EA Sports has released a new trailer for Fight Night Round 4 that focuses on the new physics engine. Some of the aspects specifically displayed in the video include inside fighting, punching through blocks, and glancing blows. These are all things that people have been hoping for and from what I’ve seen of the game at the very least appear to be natural and fluid.

This video seems to have piqued some interest in FNR4 again after it seemed for a while like UFC had taken command. Continue on to view the trailer and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Poetic how did you play the game? Can you be a little more specific than "incredible?"
  • POETICDRINK2U
EA had a Fight Night Round 4 Community Day Event. They invited a group of Community Leader that represented certain sites. I'm also a EA Mod, I went up to EA Canada to play Fight Night Round 4 and give my feedback. I was one of their toughest critics, so they made sure I go a chance to play the game and give feedback. I played the game for a little over 2 hours. I played the little after pre-Alpha version.
  • I played the game for a little over 2 hours. This game is going to be incredible.
  • I forgot to mention I was one of the Community Leaders who attended the event to see the game.

IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO AMAZE ME WHEN NEW FIGHTING GAMES COME OUT. THERE ARE ALWAYS VARIOUS OPINIONS ON HOW GOOD OR BAD A GAME WILL BE BASED ON PAST, PRESENT OR OTHER GAMES. TAKE THE FIGHT NIGHT FRANCHISE. EVERYONE HOPES AND PRAYS THAT EA WILL IMPROVE ON THE SHORT COMINGS OF FNR3, BUT HOPES THAT THE GAME PLAY AND FUN FACTOR REMAINS. THEN YOU HAVE THE ASSHOLES THAT COMPARE FNR4 TO UFC '09. YES I SAID ASSHOLES!!! ONLY AN ASSHOLE WOULD WILLINGLY COMPARE MIXED MARTIAL ARTS WITH BOXING. YEAH THEY'RE BOTH FIGHTING, BUT COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TYPES OF FIGHTING AND GO BY A TOTALLY DIFFERENT SET OF RULES. AND YEAH I UNDERSTAND THAT UFC '09 HAS A LARGER ROSTER THAN ANY FN GAME. WHAT A LOT OF GAMERS AND FIGHT FANS DON'T TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION IS THAT UFC HAS A MORE COMPLETE ROSTER OF CURRENTLY GOOD ACTIVE FIGHTERS ACROSS DIFFERENT WEIGHT CLASSES THAN BOXING DOES. BOXING HAS ONLY HAD KEY STANDOUTS PER CLASS, EVERY COUPLE YEARS. PLUS BOXING HAS BEEN AROUND FAR LONGER THAN UFC, AND IT WOULD BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO INCLUDE ALL THE BEST BOXERS FROM YEARS PAST. AND THERE'S ALWAYS GONNA BE A FAN /OR GAMER THAT GETS BUTT HURT CAUSE THEIR ALL TIME FAVORITE BOXER ISN'T IN THE GAME. I WISH EVERYONE WOULD JUST WAIT 'TIL THE GAMES CAME OUT AND ENJOY THEM FOR WHAT THEY ARE.

If you don't want to use the analog stick don't buy the fucking game! Nuff said!
  • DRAKEFAN123
PASTA PLEASE TALK TO EA AND GET THEM TO CONFIRM IF FLOYD MONEY MAYWEATER IS IN OR NOT BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTS HIM IN FNR$ PLEASE?????????????????
  • Tiz
I generally play games by myself to unwind after work not online so why is it important to you or anyone else which style of play i prefer? The one thing that really is irrelevant in all of this is your opinion of the way I play a game that I paid for with my own money...
  • good shit

2k's boxing game was even worse then fight night
  • Watching the punches to the face are so much more realistic. I remember seeing the trailers when FN3 was announced. Those trailers were outstanding. It is amazing to me that those visuals appear outdated compared to FN4. Have to love technology....
  • They've shown game play physics. Fight Night has always been well received, they aren't really fixing a "broke" product as they do with their other lineups, that's why they don't feel the need to release many videos at this point and time, credibility is already there.
  • Totally agree, cabrillo24. Only thing I really think they HAVE to improve on is the career mode, and they've already talked about certain details that really sound exciting.
  • Yup, agree with the career mode. I really liked FN4 but the career mode was too short, and not almost felt tedious. I want something that will have me coming back for more.

