While the actual attendees at the NCAA Football 10 Community Event aren’t going to be in a position to speak about game details EA Sports is providing a good deal of interesting on-going coverage. This is all less about promoting the game and more on how the event benefits both EA and the consumers and the process behind it all. I’ll go ahead and keep track of everything below and add links in throughout the day.

Personally, I preferred past years where we got some news about how the game plays. What's the point of advertising community day when we learn nothing about the game? And since there's only a month or so until the game goes gold, I can't imagine anything these guys say is going to have that big of an effect on how the game ultimately turns out.
March 20, 2009 at 6:52 pm
That's understandable, but it wasn't until late April last year when I saw it (will be the same this year) then the community event I think was held at the end of May. So this is way earlier, and their input provided can help make the game better. Not as fun to follow along with sure but its more impactful this way.

it would've serve them better to use that time to do some tweaking with the game or address the shortcomings of last years edition.

It seems like it would've made more sense to title it as a conference between players and developers—said nothing about it, and then held an actual community day the same time they always do.
Funny how a team of EA guys couldn't figure that one, lol. Oh no, not funny, just true because they're dummies.
March 20, 2009 at 7:36 pm
you people need to find other things to do with your time…seriously
I agree that advertising a "conference call" is not necessary when you're not going to advertise the features, but my God give them time. They could add refs, chaingangs, 1-AA teams, customizable stadiums, create-a-school, Game Day, SportsCenter, and somebody on here would complain that they didn't have the ability to write on their eye black.
seriously people…find something else to complain about.
March 20, 2009 at 8:20 pm
I'm glad you think that complaining about our complaining is a good use of your time.
It's a message board, dude…what else are we supposed to comment upon other than the news being delivered.
March 20, 2009 at 11:15 pm
could not have said it better my self amigo.
March 20, 2009 at 8:46 pm
^^^ Exactly Keith. His post is completely ironic and contradictory to his own intent.
For God's sake Shomari, shut up.
March 20, 2009 at 8:56 pm
Looking back at the NCAA gameplay camera presentation thread from yesterday, Shomari is also the guy who admitted that he "never enjoyed the gameplay of any non-EA Sports games" and insisted that the gameplay of ESPN 2k5 "couldn't have been worse."
Pretty much tells me everything I need to know about Shomari and where his loyalties lie.
March 20, 2009 at 9:37 pm
you're right, my loyalties lie with the company that has set the bar for all sports games. I'm sorry that I'm not going to come on a message board to kill a company that honestly is responsible for our passion in sports games. It's like people who hate ESPN, what's the point?
Give me a better company than EA Sports when it comes to sports games and I'll shut up.
March 21, 2009 at 9:47 am
IMO…..as well as many others……..2K sports!!………..at least for now. So, does that mean you'll shut up?
March 21, 2009 at 12:35 am
No Shomari they can not still add refs & chaingangs. It's already too late into the development cycle this year to add these things. If they were going to add refs or chaingangs (WHICH F*CKING AMAZES ME THAT THEY STILL HAVEN'T AFTER YEAR 5 INTO "NEXT GEN") then that would've had to been one of the 1st things added this year because of the time it takes to do it. Oh but WE FINALLY DO HAVE FIELD GOAL FLAGS NOW AFTER 5 YEARS BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT FIELD GOAL FLAGS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN REFS OR CHAINGANGS! Maybe next year they'll finally add coaches on the sidelines! EA is a joke!
March 21, 2009 at 6:17 am
Who gives a F about refs and chain gangs if they have great if they don't o well fix some aspects of the gameplay and AI, it always the people that never played football a day in there lives that bitch about socks, cleats, refs who cares.
March 21, 2009 at 9:18 am
people who care about their games and its authenticity, thats who. aren't most sports games trying to replicate the actual sport itself?…….i'm not just talking about how the game is played on field but also the environment around the game. it boils down to a matter of personal preference, of course but it's become a noticeable one compared with 2k5, if you ask me……..the more details the better it will enhance the experience.
March 21, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Sure, it would be great to have refs on the field or chain gangs to run over again, but it's not going to be the deciding factor in whether or not I buy the game. It's as simple as that.
I'd rather have them improve the gameplay or keep adding to the awesome online dynasty instead of making sure Urban Meyer has the right hair gel on.
