Last week Donny Moore mentioned on Twitter that the top three rated teams in Madden 10 are the Steelers, Patriots, and Eagles. Certainly the Steelers coming off the Super Bowl win and the Patriots with Tom Brady back are the obvious choices. The Eagles got to the NFC Championship last year and had a great offseason so they make a lot of sense to be right there. The more I looked at other teams the more I realized they are justified to be third.
I believe that the Chargers could be included in that discussion. While I may not place them above either of those three I could see them settling in next or shortly after them. They finished last season strong, play in a relatively soft division, and have a returning Shawne Merriman. What teams do you think are worthy of consideration for being at the top of the rankings going into the 2009-2010 season?

If the Chargers are mentioned the Broncos have to be too.

how are the Cards not a top 5 team? They have had the best offense in the league the last 2 years, and they came within an eyelash of winning the Super Bowl. You punks are all just a bunch of haters.
The Bears? No. Cutler was in one of the best, most underrated offenses in the league in Denver. Who is he going to throw the ball to in Chicago??

You have to remember the colts had a big off season loss in there coach.

The top 3 is already set. So without moving them around, let me give the next 7, imo.
1. Steelers (Super Bowl champs and the best defensive team in the NFL, nuff said.)
2. Patriots (Tom Brady returns with a lot of new veteren players.)
3. Eagles (Great off-season accusitions and a strong draft.)
4. Colts (Still one of the top teams in the NFL with last years MVP Peyton Manning.)
5. Giants (Strong defense and good depth in all positions.)
6. Vikings (Great D-line, O-line, secondary, and the best RB in the NFL, AP.)
7. Cardinals (Super Bowl team with alot of returning talent)
8. Chargers (Best offensive team in the NFL with Merriman returning)
9. Bears (1 guy… Jay Cutler)
10. Jets (Strong draft and great offense)

Wat about the Redskins? They've had a really really good offseason. The additions of Haynesworth and Orakpo def goona gonna make them an elite Defense. Also the Offense is gonna be really good aswell. Jason Campbell is finally gonna be in the same system for more then 1 year and if they can get their three 2nd Round Picks from last season Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly and Fred Davis to play better this season (21 Catches for 165 yards and 0 TD's combined) then they should have a pretty good season.

booooooooooooooooooo. they r already making a mistake by putting sackpo at linebacker…dumb ass team i swear they r dumb
May 18, 2009 at 5:49 pm
Go Eagles!!! My team is going to be a problem this year!!!! Can't wait!
May 18, 2009 at 6:09 pm
How about the Falcons?!?
They have Matt Ryan who posted the best rookie season since Dan Marino in '83 (think it was '83), Michael Turner who ran for 1,500+ yards and double digit TD's (NFL's 2nd best rusher last year) Roddy White (one of the best wideouts last year in NFL), Tony Gonzalez, who i9s the best offensive TE in history and can still produce with over 90 receptions last year. Micheal Jenkins is also starting to show his worth. Our D isn't the best but it sure got younger and more talented.
top 10 team AT LEAST!!!

Hey Pasta, could you let Ian know my thoufgts maybe still for 2010 or 2011?
This is nice… however there are still some details I would love to see: Missed snaps during Field Goals, punts, shot gun formations and QB under the center… The ability to bloack a FG and Punt…. Long Snappers… Practice Squad players…. The ability to have a real off season roster of 80 players and trimm it down to 53 during preseason… The ability to use as many IR places as needed… A true TV-Showw broadcast… Different set of announcers (at least 2 or 3)… Diffferent bradcast presentation (at least 2 or 3) thinking of monday and sunday night games…harder technique for FGs…. To have all the different uniforms for each team (historic, specials)… I would also like to be able during the offseason to manipulate the CPU controlled depth charts because they some times make some strange decissions… I would like to set these on my own without the need to control all the aspects of each team except mine. The ability to change the user/CPU controlled teams at any point during the season.
May 18, 2009 at 9:11 pm
What will be also nice would be a home advantage… which must feel bigger during post-season… Alsio I would like to really feel I am playing the playoffs… the ambient, comments, camera shots, replays, halftime must be different. I liked a lot the cut scenes in "K5 showing the landmarks of each city.
Also would be nice to have a bigger Free Agent Pool, a wider variety of penalties, it would be also nice to have some injuries happen during off season or in between season weeks, more trades to happen in the game during off season, draft and before Week 6. I would like also to have online 2 vs 2 matchups… and offline better co-op play, maybe rotating the use of the QB.
May 18, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Also better editing of the player model, face, hair, skin, tatoos, I miss also the players getting their helmets off due a big hit….. by the way Big hits that are correctly timed should punish the hitted player he should not stand up so quickly (maybe out a couple of plays) also defenders hitting hard should also some times have this effect… Interaction with teammates or opposing team when the players gets to the sidelines, ocassional fights that could even represent the ejection of the game of players…. Maybe online 11 vs 11?!?!?
First free agency window and second free agency window (including rookie Fas)

