hope that they at least added cloud cover this year. Playing under clear skies every game was a tad drab…..

Not sure right now, if we don't know by then it'll be something easy find out. I'll have a new posting up by next week asking for suggestions of things to look for.

1) will we be able to install game onto our PS3's?
2) will there be a HR Derby?
3) will there be easier baserunning/stealing controls?
HOW EXCITING…very jealous b/c I still play Show 08 a lot!

nice to know game companies have discovered that instead of making quality games in this next gen, they can just schmooze theyre way up to the blogger/reviewers

great observation

Sorry you feel that way and I have to disagree with your assumption. What you call schmoozing we call giving average fans of the game an inside look at our studio and our development team. We have never opened our doors to the general public here at the San Diego studios. That is all changing now as we strive towards more transparency and trying to take MLB The Show as a franchise to another level.

Kinda weird that they're inviting you guys to a community event for feedback after the game is pretty much complete. I have no doubt that this will be one of the best sports games ever made but if this were an EA community event I would be concerned.

Thank you SCEA team!! Fantastic idea that will solidify MLB The Show as the best sports game period.
I see you did your homework and picked a great core of users to provide feedback.

I would like to see stadiums that are not full all of the time. Like some of the smaller market teams like the Marlins for example
