When any movie is a massive success, let alone with the unprecedented nature achieved by The Dark Knight, there will always a lot of speculation surrounding a follow-up. Over the past year there have been reports of various castings being made which have not panned out as well as script ideas or simply the current status. The culprit for starting much of the rumors has been Michael Caine. He has now made news again with the following statement.

As for the future… if they ever make another Batman, I will be in, I will be the butler…But I don’t know if they are ever going to make another Batman. If they do it won’t be for quite a while.”

Previously Caine had stated that there was no way the movie could be made before 2011 because of the work director Christopher Nolan is doing with Inception. At this point the next Batman appears to be a long ways off but no one truly feels that it won’t ever happen.

I would really like to see another Batman by Nolan, but if there isn't one I'm very satisfied with the two films he did. It's like I'd almost not want to him to make one because I'm not sure he top The Dark Knight. There is still plenty of directions he could go, but I think The Dark Knight was the perfect storm.

Good points, Fred……however, it seems rather unfair for many of us to expect and label the possible third film to be the superior to dark knight…..but i also see what u mean…..why ruin the franchise by making another movie just for the sake of. Regardless, as long as the story is well written, along with good character development all the while staying true to Nolan's vision of the Batman world, I'm all for it.

Ya I have confidence in Nolan not making a crappy movie. I guess the point I was trying to get at was that it'd be very hard for him to top The Dark Knight. Not that it's not possible, but the Joker is probably the most popular comic book villian.
