The downloadable only title Madden Arcade now has an official release date. It will be out on Tuesday November 24th on PSN and Wednesday November 25th on XBLA. It had been originally planned to make its way out in December. Madden Arcade will go for 1200 MS points for the 360 and the equivalent $15 for the PS3.

EA Sports has shifted their arcade titles to this method of downloadable only delivery, providing compact offerings at much more reasonable prices than would’ve been found at retail. 3 on 3 NHL Arcade was the first attempt at it and by all accounts it was a nice success. Continue on for the official trailer.

This is the problem rigt here, instead of working on a patch to fix broken madden 10 before the season ends! they are working on something like this instead to earn more revnue!

    • GoMagic

It has already been said that it is different dev teams. One doesn't have anything to do with the other.

Why doesn't EA just charge us $100 and give us everything instead of all of this nickle and dimeing. This is getting to be ridiculous . I bet the EA coffers have runith over with cash. Just do what Call of Duty did give us an authentic football or jersey and the game with all of these extras included.

    • Lake Allen

Well 2K tried to get people to pay $5 for what was a glorified demo. All companies do it. But you cant expect them to combine games. NHL 10 is such a deep game it would be insane to think they should also have included what you got with 3 on 3 Arcade.

Can't believe EA/Tiburon wastes development time on garbage like this. Whether it's 5 or 50 guys who made this trash, they could've been assigned to Madden to improve presentation, add in-game saves, etc.

Is EA/Tiburon never going to learn?

    • t daley

Keith, cmon, is it really that hard to figure out. EA has to release a sports game every single year and if they gave us everything we want then there will be no reason to buy another game. Its common sense man. Why do you think 2k suxs so bad now. They gave too much too fast and now they are relagated to releasing the same game each year with roster updates. I for on am not paying full price for a roster update. Hell, 2k can't even release a game that works anymore.

EA gives just enough to make it a worth while upgrade while taking note of player wants for FUTURE ITERATIONS OF THE GAME. So keep up the complaining. EA is listening and will give you what you want eventually. I am sure EA has a multiyear plan when it comes to its sports titles. I bet that they already know what Madden 15 will look like.

You can always improve graphics, franchise, and little things that would make the game more than just a roster update. I don't believe that EA is putting out a sub-par game on purpose. 2K didn't falter because they did too much too soon, it's because they got complacent. They keep reproducing a game with the same problems from years ago. No matter how good a game is, it will never be perfect, and will always have room for improvement. It's only when these companies ignore that where they lose ground.

NFL STREET 4 would have been a lot better!

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/pastapadre pastapadre

I would've preferred an updated NFL Tour but they're just not going to make games like Street or Tour anymore. They're committing to the downloadable method which offers more possibility for profit.

      • TJB

Yeah, i agree, Tour had potential, if they would of just done little things to make the game better it could of been successful!

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/DoubleC18 DoubleC18

I couldn't agree more. At least, playing on playground, beach, snowy streets, etc. was fun.

kinda sucks…hope they tweak the rosters a bit for the game…because currently the Chiefs have two players listed in the game that are no longer on their team (Larry Johnson and Bobby Wade)…

$15 is just too much for this title. They won't move many units unless they drop it to around 500 to 800 (max) MS points. It simply doesn't offer enough as a stand alone game, or to entice the average football gamer.

Question. Whats the difference between this and Madden 10?

    • http://www.2kfootballstrategy.com/ Valdarez

Player models, user interface (play calling), special effects (graphics for passing / catching), touchdown celebrations, number of players on the field (only 5 in arcade per side in arcade). It's basically a stripped down Madden game using the Wii player models (which I personally like) coupled with some arcadish style play.

I really think there is a market for it, and I might even give the game a try if it weren't so expensive. I'd give around 5 to 8 bucks for this (max of 1000 MS points) for something like this, but not $15 like they are asking.

First year it should have been dirt cheap to entice people to play / try it. I would have started it off at $5, then add new features next year, and raise it to 7.50 (see if sales hold up), if they continue to hold up, determine if a feature set that warrants another price increase can be accomplished (only so much you can do with a game of this nature), if not, then keep it at the price and build the team / product such that revenue can be upheld and profit margins obtained.

For a company with such a good at marketing strategy, they tend to make extremely bad business decisions on new products developed in house.
