Last year Blue Ribbon partnered with EA Sports to provide the team ratings and scouting reports for the NCAA Basketball series. It appears that agreement has continued and includes NCAA Basketball 10. The Blue Ribbon Preseason Top 25 is presented by EA Sports and suggests this will be the Top 25 featured in the game. Also of note for NCAA Basketball 10 is a release date move to Tuesday November 17th just in time for the holiday sales rush.

While the Blue Ribbon Top 25 does not include corresponding team ratings for the game it does provide for the order and an idea of what teams to expect as the strongest. Below is the Top 5 teams. Continue on to view the full Top 25.

Who would have thought that after the way Kentucky finished last season (trust me it was the most disappointed I had been with the team since I became a fan in the 90s) that they would be considered one of the top 10 teams in the country. But, getting a proven good coach and thusly getting some really good recruits really does wonders.

Actually really looking forward to seeing what EA can do with this game this year. I really would like to see Teambuilder but thats probably not going to happen. Nice to see some love for Butler and Siena though, previous years it seemed EA disregarded any decent mid-major talen in their rankings. Maybe they are taking things more seriously this year.

Last years game wasn't bad but wasn't great and it was somewhat bare bones compared to any of their other titles, so I hope they can step it up a little. 2K did wonders with the Hoops series and it'd be nice to see EA give NCAAB the same kinda love.

    Hey Pasta,

Do you know when we are going to find out any information on this game? I am expecting online dynasty. Hopefully EA will deliver. Do you know if they are converting this year to the same shooting mechanics Live 10 is using now? Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks man.

I read that they are using the same engine so hopefully that means no more suck-in defense. March Madness 07 was solid and gave the series so much promise but the last two iterations were unplayable. The guy defending the ball would get stuck in some stupid lock on animation and took the control away from the player….

Louisville losing T'Will is huge, but they're sliding Samardo over to PF and having Jennings play C to soften Clark's lose by a good amount. Louisville is a much much better team than they're being given credit for.

I was just going to say how surprised I was that Illinois wasn't on the list, but they sneaked in at 25.

Bruce Webber has the same kind of team that lead them to the championship game back in 03 and I think they might be a dark horse this year.

Illinois is going to be similar to last year, if not a little better. Definitely going with a guard oriented team, which you are hinting at in your post. Illini fans have reason to be optimistic the next few years with the recruits coming in, but still give it a year or two yet!

This is a joke. Anyone that thinks Sienna and some of these other teams is top 25 and Mississippi State is not should not be making a list. I might purchase this game but if these are there ratings it's already 1 strike against the realism meter.

jusmegamer, why shouldn't a mid-major power be ranked? Almost always 2-3 of these teams crack the preseason top 25 and I've seen as many as 5-6 in the top 25 at any given time. Do you actually know anything about this year's Siena team?

I'm not totally downing Sienna but Mississippi State is in everyone's top 25 and even as high as 15 in some polls. My point is EA is off to a shaky start with realism and you know they will use generic rosters. This game will need superior gameplay and some other intriguing features to make it worth purchasing.

Mississippi State has a top 25 recruting class. 10 players from last year's team back and is ranked in everyone's publication except I guess EA and Blue Ribbon. EA had better have great gameplay (doubt it) and Online Leagues or Dynasties with 64 Teams (doubt it) to make up for this.

KU runs 9 or 10 deep, got the #1 recruit, his brother is coming over from Memphis, so Kansas is more than deserving of PRE-SEASON, pre-season #1, even though I believe they will be near the top for much of the season.

You guys are out of your minds if you don’t think Siena belongs in this Top 25 ranking. They are coming off 2 straight NCAA second round appearances and merely upset Louisville to break the sweet 16. Not to mention 4 of the 5 starters are returning, all of which competed on both of those NCAA teams. Just remember the name Edwin Ubiles, a touted NBA prospect for Siena.

I think that the top 12 is accurate and correct for the most part. I don't really agree with the rest of the rankings. I think Georgia Tech is very much overrated along with Syracuse, and I think Washington and Michigan are underrated. I don't really know why Oklahoma State is ranked for me. Siena maybe good, but I don't know if they deserve a 25 ranking over Mississippi State, or Clemson. Minnesota is overrated to me as well.