HELLS YEA!!!
May 20, 2009 at 10:47 pm
Ravens should be in top 5.
May 21, 2009 at 12:09 pm
I think the Falcons have to be up there. They are going to be one of the more explosive teams on offense with the best rated TE in the game, Michael Turner/Jerious Norwood running the ball, and Roddy White and Michael Jenkins at WR. Plus the offensive line should get a big boost for 10 after having the 2 best run game in the league and setting a franchise record for least amount of sacks given up last season. Also the defense should get a boost also with more speed at Corner and Safety and a better front on defense with Peterson and Jerry being added to the mix. Not to mention Sidbury who ran the faster time out of all D-linemen at the combine(4.57, 40yd) which could bring some serious heat of the edge next to Abraham.

wth saints should be in top 10 you idiots. they have the best offense in the nfl. if they had a descent defense they would destroy alll
September 24, 2009 at 2:30 pm
the cowboys have been extremely sucessful for me personally on madden 10 .. my friend used to be unstoppable within our group of friends . ever since I started using the cowboys my record with him is 6-1 … with three straight games over a 21 point diffrence… and 2 games I scored 21 before he got any points on the board .. and that was in the first half ! total domination ! I will say the running game on offense isn’t the best , but who needs that with a qb arm like romo ?
September 26, 2009 at 2:36 pm
1 Colts- Peyton Manning is a beast
2 Saints- Drew Breese is unreal
3 Bears- They have such an easy schedule, its impossible to not make the playoffs
4 Giants- If they can go 6-0 in division, they can't miss a play off spot… all there other games are too easy
5 Ravens- There de cant be touched
6 Vikings- With Brett, i can see the team as an 11-5 team, or even a 13-3 team, but for right now i say 10-6
7 Bills- they have a great developing QB in Trent Edwards, and with TO and Lee Evans, he will be outstanding
8 Steelers- I know everybody has them as top 3, but come on… theyre not that great, just because they are Super Bowl champs doesnt mean that they are the best team in the league!
9 Seahawks- They are the most underrated team in the NFL. If they stay healthy they could probably go 11-5 or 12-4, and definately 6-0 in division
10 Broncos- They are really young, w/ a pretty good defense, good recievers, and a terribledivision, i could see them going 8-8 or 9-7 without injuries

You might ask yourself where are the cardinals, eagles, chargers, panthers, falcons, patriots… As i said with the Steelers, previous success doesnt mean a thing. The Cardinals i guarantee are going to have Super Bowl hang over, and do terrible for the first half of the season, even if they do step it up late, they wont have enough time to be a Top Ten Team. Same thing w/ the eagles, there only chance is to have an injuredless season to be a contender. The chargers have no talent really, other than Phillip Rivers. They lose him and they are done. Panthers are too old. did you see Jake Delhomes last game. He was TERRIBLE, i cant see them going anywhere. The Falcons Will make the Play offs, but they are number 11 in my book, the Top Ten is just all better than them, i had no spot to put them. The Patriots are going to suck, they do have Brady back, but he is not healthy yet, i see them as 8-8 or 9-7, not playoff bound
