Though it has yet to be officially announced TeamXbox has the details on an Anniversary Edition of NBA 2K10. Available in limited supply for $100 it will include a game storage locker, Kobe Bryant McFarlane and poster, video chronicling the history of the NBA 2K franchise, and access to the “Gold Room” which is a VIP online lobby.
The most significant piece of news out of the Anniversary Edition is the reference to a VIP lobby. 2K9 removed lobbies in favor of the unpopular Team 2K competition which resulted in a major disruption to the community. Given that there will be access to a special lobby for AE owners it would seem to reason that the regular lobbies will be returning as well.

They think people care about that. Nobody cared about the Madden 25th, they won't care about this especially.
June 30, 2009 at 5:05 am
The reason why some did pick up the Madden anniversary edition was because it included NFL Head Coach. Otherwise you're right at least when it comes to what the other extras were.
I can maybe see diehard NBA 2K fans picking this up. I'm not sure if what they're including will appeal to many others considering the hefty price tag.
June 30, 2009 at 6:38 am
I wouldn't pick this up for 10$ extra in all honesty.
June 30, 2009 at 6:59 am
Well, since there is probably more Laker fans then any other fans in the world, people will get it for the Kobe stuff.
I already see people saying they will get it for the locker and the Kobe doll and sell the game. Dont underestimate collectors.
Since i am a Laker fan, i will more then likely try to get one myself.
July 1, 2009 at 3:13 am
Make a good game and people will buy it. That is all.
June 30, 2009 at 5:06 am
The game locker is really really cool, and so is the Kobe figurine but the $100 price tag isn't.
June 30, 2009 at 5:10 am
Yeah the items seem like they are quality but I don't think there is anything there people will feel like they can't live without. Especially non-Kobe fans who'll want nothing to do with the figurine or poster.
June 30, 2009 at 7:01 am
I dont think they really care if other people like it as long as they sell out, which they more then likely will. Come on now Pasta, you know the only thing that matters is the sale. If it sells out , then for them it was great.

Hopefully this sparks someone to make a Game locker because it would be a great gift for sports videogame fans.
June 30, 2009 at 5:49 am
I'm waiting to see who will be the first to offer an autographed poster from the likes of Kobe, LeBron, or whoever the cover athlete is in some kind of special edition.
I'm surprised no one's thought of that yet. I know it might even cost more than $100, but I guarantee more people would still buy it.

Maybe they can celebrate it by celebrating it the only way anyones cares about them celebrating it—by making a great basketball game, one that was as great as the original NBA 2k when it first hit the scene.

Man video games are in a sorry state these days. It used to be only EA had this mentality
June 30, 2009 at 9:15 am
how do you figure its just an EA thing when this is 2k's first anniversary?
June 30, 2009 at 12:50 pm
I think he's saying that EA used to be the only company that would include so-so "Extra Special" material with their games in order to make a few extra bucks. With this, 2K is now entering that same mentality.
June 30, 2009 at 6:56 am
I'll buy it I have every 2k from dreamcast xbox xbox360. the only 2k game I dont have is 2k1 on the DC.
June 30, 2009 at 6:56 am
That is about the weakest value for 100$(or an extra 40) that I've ever heard.
June 30, 2009 at 8:34 am
THANKS 2K! (sarcasm)
June 30, 2009 at 11:00 am
if there was no kobe stuff i'd actually consider
June 30, 2009 at 12:07 pm
Looks like a waist of money to be honest. PEOPLE THIS YEAR IS LIVE 10 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always loved and they never doubted me. GO LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 30, 2009 at 7:25 pm
Live is crap. Have fun playing by yourself online.
June 30, 2009 at 1:05 pm
I am all over this. Headed over to the mall to put down my deposit today.
June 30, 2009 at 2:38 pm
isn't the gold room the atl strip club where patrick ewing and terrell davis were "serviced"?
June 30, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Sounds good, but not for $100. I'll pick up the regular $60 game.
June 30, 2009 at 3:38 pm
Chances of me EVER buying another 2K game….ZERO!
June 30, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Agreed…after MLB 2k8/2k9 and FOM I'm officially done with 2K…..not to say that EA doesn't have their own problems but 2K (the company) is horrid. Shame because I enjoyed NBA 2k9 last year.
July 1, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Same here…MLB 2K9 was a complete disaster. I am not a big NBA fan anyway, so 2K is essentially dead to me.
June 30, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Look…….Gimmick, gimmick, gimmick. Just a desparate last ditch effort from a failing company trying to milk every dollar out of the ONLY franchise they have left that is worth a damn.
Its pretty sad that they have to resort to giving away useless crap in order to make a buck. Bottom line is this. If the game is good, people will buy it. 100$ for an exclusive lobby is a joke.
Sorry 2k but this marketing strategy will fail miserably.
June 30, 2009 at 4:47 pm
I'm kinda underwhelmed by the news.
I couldn't care less about a poster and a case. If you wanna sell an Anniversary edition, you gotta be smart and what give what gamers want. How about a copy of Nba 2k2 or 2k3, or an extra disc with some real legendary teams.
I don't buy the gold room thing. It reads great but that's pretty much it. They promise you naked chicks and champaign and at the end of the day all you get is a soft drink and some old Playboy issue.
July 2, 2009 at 12:36 am
nicca you cant spell for shlt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 30, 2009 at 5:44 pm
Yup exactly right.. Im a diehard laker fan, huge kobe fan, love 2k so ill most likely get this.
June 30, 2009 at 6:07 pm
hahah nooo wayy, maybe if it was 10$ more
June 30, 2009 at 7:15 pm
i would buy it just to get the locker.
June 30, 2009 at 9:29 pm
This is not how you celebrate 10 years..
June 30, 2009 at 9:30 pm
Only kids whos parents buy games for them will get this. nobody with a job is shelling out 100$ for NBA 2k10
July 1, 2009 at 3:12 am
Lol at the nut "thumbing down" every negative reply, which is everything.
July 1, 2009 at 4:16 am
Wow this has gotten an awful reception
July 1, 2009 at 8:25 am
if you are a true fan of the series or even a laker fan you would shell out the money for this…..i know I am…..live needs to step up their gameplay if they are to win my heart back, and this isn't a bad deal if you plan to put the things that are in the pack to good use, which I plan on doing so some need not complain……then again you cant please everyone nowadays for shit, and why da fuck would I want to play a dated sports game like 2k2 or 2k3? that makes no sense……..and my job pays me well enough to let me treat myself and splurge a little lol
July 2, 2009 at 12:45 am
exactly all im hearing is some broke azz nicca responsed if you cant afford the $100 just buy the game by itself and stfu with the complaining becuz im sure the pack is still gon sell out either you buy or not
July 2, 2009 at 12:40 am
stfu please
