EA Sports has released a new video featuring a few of the improvements that have been made directly to the gameplay for NBA Live 10. Producer Mike Wang describes the hustle plays, sizeups, and rebounding. The hustle plays and rebounding especially were areas that needed to be worked on going into this year and it looks like they’ve made significant enhancements in those areas.

Im a fan of 2k but i have no problem with sayng it looks like a big improvement over the past years. live has been gettn my money 2 long 2 go off looks again

live is on the rite track but the players still look like they did in live 06, and the movement just isnt rite.

you ppl make it seem like 2k created diving on the floor for loose balls and saving balls that go out of bounds sizeups and all that its apart of basketball thats why its in the fuckin game and it gameplay enhanchments as it says in the video for you slow ppl its not features why u dummies keep saying that i have no clue. live is on the right track they are finally learing how to use the engine they have to its full potential. say what you want bu live is a decent game its not great you can never create the perfect game but its fun to play. theres no such thing as the perfect game all u fanboys who praise 2k like its so perfect is so sad you ppl are just dillusional to admit that 2k is jus a mediocur basketball gaame that just adds a ton of animations to try and cover up theproblems the game has on top of that the game is dull after about a month the game gets boring cause theres nothing else to do in the game the game sucks online cant get a deceent game in ppl online but yea i guess thats a "perfect game"
  • they just put in things that 2K has had for years. That video just told us they added about 20 new animations to the game. SERIOUSLY? A whole year and all you come back with is diving animations, a crappy dribble mechanic that has been in 2K for years and makes more sense, and rebounding. SERIOUSLY? How hard was it to add a few animations to a game.

They need to just give up and go completely NBA Jam style, they can't win trying to compete with 2K.

What a bitch you jerk how ignorant can you be. Its just sad of what comes out of these lonely people mouth. Go to hell i expect this on youtube
  • Does this include 2K?
  • shavez
thank god for mike wang ea needed someone like him long time keep up the excellent work ea great job cant wait for the game to drop 2k has nothing on live 10
  • looks good, but i have to see some gameplay before i make my choice
  • God, why can I always predict what i'll see in these threads before I've even looked?
'2K had this already' '2k still king' whomp whomp whomp!
Geez. Yes 2K has had these features. This post has nothing to do with NBA 2K. These features are new in Live so it's a big deal. Yes I've been playing both every year since 2K5 so I'm well aware of whats been in both but it's not the point of the post. Stop justifying your prefered game choice by blabbing on about how great your favourite is. I know it makes some of you feel better about yourselfs but please get over it!
  • haha you SOB mike wang is trying to make live the shit again ..good luck

    Fas carl WHAT!
  • It doesn't matter if 2k already have diving...Live and 2K try to mimic REAL basketball and not each other.Whether it's a new idea or not doesn't matter .Its how it's implemented what matters. I for one don't want the two games to look exactly the same.Just use the basic PRINCIPLES of basketball well and be fun to play.
I want to see the PLAYBOOK work at last.I want players to stop sliding and the invisible wall in 2k9 to vanish when i reach out of bounds.I want to see real defence. In 2k9 i have to mess with the CPU COACHING SETTINGS, adjusting DOUBLE TEAMS so that my players can be free for a change. If you know basketball, you will see that GOOD PASSING GAME opens the court and brings players in position to shoot unmarked. In 2k9 this is impossible of the box.You have to mess with SLIDERS, COACH PROFILES,PLAYER SETTINGS, etc...I want my game to play great of the box.And surely give me all the sliders but PLEASE DON'T BE LAZY at this.
  • Exactly! If theyre copying anything, it's the real NBA! I thought that was the aim.
  • Go_Nuggets
Come on with all that live hate. All of you who are so adamantly against EA and Live shouldn't even be here. I find that live fans don't really do this to 2k games. Anyway It looks alot better than last years game. While I do find live 09 frustrating at times I still play it regularly. @ Stephensonmc we appreciate the activity within the community. What's good with getting the D-League and summer leagues in the game? Just something to think about in the future. And maybe incorporate the FIBA Tournament into the dynasty mode every few years or so?
  • ojeda37
fo real 2k fanboys get out, and everyone keeps refering these to features their not their improvements i will just wait for the demos to chose
  • DaJuice
dont get mad because Live is just adding these simple BASKETBALL moves into their game about 5 years too late. This games development is terrible.
  • JVal3208
For some reason, I continue to have faith in Live, even though I haven't bought it since '06 xbox. But I cannot support adding stupid features that should have been in it for YEARS. honestly, 2K5 had the sizeup. That's sad, EA. I'll continue to watch the progress of the game, but right now I'd rather play Live 2004.
  • Last year Live was knocked for not having certain aspects of the game implemented into its game (better rebounding, hustle plays etc) and now that they do put it in, I see a lot of "2K had it first, 2K has had it since then" If it makes sense to put it in the game and is an actual reflection of whats on the basketball court, how can you really knock it? I'm happy that they are putting this into the game, as basic as it sounds.

