Next up for Madden…World Domination?

Just when we thought Madden couldn’t get any bigger, today comes word from EA Sport President, Peter Moore, that Madden ‘10 is already ahead of Madden ’09 in pre-sale numbers.

I just got the latest pre-sales numbers for Madden… and we’re now marginally ahead year-on-year with about ten days to go, last year on this call we talked about pre-sales and whether they were really a key indicator anymore for what the strength of the title is going to be out of the blocks… but we’re marginally ahead and the buzz we’re now starting to feel for the title is starting to build

For the first time I can remember, the game will be released on a Friday. I normally have to take days off from work, but this year is definitely going to be a plus for us working folk, since we’ll have most of the weekend to enjoy the game.

Also, if you’ve ever wanted to play Madden on a ridiculously large screen in Cowboy Stadium, now is your chance! But as Lee Corso would say, “not so fast my friend”. The event is invite only. You can find all the details at the PlayStation Blog.

Well it helps when you get a 5-min quarters demo of you pre-order the game. Otherwise I bet the numbers would not be as high. I know if it was not for the 5min quarters. I would not have pre-ordered it.

Ultimately I think we'll see the same pattern of the last two years. Sales will be up decently on the PS3 and they'll remain somewhat stagnant on the 360. I think they were right last year in pre-sales not being an accurate judge of how well the game is ultimately going to sell.

Pasta that is not true at all haha. PS3 has been decreasing in sales of PS3. Sales will be up on the PS2. PS2 has been outselling the ps3. So I would look that off before speaking out jibberish. Read the article on yahoo yesterday.

Thats not really "going out on a limb" Pasta. Madden is the only football game in town so you know all the 360 owners are going to buy it regardless of the constant complaining. Any increase in sales on the 360 will undoubtedly be attributed to new console sales.

As for the PS3, we all know how EA has screwed over the PS3 users with a substandard frame frate game. Last year they came correct on both consoles and with the new improvements to Madden 10 you will see the PS3 users come back in force. Also new console sales will undoubtedly render more sales as well.

I can see them selling loads more copies. The main reason is the addition of the sliders and the online franchise feature. The new sliders will bring over NFL 2K5 guys who wouldn't have played Madden, and the online franchise has a code to play it. Online franchise is a big feature and if you buy this game used, or have a modded XBOX, you won't get this in your used or downloaded copy of the game.
