Last week The BIGS 2 named Prince Fielder as the cover athlete and that was accompanied by a single screenshot and trailer featuring Fielder. Now there are eight new screens and they can be viewed in the gallery. There are a variety of players featured along with one image that comes from the game’s Be a Legend career mode.
Gamespot also has an early preview of the game. Additions include the batting “wheelhouse”, “legendary” players with extreme abilities, Become a Legend mode, Season mode, more HR pinball locales, and new mini-games. You can check out the first look article here. They are packing in a lot of good stuff.
What made the original great was that the exciting moments of the sport were exaggerated yet it still played well as a baseball game and there was an importance placed on different strategical elements. It appears that will continue to be the case in the sequel and the new ideas making their way in certainly seem promising.

I've never played this game before I've been hearing it is good. I used to play MLB Slugfest for a couple of years. Is The Bigs somewhat the same as Slugfest?
April 16, 2009 at 5:08 pm
In that they're both arcade style games yeah, but they are much different in philosophy. The BIGS incorporates more strategy and isn't quite that over the top. Plus it has really fun online play with two player co-op. The fun didn't wear off fast as it used to with Slugfest.

Alright, thanks pasta. I'll probably rent the game before I start buying.

I agree with Pasta, The Bigs was much more fun than Slugfest. Definitely the best arcade baseball game I've ever played. I'm glad they made a new one, so I don't have to keep updating the old one.

NOW THAT MADDEN RETIRED WILL THEY STILL CALL IT MADDEN? OR MIKE? MIKE 11
April 16, 2009 at 8:53 pm
I think they should name Madden 11 to Brett Favre 11 John Madden loved Favre and Favre since retired should be the NAME HOLDER of a football game by EA that is developing on the right track.
