NBA 2K10 Anniversary Edition

Though it has yet to be officially announced TeamXbox has the details on an Anniversary Edition of NBA 2K10. Available in limited supply for $100 it will include a game storage locker, Kobe Bryant McFarlane and poster, video chronicling the history of the NBA 2K franchise, and access to the “Gold Room” which is a VIP online lobby.

The most significant piece of news out of the Anniversary Edition is the reference to a VIP lobby. 2K9 removed lobbies in favor of the unpopular Team 2K competition which resulted in a major disruption to the community. Given that there will be access to a special lobby for AE owners it would seem to reason that the regular lobbies will be returning as well.

They think people care about that. Nobody cared about the Madden 25th, they won't care about this especially.

The reason why some did pick up the Madden anniversary edition was because it included NFL Head Coach. Otherwise you're right at least when it comes to what the other extras were.

I can maybe see diehard NBA 2K fans picking this up. I'm not sure if what they're including will appeal to many others considering the hefty price tag.

I wouldn't pick this up for 10$ extra in all honesty.

Well, since there is probably more Laker fans then any other fans in the world, people will get it for the Kobe stuff.

I already see people saying they will get it for the locker and the Kobe doll and sell the game. Dont underestimate collectors.

Since i am a Laker fan, i will more then likely try to get one myself.

The game locker is really really cool, and so is the Kobe figurine but the $100 price tag isn't.

Yeah the items seem like they are quality but I don't think there is anything there people will feel like they can't live without. Especially non-Kobe fans who'll want nothing to do with the figurine or poster.

I dont think they really care if other people like it as long as they sell out, which they more then likely will. Come on now Pasta, you know the only thing that matters is the sale. If it sells out , then for them it was great.

Hopefully this sparks someone to make a Game locker because it would be a great gift for sports videogame fans.

I'm waiting to see who will be the first to offer an autographed poster from the likes of Kobe, LeBron, or whoever the cover athlete is in some kind of special edition.

I'm surprised no one's thought of that yet. I know it might even cost more than $100, but I guarantee more people would still buy it.

Maybe they can celebrate it by celebrating it the only way anyones cares about them celebrating it—by making a great basketball game, one that was as great as the original NBA 2k when it first hit the scene.

I think he's saying that EA used to be the only company that would include so-so "Extra Special" material with their games in order to make a few extra bucks. With this, 2K is now entering that same mentality.

Agreed…after MLB 2k8/2k9 and FOM I'm officially done with 2K…..not to say that EA doesn't have their own problems but 2K (the company) is horrid. Shame because I enjoyed NBA 2k9 last year.

Same here…MLB 2K9 was a complete disaster. I am not a big NBA fan anyway, so 2K is essentially dead to me.

Look…….Gimmick, gimmick, gimmick. Just a desparate last ditch effort from a failing company trying to milk every dollar out of the ONLY franchise they have left that is worth a damn.

Its pretty sad that they have to resort to giving away useless crap in order to make a buck. Bottom line is this. If the game is good, people will buy it. 100$ for an exclusive lobby is a joke.

Sorry 2k but this marketing strategy will fail miserably.

I'm kinda underwhelmed by the news.
I couldn't care less about a poster and a case. If you wanna sell an Anniversary edition, you gotta be smart and what give what gamers want. How about a copy of Nba 2k2 or 2k3, or an extra disc with some real legendary teams.
I don't buy the gold room thing. It reads great but that's pretty much it. They promise you naked chicks and champaign and at the end of the day all you get is a soft drink and some old Playboy issue.

if you are a true fan of the series or even a laker fan you would shell out the money for this…..i know I am…..live needs to step up their gameplay if they are to win my heart back, and this isn't a bad deal if you plan to put the things that are in the pack to good use, which I plan on doing so some need not complain……then again you cant please everyone nowadays for shit, and why da fuck would I want to play a dated sports game like 2k2 or 2k3? that makes no sense……..and my job pays me well enough to let me treat myself and splurge a little lol :)
