MLB 2K9 X-Play Preview

It was nice to have some more video footage from MLB 2K9. However, I think that gamers would need to get a feel for the game itself before a real determination can be made as to whether MLB 2K9 will be worth it. That is why a demo for this game is so important, especially for MLB fans who only own a 360.

As for me, I'm going with The Show '09 and I'm going to wait on more previews, game videos, and even reviews of MLB 2K9 before I make my mind up about MLB 2K9. Right now, as it stands, I'm on the fence.

Well, ESPN concluded their diary yesterday and stated that the new build of the game has fixed the framerate issues, and the AI has been fixed as well as more animations (things people were complaining about).

I don't need a demo, I know which game I'm going w/this year. I'll rent THE SHOW for the road to the show mode though probably around august or october…

The real time stuff is sounding amazing and The Show should copy it. all the little thing in 2k9 might make me get it over The Show. 2k9 is looking good.

The host sounds a bit sassy and no new info is released. And what the heck, 2K spent 5 minutes discussing controls to a video game? Poor marketing. Sony kicks their butt when it comes to baseball gaming and marketing same.

I agree on that, I've never been a big fan of cut scenes. I prefer the flow that comes from this style of presentation.

I do too. One thing I have wished on The Show is a full dugout of real players that react accordingly to the game action. Like standing up at the crack of the bat and following the flight of the ball and then reacting to the outcome.

Looking forward, hope I'm not let down kinda like I was last year. I'd get The Show if I had a PS3, I just hope I don't feel like I did last year, and decide that would rather still play the PS2 The Show over the XBox game.

This is a major syndicated show with the 2K developers as their guests. Do you think they are going to address anything controversial, like the VIP/framerate issue and other problems 2K8 had? No way. If they do that, 2K, or any other developer won't be back.

the show 09 is an overated game, 2k has really stepped it up this year and you will see the reviews will be much better for 2k, save your money guys and buy a xbox 360, its cheaper and has a much better baseball game

I don't understand how you could not look at this game and notice the improvement, no matter what game you are getting. Dont really like some of the player looks..gloves, batting gloves etc….I do wish the Show would do away with the cut-scenes, and add the real-time stuff and the new roster up dates and commentary…I still think the Show is gonna be a better playing and better lokking game this year…but man jus wait until next year…

wow. you guys are so friggin spoiled by graphics. Everyone is talking about how much better the show looks. All that matters is how the game plays!

IDK buddy, Ichiro looks like Ichiro to me. No game is perfect when it comes to making faces look "just like" somebody. Some are better than others. It will always be like that.

The game looked much better on screen. Giants' stadium looked awesome. However, what an awkward interview….One of the developers mentioned that everything is done in real time, such as if your hitter doesn't perform the dugout will boo and be sad… WTF?!!!

I think it looks great. I just hate when people hate on 2k and start putting them down and praising the show before the game has come out and when it seems like a great game this year. Of course I have played a few of the other exclusives but I by no means am getting a 2k baseball game. I just feel they put forth an effort with no consideration on whether its really helping. If your gonna do something you may as well do it right. Thus far MLB the show has portrayed its success and should continue this summer

I wish there was more competition for 2k because i remember the days when there were like 10 different choices of baseball games and they had to make good games in order to sell. I will be playing this year but I want to see what they have in store for next year

I agree. It's fun to rip on 2K, but it's not like the don't care or don't know anything about baseball. These guys are capable of making a good game and I think this video shows that it's got potential. We all get it that the Show's amazing, but let's wait for the final reviews.

The bottom line is that the only things 2k is showing you is bullshit that lies OUTSIDE THE GAME PLAY. Who gives a rats ass whether they choose to use cut scenes or live action. Both are just fine. Its artistic style. The funny part of that video is how they indirectly admitted that there awesome control scheme from last year was bullshit and they had to make it simpler. All the same crap us show players said last year when this game dropped. Adam Sessler needs to wipe his mouth off after that interview. Could he have kissed A$$ any more than that.

You want to know why the show wont be that much better? It won't be much better b/c they have gotten right the first 2 times. The game of baseball hasn't changed. Baseball is baseball and there is only so much you can do to the game. The show has done it right in 07 and in 08 so there isn't much to do to the game other than beef up the bells and whistles and improve the Road to the show mode. They did both these things.