March 22, 2009 at 4:01 am
You guys can say all you want but the bottom line is that there's NO EXCUSE why these things are not in the game yet. People who settle for anything that EA puts out are the reason EA doesn't feel any pressure to make a true simulation. I know that they only have a year at a time to improve the game so I don't expect them to add everything we want in one year. I understand that they have to save some additions for the following years to come but like it or not refs & chaingangs are a HUGE part of a FOOTBALL GAME! They should've been in the 1st Next Gen installment & now 5 years later we still don't have them? I know the gameplay is most important, that's a given, but once again it takes more than just solid gameplay to keep you hooked to the game. It's not just refs & chaingangs it's the whole presentation of the game.
March 21, 2009 at 3:47 am
I'm going to go on a whim here Josh and say that you didn't actually read Shomari's post from earlier. He said that they COULD (not that they still can) he's saying that they could do all of the things he listed and somebody would get upset about something else that's a minuscule thing (such as the writing on eye black)
March 21, 2009 at 6:56 am
indeed sir, you win the prize
March 21, 2009 at 9:33 am
i understand what Josh is saying…..and its basically what it is……a response to Shomari's response. No need to correct his grammar……….reread it again………from Shomari's first post to Josh's first post. I also believe that he's right……..it would be a little late……….they would have to write another program just to fit into existing engine……..which entail some glitches down the road……….but who knows?…………i might be wrong but i do understand Josh's response.

Madden and NCAA 10: Every Game We Struggle to Make Our Faces Resemble Humans
March 21, 2009 at 2:17 pm
It is a preference thing. For me, I'll take improved gameplay over flags, refs, chains, socks, cleats, etc …. any day of the week. I think you guys really don't get how long the development cycle is for these guys. 6 months …. they have 6 months to listen to you guys complain about every little thing and try to fit it in the game. Bottom line for ME, I liked 2K's presentation, but their gameplay and AI sucked. I don't ever hear anyone say how much they enjoyed 2K's gameplay.
March 21, 2009 at 9:05 pm
And THIS is why you get to sit at the table and the rest of us on here just yap. We all would like competition again as I believe it pushed everybody to make better games. But I think you get more of the bottom line of what I'm saying. If 2K's games were so great then why didn't they sell more…I mean they cut their prices to get their sales up and it still didn't work.
There are a LOT of things that we can all agree deserve to be in the game, but I don't think any of us have the understanding of what it takes to get those things in.
March 21, 2009 at 9:24 pm
2k's gameplay is universally renowned moron. Your in the vast minority.
March 21, 2009 at 7:30 am
Pretty sad to hear that kind’ve talk coming from someone who attended community day, ShopMaster. You mean you didn’t think that 2k5’s OL/DL interaction was head and shoulders above the crap Tiburon has given us? For a 5 year old game, there are a LOT of things 2k5 did better in the gameplay department than even last year’s Madden and NCAA. I sure hope you aren’t representative of the other community day attendees, or else we might be in for another lousy year of football from Tiburon. Man, if that’s the case, what a totally pointless event yesterday was then.
March 21, 2009 at 7:27 pm
I do…….love 2k's gameplay. I still own and play All-pro 2k8 as well as NFL 2k5 to this day. I'm happy to say that I'm a proud owner of them both. If gameplay matters to you, then on some level those "little things" should eventually become important to you as you play along. For me and many others (as you can tell around you), it does matter because this game has been out for so long…..plus they have exclusive rights……that something so minor and "useless" shouldn't be added? That's…….IMO
March 21, 2009 at 9:22 pm
all of u who want the refs will complain if a ref blew the game. Ex: referee gets hit with ball LAST PLAY OF THE GAME. You guys would complain if players went through the refs. Also you would complain if the ref wasn't doing the perfect stance of a ref. seriously just stop complaining about this and FG nets. WE WANT GAMEPLAY ONLINE GAMEPLAY ONLINE DYNASTY AND DYNASTY BETTER. things that actually matter more.
March 21, 2009 at 9:27 pm
when ur in an online game and a kid does spectacular catch are u complaining that the guy jumped 10 feet in the air unrealistic arcade like football or are you complaing that his cleats don't look like under armour cleats. Seriously or when a kid dc glitches u r u complaing that the kid dc glitched u or that the refs werent on the field to call the game.
March 21, 2009 at 9:31 pm
if 2k had exclusive rights their football games would be like their baseball games. A guy would fumble and no1 would pick it up or some1 would catch the ball and run like a robot and he would walk out of bounds for no reason. 2k fans face it stop living in the past. 2k is on their decline except for nba 2k games. 2K games now prove they arent what they used to be. Tell you this 2k5 was a good game for 20 dollars but their games now arent even worth 10. support 2k but they arent what they used to be. look at the track history recently. EX: MLB 2K NHL 2K and NBA came out with a few glitches this year.
March 22, 2009 at 12:22 am
OMG GREAT POINT!!! I didn't even think of that.