WHY THE HELL NOT MAKE THE CONTROLS OPTIONAL? FORCING PEOPLE TO PLAY ONE WAY IS THE DUMBEST SH*T I EVER HEARD! WAY TO GO EA! I PERSONALLY PREFER THE BUTTON CONTROLS. IT'S NOT "BUTTON MASHING" IT STILL TAKES SKILL TO PULL OFF COMBOS USING THE BUTTON CONTROLS. IS EA PURPOSELY TRYING TO LOSE SALES BY DOING THIS? I DON'T GET THIS MOVE.
  • Because they probably do not want 1 person having an advantage over someone that likes to play it another way. I am glad they took a stance and are sticking with it. Its about time they did that. Good for EA i applaud them big time.
  • Josh
How would it be an advantage if you could CHOOSE which way to play? That doesn't make any sense. The only way it would be an advantage is if one person had a choice on which controls he coud use & the other person didn't. If EVERYONE has a choice then how would that be an advantage? Please explain.
  • Because if someone likes to use the analog stick but using buttons makes it a bit easier and more responsive and you can react quicker, then 1 person has an advantage over the other. So in the end everyone ends up using the button scheme, because they have too. I am talking online here.

Again, i applaud them for saying, its going to be this way and sticking with it. Everyone has to play the way they intended it to be. People will still buy the game if its good. You can have people bitch and moan that they wont buy it, but if its good, you can best believe they will fork their 60 over for it.
  • Josh
Dude you're not understanding. Who's fault is that if you "like" to use the analog stick over the buttons? If the buttons are more responsive, then the person using the analog stick would have the option to use buttons IF WE HAD A CHOICE WHICH WE DON'T. Again your arguement is not making sense. THERE'S NO ADVANTAGE IF BOTH PLAYERS HAVE A CHOICE ON HOW TO PLAY.

If this game is so great why won't they show any REAL gameplay videos? All they are showing is 40 sec trailers and teasers and the game comes out in TWO months!

Don't believe the hype people, this game is gonna suck ass. UFC has been showing REAL gameplay videos for 5 months now. They're not trying to hide their product like EA is hiding this game.
  • Looks awesome! If they make the career mode interesting like they've mentioned before, this will be a must buy game for any sports fan. Really looking forward to this one.
  • 2kFTW
Who cares! It's boxing and EA. It's gonna suck somehow. DLC in five days, unlock all rings and fighters for only 10 bucks!
  • ....
Yes because FNR3 sucked right? Idiot
  • yes because 2k sports did so many great things with their boxing game

    ;)
  • This video does look great though.
  • Pasta,

The reason why UFC had taken "command" interest is the improvement in gameplay since the first gameplay video we saw, and the extremely large roster when compared to FN4, combine that with the increased popularity of UFC overall as the most watched contact sport in America it makes sense why UFC is in "command".

    IRON MIKE TYSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NUFF SAID
  • MINOR LEA
its imperative that this game has devleoped an accurate system for how punch damage and damage accumulation is going to be calculated. if its like past games, then none of this cool sounding/looking stuff matters
  • Not only are the two sports different, but I also don't get why people are expecting UFC to be better than FNR4.
Boxing is one of those sports where although it might not be as fun to watch as UFC, when you're actually in control of the action, it goes to another level. I think this game is going to be a lot more fun, not to mention realistic.
  • Dre
Not everyone want to try and leaarn the new system of trying to punch with the analog. You might fuddle up something while fighting trying to throw decent punches.
  • Tiz
one of the last knockout kings game (before the fight night name) did away with button mashing and game play wasn't that smooth..I prefer the option to have buttons.
  • SECRT AG3NT MAN
idk how ppl can compare fight night and ufc they are two totaly dif thing only thing thy have in common is fighting..im gettin both games no matter what but have been waiting for fnr4 for years n i like the no button mashing makes it fair u dont throw a punch with a button the stick is like ur arm it makes progress forward like ur arm i like it n graphics look o so nice
  • Woody31992
It seemed like you could get into more of a flow when you used the stick to punch, like muscle memory in your fingers
  • Dre
Besides I hate it when EA changes a great thing they have for something new and it really don't work out for everyone.
  • Looks insanely gorgeous, getting this day 1 for shooooo
  • Afro
Why would you not get the game because it won't let ya BUTTON MASH...weird...I welcome a new control scheme..I wasn't a fan of the stick but knowing that everyone else will be required to do the same makes the game more attractive to me.
  • Becuase people like everything easy. They don't want to learn something. People bitch and moan that games are to arcadish, so when a company tries to make a game more simulation, they bitch that its to hard. I hope it goes more of the simulation. I am excited that the game doesnt have button mashing. I welcome it. Hope the game is solid.
