Tiger Woods Release Moved Up

A new promo video for Tiger Woods 10 on the EA Sports Community Blog reveals that the game is going to release in June and I have since confirmed this is the case. In the past Tiger has released in late August or September. Also the tagline of “Feel the Drama” is now known which could be an indication of a new feature or theme for this year. You can check out the video here and leave your thoughts in the comments.

While I’m not sure if the release date change is due to Fight Night Round 4 it does make me wonder where that game will fall in. June now has Nascar and Tiger, July has NCAA Football, and August has Madden.

Makes sense… it will be nice to have the release coincide a bit more with the actual PGA Tour season (should be around the US Open). Hopefully there will be more "drama" in career mode, which I feel really needs a lot of work. Some spiffy new courses (without removing any from 09) would be nice too.

this is a smart move…..I always thought they released the game too late…it kind of got lost in the NCAA, Madden and NHL shuffle…june is usually a down-month for gaming, but this year looks like at least 2 good titles with Tiger and Fight Night…

They need more courses. At least 25. The graphics could be improved as well.

Is EA planning a tennis game to release later in the year? I thought I read that somewhere, maybe they're bumping this up to leave some space open toward the end of the year.

Yes, I believe the Wii version is coming out before the 360/PS3 though.

I think this is a great move pasta. I never liked the fact that EA releases all there sports games so close together. I think the games need to be spaced apart especially since EA doesn't have a baseball title. Also June is in the prime of the actual PGA season which would be nice for a release date.

I think all of us Tiger fans all agree that the course list needs to be bigger and badder. Notably Augusta is missing from the list and EA should do whatever it takes to get that course in the game. They also should include the other 3 major courses each year so you can actually hype the majors.

Wouldnt be surprised if 360 disk space is hindering the course count.

I wouldn't be surprised to know that Many PS3 games are limited due to the disc constraints of the 360. Lets face facts here. Metal Gear solid 4 (50gig) Uncharted: Drakes fortune (25gigs). Both of these games were not only stunning visually but likewise in game play and content. Both of these games couldn't be done on the 360 do to disc constraints (15gig).

So I am pretty confident that game manufacturers intentially hold back on the content in PS3 games so as to not alienate the 360 crowd. Could you imagine the outrage if PS3 versions of titles contained 2-3 times more content? Its a crying shame. May oneday the game devs will realize where the real power lies and do the right thing.

I see this as a bad move. Now they lose two months of development time. That means less overall improvements on the game. With it being released in August, the game was likely finished mid-June. Now it will be finished mid-April.

They could include an add-on disk at no additional charge with more courses. You would just have to download them to your hard drive.

Tiger woods 09 was the tightest version of TW to date. The only thing they need to do now is just add golfers and courses. The gameplay and features are already money.