So how about this. Can we all agree that exclusive video game rights are the issue and not the development teams and the companies themselves?
(I like to bring closure to disagreements)
March 21, 2009 at 9:33 pm
when ur playing an online or offline game and a guy does spectacular catch in ncaa or david tyree in madden or rocket catch do u complain about the unrealistic play or do u complain that his under armour cleats dont really look like under armour cleats. When a kid dc glitches u or does a cheap play do u wish that wouldnt happen or that the refs saw the game??? FACE IT those r minors we want majors first.
March 22, 2009 at 1:42 am
When people talk about "it gives the game a nice touch"……..thats what were talking about…………its the minors that gives the game some kind of depth and……..its the "minors" that makes the "majors" a much rounded game.
March 22, 2009 at 12:26 am
WOW 2k's gameplay is the BEST gameplay ive ever seen it FEELS like real football when you play, you cant run back with your qb and throw an accurate pass off your backfoot its just impossible, theres a REAL pocket in 2k….madden does NOT feel like real football,Yes the madden players look better then 2k hands down but cmon now maddens game play is the WORSTTTTTTTTTTTTT EVERRRRRR….FACE IT all you EA fanboys madden SUCKS they've been in the business for YEARS and they've been stagnant they have two of the most powerful systems on the market and they cant do anything with it….and all the madden nation gamers there all glitchers who take advantage of how TERRIBLE the gameplay is, running there money plays there nano blitzes there rocket catches there make it rain rocket catches….if ian cumming doesnt get it done this year then madden is over face it yall its FINISHED : (
March 22, 2009 at 1:22 am
actually every sport has different developers……so you're statement about if 2k has sole NFL rights could be flawed……go take a look at the devs for EA………they have different staff for different sport. Knowing that NFL 2k staff made a great game, i'm pretty sure they'll continue had they been able to continue making the series. "2k fans face it stop living in the past"……..i'm happy to say that there is a past to look back on……..take music for example………the best music overall (IMO) are the ones in the past……………2k's past could very well be the starting point that could propel Madden 10's gameplay……..so in many ways, you learn from your past to make the future better. "2k is on their decline except for nba 2k games. 2K games now prove they arent what they used to be"……….i believe this has to do with the financial areas of the company itself and not the product……….i'm pretty sure that 2k compared with EA is a much smaller company with less resources to build upon………so if you say they are not as good, you do have valid points but there's a good reason behind it also.
March 22, 2009 at 1:35 am
I get that and I hear what you're saying. I just wish there were two companies that could push each other and we'd get the best out of both. SCEA is killing it in baseball right now, I haven't played a basketball video game in three years, and NFL 2K5 is the only non-EA game I've ever had and I hated it.
March 22, 2009 at 2:01 am
hmm, seems to me you are complaining about the complainers also. Refs, chain gangs are part of the game experience……..they add to the level of authenticity to the games………..the also add value to the "GAMEPLAY." So, you can ignore or post something else if you don't like what we have to say……..comments are comments.
March 22, 2009 at 6:37 am
My beef is not so much with the gameplay but with the lack of FCS (as it's going to be until EA get's off its butt and get back to including the teams like it did/does in the last-gen versions). I swear if 2K made the game, at least the same team that worked on the College Hoops game, you would have a full FCS (1-AA) with playoffs, the ability to coach at that level and move up to FBS. The integrated dynasty seasons would allow for you to play FBS/FCS schools in guarantee games, you could also move your program up to FBS (or start coaching at the FCS level). You could watch benched players leave for the FCS level in search of more playtime.
Don't get me wrong, 2K is not the be all, end all. They screwed up the MLB series and the NHL series is pathetic now. NBA is still good, but what happened with the online play this year? Seriously though, the team that worked on the college hoops series was amazing. You could tell they loved every little aspect of the sport. Almost nothing was overlooked. It's not the same way with the March Madness/NCAA series. If that team got their hands on a college FB license it would be a thing of beauty I'm sure.
I hope, Pasta, that we can get an early answer if EA decided to include even any teams from the FCS level. I don't want to be hanging on this one all spring only to be disappointed yet again. The last two years a large contingent of Montana and Montana State fans (as well as many FCS fans I know from the blogosphere) have not only expected EA to finally include these teams, they've planned online FCS-based leagues only to put them on hold again for another year (or get enough people who still play the PS2 version). It's crummy how EA has treated these schools, especially since they are flourishing more than they ever have on a national scale.
March 22, 2009 at 8:51 pm
pasta- if you have any imput at all please tell them about team specific entrances and progressive lighting, thats the only thing to me the game is lacking.
I loathe xavier
