New Moon Breaks Midnight Sales Record

Just a few days ago it was announced that advance sales for The Twilight Saga: New Moon had become the highest in history. New Moon can now lay claim to another record this time grossing the most money from midnight showings. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince had owned the record with $22.2 million but New Moon grossed $26.3 million.

Half-Blood Prince’s midnight take represented 28.5% of its full weekend gross. That movie had the advantage of opening in the summer though when more people are available to attend late night screenings. Twilight fans are certainly rabid and that will result in it being somewhat front-loaded though more in the sense of having stronger full weekend before dropping off faster in the coming weeks. Conservatively that could put the midnight gross at around 25% and have New Moon on pace to making about $105 for the weekend. Which, incidentally, would then break the record for biggest November opening weekend.

    MW2 cost 60 dollars a unit, one movie ticket cost under $10 Being an avid fan of something is not a crime and Since it annihilated the midnight release records, I am sure it will light fire for the weekend gross. What is wrong with humanity? There weren't 'perfect' people at the Dark Knight premeire, I actually think they were what do you call them? oh yea FANS thats right. Whats wrong with being a fan of something? Losing faith in humanity over entertainment sounds more dramatic then New Moon sweeping up broken records. Sad.

    You sure sound like a genius. How many showings are there in 24 hours? 7 or 8? I don't think so. I merely am a poor college student, so no I haven't seen it 7 or 8 times. I actually haven't even seen Twilight 7 or 8 times. So apparently you missed the point of what I said which doesn't surprise me since 70% of the nation doesn't attend or finish college. Now that when you lose faith in humanity, because everyone is sooooo STUPID haha PEACE
