Last year Blue Ribbon partnered with EA Sports to provide the team ratings and scouting reports for the NCAA Basketball series. It appears that agreement has continued and includes NCAA Basketball 10. The Blue Ribbon Preseason Top 25 is presented by EA Sports and suggests this will be the Top 25 featured in the game. Also of note for NCAA Basketball 10 is a release date move to Tuesday November 17th just in time for the holiday sales rush.
While the Blue Ribbon Top 25 does not include corresponding team ratings for the game it does provide for the order and an idea of what teams to expect as the strongest. Below is the Top 5 teams. Continue on to view the full Top 25.

September 20, 2009 at 9:54 am
O yeah since they push the date up there is no more excuses that ea has been making that ncaa comes out much later nov17 is only a month later it takes longer than a month to fifnsh a 82 game dynasty
September 20, 2009 at 5:23 pm
WTF @ Cal's rating
September 21, 2009 at 3:17 am
yeah….about to say the same thing……………..ditto with their football program also.
September 20, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Purdue at 6. That's a little low compared to most pre-season publications so far.
September 20, 2009 at 5:58 pm
tennessee at 10? wtf?
September 20, 2009 at 6:00 pm

September 20, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Syracuse should be in the top 10
September 20, 2009 at 11:22 am
Top 3 imo should be kansas mich.state and kentuckey
September 20, 2009 at 6:27 pm
you can go to hell!!!!! Kentucky sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 20, 2009 at 6:22 pm
North Carolina should be 1 not Kansas!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 21, 2009 at 3:50 pm
UNC lost way too much. Kansas returns almost everyone as well as MSU.
Preseason rankings don't mean squat, regardless….
September 20, 2009 at 6:39 pm
kentucky shoulds be in top 2
September 20, 2009 at 11:44 am
Who would have thought that after the way Kentucky finished last season (trust me it was the most disappointed I had been with the team since I became a fan in the 90s) that they would be considered one of the top 10 teams in the country. But, getting a proven good coach and thusly getting some really good recruits really does wonders.
September 20, 2009 at 7:14 pm
kentucky should be in top 3…
September 20, 2009 at 7:25 pm
Actually really looking forward to seeing what EA can do with this game this year. I really would like to see Teambuilder but thats probably not going to happen. Nice to see some love for Butler and Siena though, previous years it seemed EA disregarded any decent mid-major talen in their rankings. Maybe they are taking things more seriously this year.
Last years game wasn't bad but wasn't great and it was somewhat bare bones compared to any of their other titles, so I hope they can step it up a little. 2K did wonders with the Hoops series and it'd be nice to see EA give NCAAB the same kinda love.
September 20, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Whoever said nc should be #1 is dumb nc dnt really have the fire power that they did last year imo duke>carolina this tear
September 20, 2009 at 1:23 pm
Also kansas and msu is in the top 2 because of all the players they have returning for example msu have everyone returning exept 2 starters and 1 bench rider
September 20, 2009 at 8:37 pm
ok i know that louisville lost 2 of their best players but not ranked at all??
September 20, 2009 at 9:10 pm
hell yeah my siena top 25 bout time they get some respect
September 20, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Siena sucks LOYOLA!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 20, 2009 at 10:19 pm
Hey Pasta,
Do you know when we are going to find out any information on this game? I am expecting online dynasty. Hopefully EA will deliver. Do you know if they are converting this year to the same shooting mechanics Live 10 is using now? Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks man.
September 21, 2009 at 3:53 pm
I read that they are using the same engine so hopefully that means no more suck-in defense. March Madness 07 was solid and gave the series so much promise but the last two iterations were unplayable. The guy defending the ball would get stuck in some stupid lock on animation and took the control away from the player….
September 20, 2009 at 11:02 pm
Louisville not ranked after getting number 1 overall seed in NCAA tournament. Yea right
September 21, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Again, a team that lost a lot of its starters. Rankings are not based on last year, they are based on how many starters and key players are returning….
October 5, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Louisville losing T'Will is huge, but they're sliding Samardo over to PF and having Jennings play C to soften Clark's lose by a good amount. Louisville is a much much better team than they're being given credit for.
September 20, 2009 at 11:28 pm
I was just going to say how surprised I was that Illinois wasn't on the list, but they sneaked in at 25.
Bruce Webber has the same kind of team that lead them to the championship game back in 03 and I think they might be a dark horse this year.
September 21, 2009 at 12:00 am
c'mon man. It's Weber, not Webber. They made it to the championship game in 05, not 03
