The BIGS 2 Coming This Summer

Just the other day I wrote about my hope that someone would step up and produce an arcade baseball game. My original plea had always been for a sequel to The BIGS but no indication had been given that one was in the works. The BIGS was released in June 2007 and was my favorite sports title of the year. It mixed exaggerated action with solid strategic elements and also had one of the first online co-op modes to be offered.

Thanks to a teaser trailer (as confirmed to me by Chase and through his posting on OS) included on MLB 2K9 we now know that The BIGS 2 is in development and will release this summer, two years after the original came out. I had hoped to include the trailer in HD but unfortunately I have yet to receive a copy of 2K9.

So I’m really excited for this. As good as The BIGS was there was also a bunch of things that could’ve made it better. Lets hope more resources are put into The BIGS 2 than other releases (outside of MLB 2K/NBA 2K) coming out of 2K Sports of late.

    Padre,

Wow, that is amazing news. I never got a chance to play the first game so The BIGS 2 should be a nice change of pace from The Show '09 and MLB 2K9.

Maybe you haven't received a copy of MLB 2K9 yet because 2K knows that you are an EA fanboy and are looking for every opportunity to trash 2K. So why should they give you one? I only come on here to find out about non-2K titles because you seem to have info that other places don't. With 2K titles, you have a lot more negative things to say than positive. 2K may have some problems, but they are taking steps in the right direction. EA, especially with your much beloved Madden title, keeps going backwards.

Im not a 2K fanboy and im not a EA-hater. I just hate seeing someone who seems to have some influence on other people be so obnoxiously bias. If you're going to be biased, then be biased. But then at least let everyone else know directly that you are getting paid to be biased (free trips or whatever else EA gives you).

its probably because most 2k titles are trash. like pasta even said mlb 2k and nba 2k are the only two games they make that have any sense of quality. look at prizefighter, nhl 2k, front office manager, all those type of games they release and are terrible and have problems and they dont patch them or anything. its even funnier that some people forget all the times when pasta has helped rally against problems with ea games and even get them fixed faster cause of it.

oh and your precious 2k is releasing mlb 2k with a broke franchise mode. how can you not be bias about a company who doesnt give a shit about you?

If I was 2k, I'd never send Pasta a game…all he ever does is slam 2k. If he wants to unfairly criticize 2k because they don't take care of him the same way EA does, I'd let him buy his copy.

On your part, maybe. I'm still waiting for Pasta to throw up any stories about Madden's monopoly lawsuit, or the one against the NFLPA which resulted in $28 million going to the retired NFL players, due in part to EA's actions with the NFLPA.

        • Ump

He doesnt need to. This blog isnt the sole informer of just about anyone Id have to guess. Anyone on here knows about those things

Pasta has said in the past, and in this story as well, that he really liked The Bigs and wanted another one. So believe what you want to believe, but it doesn't make it true. I really liked The Bigs as well and am looking forward to this one. It was much better than MLB Slugfest which was just dull.

yo pasta why didnt you cover the bomb shell they call a college basketball game from EA?? Im soo furious that i bought this game im trying to give it away and nobody wants it!!

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/pastapadre pastapadre

I remember posting several times that the game didn't interest me cause it was light on features. I didn't care much for the demo from what I wrote either. I didn't play the game enough because of all that.

All you weird conspiracy guys sound crazy as hell. I feel like I'm posting on IGN.

The first installment of The Bigs was very well received. In fact, it's still the only 2K baseball game built from the ground up for next-gen consoles. Which talented team of developers makes The Bigs? The same folks in Vancouver who gave us MVP Baseball. It's no coincidence it was so good right out of the gate. The Bigs 2 is a long time coming, and these guys are damn good.

3 years of development? I have high expectations, and they're well-warranted.

Hey Pasta, Any Word on a new NBA or NFL Arcade game like Street or Tour, It seems like no more arcade games for basketball and football will be released, usually every year around this time an arcade NBA game comes out like street or ballers but those games are canceled, so whats next. Maybe Ubisoft will step in