2K is hooking up with 82games.com so they can have their own "DNA" feature, but you don't hear people saying "Live had DNA first." Point I'm trying to make is, if it makes sense, why not implement it?

I swear some of you fanboys in here...just makes me wonder if you're really gaming fans at all or if you have stock invested in these companies.
  • Tim C.
But why do they act that it's a feature worth mentioning and it is only implement NOW when it's just the basics of basketball? It just shows you how far behind NBA LIVE is compared to 2K in the gameplay department which is the main component that consumers should look into when they buy a game.

I don't buy a game to look at it, i buy a game to play it and 2K has been superior in this aspect for the longest time, it's just now that LIVE is slowly realizing that the reason why they are best every year is b/c of their gameplay fundamentals.
  • Tim, at what point do they say this is a new feature? These are gameplay enhancements. The number 1 complaint about Live was the gameplay, so they've been pushing gameplay.

As for 2K being superior. At most they have been a mediocre franchise thats been heavily flawed; however, better than NBA Live. 2K basketball compared to other sports games has been a joke.

2K's success has been driven by the short comings and failures of NBA Live, so please get off the 2K bandwagon and actually see it for what it really is.
  • NELL86
I think people forget last gen nba live 2005 had all this in EA has been lacking on the next gen but i give them credit for trying to develop a new engine cleary somethin 2k hasnt done people just sound silly saying live copied 2k for something thats just in the sport

hey it's the time of the recession, ppl go wherever the money is. Then they say things to convince the fanbase that it wasn't about the money but it was because of the "direction" of the former company was going....Bullcrap
  • wow , so basically EA's strategy is to put in features that have been in 2k since NBA 2k4! just pathetic. do they realize they are 6 years behind? when a company focuses their improvements on rebounding and hustle plays, you know they are desperate. these are two fundamental basketball features. and they are just putting them in now? and how about that traitor mike wang? just pathetic wow.
  • Tim C.
WOW!! We're talking about diving for lose balls and saving balls from going out of bounds!? That's Incredible and it's something i've never seen before implemented in a video game!! LOL. 2K had this for the longest time and LIVE just now is trying to make it a selling enhancement!? This shows u how far behind LIVE is compared to 2K. Diving and saving balls is just part of basketball and should have been implemented from day 1, until LIVE gets the fundamental gameplay of Basketball101 right, there's no way it can surpass 2K and even if they get it right, i would still trust 2K for it's gameplay since it's ways ahead LOL.
  • Sean
I'm lkiking the diving plays and saving the ball or whatever, but the players don't look all so great...D. Rose looks pretty bad...2K Again for me.
  • And I heArd that 2k have a career mode this year Live step up your game eventhought your ttook wang does mean your taking over basketballl one person don't make a game. Mo diddley the man with the plan and the man with the stick ask your mother cause I have a huge dick
  • TreyIM2
Mo, my dude, Live has Be A Pro, already, if u didn't know that. Now, if they flesh it out more, that's another story. Not trying to defend Live, necessarily, but Live is stepping their game up. Live actually does have certain things I like about it over 2K such as using the right stick for doing your moves, which is now going to be split with the left joystick (should be interesting,eh? lol), the pick and roll/pop/fade system, the low post game, on the fly offensive play calling for individual players on your team along with on-court diagrams of the plays (hotness), 365/ DNA (may be the best innovation of all, especially since they say they've much improved it this year. We'll see), better arena sounds, better commentary with not as much repetition as 2Ks, and the controls, to a degree, felt better, overall, than 2Ks, imo, outside of the responsiveness, which I hear they did try to patch 09 last year which helped (I only played the 09 demo but bought 08). 2K has mostly more animations and the designers uber detailed oriented. I was glad 2K brought back the player controlled double clutch/change shot move that's been missing since Live, uhh, one of those old Live games. I don't understand how b-ball games have been missing this for so long.

Anyway, EA is trying to get what should be in the actual game of b-ball. They admit that their games have been void of what shoulda been there for a while, now.Try to be unbiased in your approaches, sometimes. I was a 2K b-ball guy for the longest but I never hate and stay hateful against something because I enjoy something more than the other. It sounds ridiculous and, honestly, a person just makes himself look stupid and childish coming off that way, not impressing anyone.
  • Mo diddley the person who shut up people
  • That picture that they showing is super ugly that can't be rose NBA live need to do a better job to catch up with 2k have you ever seen in a game when the person about to fall out of bound throw the ball at the at the opponent feet? I did in 2k so live step your game up
  • slamfan4life
that doesnt look like Rose @ all....atleast he has his hand tattoos
  • I never get tired of these videos with a developer basically saying that last year's game was a worthless piece of crap but this year's game will be awesome... Let's see what they'll have to say about Live 10 next summer...
I will have an opinion the day I'll see some actual in-game footage. So far, the hustling for the ball part makes me think that you can expect a lot of plays with some players literally flying out of bounds to keep a ball in bounds.
I also think that this vid really made the Suns fans happy. Steve Nash looks like the reigning MVP in it ! I hadn't seen him taking the ball to the hoop like that since 04/05...