September 21, 2009 at 12:46 pm
Lol. I'm too much of an Illini outsider I guess. Hopefully you get my point though.
September 21, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Are you joking? He had Deron Williams, Luther Head and Dee Brown on that team. Augustine played in the NBA too. Noone on their team now compares w/ those guys!
October 8, 2009 at 5:28 am
Illinois is going to be similar to last year, if not a little better. Definitely going with a guard oriented team, which you are hinting at in your post. Illini fans have reason to be optimistic the next few years with the recruits coming in, but still give it a year or two yet!
September 20, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Good to see the Gophers in the top 25.
September 21, 2009 at 2:18 am
This is a joke. Anyone that thinks Sienna and some of these other teams is top 25 and Mississippi State is not should not be making a list. I might purchase this game but if these are there ratings it's already 1 strike against the realism meter.
September 21, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Blue Ribbon provides the rankings based on other pre-season polls, not EA so blame the media….
September 21, 2009 at 8:02 pm
What media? All the media outlets I see have Mississippi State in the top 25 and some top 15. On the other hand, none have Siena ranked other than Blue Ribbon.
September 21, 2009 at 2:19 am
No Love for my Noles again damn.
Nova or Texas should be num1 to me
September 21, 2009 at 4:54 am
I love minnesota at 14! Go GOPHERS! Tubby Smith is the man!
September 21, 2009 at 7:19 am
jusmegamer, why shouldn't a mid-major power be ranked? Almost always 2-3 of these teams crack the preseason top 25 and I've seen as many as 5-6 in the top 25 at any given time. Do you actually know anything about this year's Siena team?
September 21, 2009 at 8:05 pm
I'm not totally downing Sienna but Mississippi State is in everyone's top 25 and even as high as 15 in some polls. My point is EA is off to a shaky start with realism and you know they will use generic rosters. This game will need superior gameplay and some other intriguing features to make it worth purchasing.
September 21, 2009 at 2:11 pm
Or you can just download the 09-10 rosters for College Hoops 2k8 on 2k Share…
September 21, 2009 at 3:46 pm
lol as if you guys know college basketball
September 21, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Amazing how bad the Big Ten has gotten ripped as not being a strong conference yet six teams are in the top 25. Go State!!!
September 22, 2009 at 3:52 am
Yeah, man I agree. But it is nice seeing michigan back in the top 25.
September 21, 2009 at 5:18 pm
HEY PASTA, what do you think will drop first, the madden patch, or the roster update?
September 21, 2009 at 6:50 pm
So you are just going to take a Dump on Memphis like that? Wow. We only lost 3 players. We were #3 last year…..It's cool though. See you in the Tourney… I actually feel sorry for KY…. They have to deal with the Cali-ban now….
September 21, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Big Ten Dominates the poll
September 21, 2009 at 8:09 pm
Mississippi State has a top 25 recruting class. 10 players from last year's team back and is ranked in everyone's publication except I guess EA and Blue Ribbon. EA had better have great gameplay (doubt it) and Online Leagues or Dynasties with 64 Teams (doubt it) to make up for this.
September 22, 2009 at 8:25 am
KU runs 9 or 10 deep, got the #1 recruit, his brother is coming over from Memphis, so Kansas is more than deserving of PRE-SEASON, pre-season #1, even though I believe they will be near the top for much of the season.
September 23, 2009 at 2:18 am
yea siena will be legit again with ronald moore and edwin ubiles returning
September 22, 2009 at 7:23 pm
Dayton ooo yeah lol
September 23, 2009 at 6:19 am
How about LSU. We are good at every sport.
September 24, 2009 at 8:00 am
You guys are out of your minds if you don’t think Siena belongs in this Top 25 ranking. They are coming off 2 straight NCAA second round appearances and merely upset Louisville to break the sweet 16. Not to mention 4 of the 5 starters are returning, all of which competed on both of those NCAA teams. Just remember the name Edwin Ubiles, a touted NBA prospect for Siena.

Siena is loaded. Where is Rider?
September 26, 2009 at 3:20 pm
UK should be number 1!!!
September 26, 2009 at 10:54 pm
Sienna in the Top 25? and even more confusing, Wisconsin isn't? WTF???
October 17, 2009 at 6:39 pm
what about ucla
October 17, 2009 at 6:55 pm
I don't know if anyone has connections but I would like to see customizable top 25 rankings so that when they get it wrong at the beginning of the year you could change it to fit the week your in.
October 20, 2009 at 3:46 am
Big Blue is BACK WHAT UP MANNY AND PEEDI!!!! GO BLUE!
November 10, 2009 at 3:36 am
I think that the top 12 is accurate and correct for the most part. I don't really agree with the rest of the rankings. I think Georgia Tech is very much overrated along with Syracuse, and I think Washington and Michigan are underrated. I don't really know why Oklahoma State is ranked for me. Siena maybe good, but I don't know if they deserve a 25 ranking over Mississippi State, or Clemson. Minnesota is overrated to me as well.
