While graphically Fight Night Round 4 appears to be one of the best sports titles this generation there were some comments made after initial screenshots of the actual boxer representations. One specifically that was at the forefront of discussion was that of Jermain Taylor. Basically he looked overweight and out of shape.
In response to that the FNR4 developers have adjusted Taylor’s model based on the feedback from the community. Continue on to see a before and after comparison.

STORY OF THE YEAR

Didn't they do the same thing with Ben Rothelisberger? I'm starting to think, that they release pics of players intentionally screwed up, just to get community feedback, and prove that they are listening to the community, more than any other company. Clever, but I'm convinced that this is intentional now. Because, there is no way no one in the office questioned the look of that.

Agreed! I hope they get all the players right in Madden too. That Ricky Williams pic they released had him looking all wrong. He was way to light skinned & his facemask was off. I've noticed quite a few players that don't have their right skin tone in the screenshots.

While I do wonder how no one on the FNR4 team apparently noticed that before, I seriously doubt they'd put out poor screenshots only to make for a feedback spurned update later. No one wants to make their game look bad when marketing it even something minor such as that.

While I agree that no one would release a poor screenshot pasta, thats not really an issue here IMO. Why you ask, because the screenshot looks great!!! It's not that it looks bad, it's the fact that he was fat. Or Ben Rothlisberger being skinny. That Screenshot also looked great. Thats not going to be a make or break on the game for anyone, especially when captain save-a-gamer (EA) swoops in and bring the community what it wants with lightning quickness. It just happens too fast, and is emphasized too much after this "community explosion" that many games saw last year.

The new version looks better on the body, but did the new model have a stroke? one side of his face looks like its drooping. He must have just had some dental work or something….
May 13, 2009 at 4:19 pm
Just think its the physics deforming his face
May 13, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Yeah the new model does look alot better, Jermaine Taylor is known for being in great shape..

May 13, 2009 at 4:50 pm
wait. it's not just jermain taylor. all the boxers are too wide, boxy and fat looking. do we have confirmation that they will ALL be fixed?
May 13, 2009 at 5:19 pm
exactly..

Still doesn't look right. They should post a picture with JT laying on his back. Then it would look normal.
