News on Two Future Biopics

Marlon Wayans has been confirmed to have taken the place of Eddie Murphy in the life story of legendary comedian Richard Prior. Wayans would seem out of his element for a film that, even as he’ll be playing a comedian, will have heavy dramatic elements to it. Apparently though he screen tested strongly impressing the producers and studio executives. Some comedic actors have turned in great performances in dramas and it looks like Wayans will have his chance to show his range in what could propel him to lead actor status in the future.

Jamie Foxx has been discussing his desire to take the story of Mike Tyson to the big screen. He plans to reunite with Taylor Hackford who directed him in the 2004 movie “Ray”, in which Foxx won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Ray Charles.

“Here’s this guy that could do no wrong, and everything he did, we loved it,” Foxx said of the angle he hopes to explore with help from Hackford…. “And then, when he wasn’t the heavyweight champion, anything he did was considered foul and just horrible.”

So what do you think, do the prospective biopics for Richard Pryor or Mike Tyson interest you? And how well do you think Marlon Wayans could pull off the role of Pryor?

When I read that yesterday about Marlon Wayans i thought wtf? I guess he's done too many stupid comedy type movies to take him seriously. I guess you have to start somewhere.

He can pull it off. Check out a movie he did a while back called "Requiem for a Dream." Dramatic role he was really good in.

I was about to post the same thing. I've been wanting to see him do more dramatic roles ever since I saw Requiem for a Dream. He has the potential to be a big name drama actor.

He has the look and has a lot of big screen experience albeit mostly B-roles. I think he can pull it off but he's not in Jamie Foxx's class yet.
