The Heisman Trophy Presentation will take place Saturday night at 8ET/5PT on ESPN. It is really difficult to predict how things will turn out as there is no clear favorite to win it this year. With five candidates this time around different arguments can be made in favor of or against each player. Continue on to view the candidates and vote in the poll for the player you think deserves the award.

I think Toby Gerhart should win since he pretty much was Stanford's offense this year, but I don't think you could go wrong with Ndamukong Suh.

  • Hybr1dTh3ory0

First. SUH ALL THE WAY. but somehow they voters will find someway to fuck this up. They will pick the most "popular" player in Mccoy or Tebow. Instead of the most "dominant" in Suh. Don't get me wrong Tebow and Mccoy have done great things and led their teams to Great Bowl games. But Suh has Carried His Team and the entire Nebraska defense. But like I said because Tebow and Mccoy are poster boys for College football, one of those two will probally win.

Although, I doubt that a DT will win it Ndamukong Suh has been absolutely dominate. In a year where their is no clear cut offensive player due to average offensive seasons this should be the year that a defensive lineman wins it.

If it were a good system, my top three would be Gerhart, Suh, and Moore. In that order.

But that's impossible since we're talking about the Heisman.

I would like to Gerhart to get it. He more likely won't but it would be nice. All I know is if Tebow wins I will prtest because he doesn't deserve it what so ever for this year.

The qualifications for the Heisman say that it's the best player in college football. Not the most iconic (Tebow), not the ones with good pro prospects, and not the ones in the National Championship game. The best player period. Suh has been the best player. He's dominating guys. He runs through double teams, makes a ton of tackles, and is a beast all around. That being said, unfortunately defensive players, especially defensive tackles, who are not from perrenial top 10 schools would have a tough time winning the Heisman. The media buys into the Tebow and McCoy hype rather than focusing on the best player. Tebow didn't have that great of a year. I think it will be between Ingram and McCoy, but Suh is the most deserving, and it would be a shame if he doens't win

Not saying Suh doesn't deserve the heisman, but has anyone ever shot so far up the standing after one game. I am sure the guy played that amazing all year however 1/3 of his most important stat(sacks) came from that game. Granted the trophy isn't about who has the best stats. Its just interesting to see one guy shot so far up after one gama. I will give credit to Mel Kiper he has been preaching Suh for heisman all year. My crimson colored glasses are pulling for Ingram

Give D some love. Suh at the DT position has been just crazy. Maybe going to be #1 overall pick top 3 in the draft. After watching the Texas game to wow. Give D some love, come on man. (3 blocked kicks to damn nice, that's 9 points maybe he saved for his team)

I agree. Suh all the way. He was the most dominate player all year. I believe he had a game where he had 2 picks…2 PICKS FOR A DT!!! That's unheard of. He had 4.5 sacks IN A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME…Not a string of games, but a single game with a lot on the line against a quality, ranked opponent. He is easily the most deserving, but a DT will never win it.

I'd probably give it to Gerhart second. He was primarily the offense as someone has said. His stats are rediculous. Unfortunately, I don't think either will win.

This guy has been the most dominant defensive player pretty much all year. A lot of what he does doesn't show up in the stat sheet. He had a year this year that was similar to Albert Haynesworth year last year.

Toby Gerhart should win it. McCoy had a pretty solid year, but was surrounded by stud players and stumbled under pressure, Tebow would have won had they gone undefeated, Mark Ingram was a role player and accumulated most of his stats running out the clock, Suh had an outstanding year but is getting overrated for having a terrific game against Texas. Gerhart essentially won Standford 8 games and was by far the most valuable player to his team.

Ok look guys. You saw one game Suh played in…. one! Let me tell you about the game I saw him in. I work at a tv station in Waco and we have a sister station in Loncoln. When Nebraska came to town to play Baylor our sister station ask me to shoot the game for them…. well not just the game but Suh himself. I spent the entire game shooting Suh on every play.
Now let me tell you what I saw. One he did not make any big plays in the game… and two he took plays off! A lot of them. If the ball wasn't coming his way he did not go after it. I was really disappointed because I had heard what a beast he was.
So get over the uniqueness of a Dlineman in the heisman hunt. He had one crazy good game that happened to be a nationally televised game. Yes he a great NFL prospect but he does not deserve the Heisman because of one game….. the one game most of you saw. lol

I agree, but you can't take away from the fact he's a great player. I'd have to say he deserves 2nd in the Heisman voting because his numbers are still pretty amazing, but has become immensely overrated for 1 game, even if it was good. Gerhart was definitely the best player and biggest contributor to his team. It bugs the crap out of me how people say since Stanford went 8-4, Gerhart doesn't deserve the Heisman.. Nebraska went 9-4… 9-3 regular season, that's one game different.

I just think McCoy really kinda padded his stats against the bad teams this year. Against teams with winning records this year (5 games) he threw only 6 TDs and 7 interceptions and 956 yards (191 yards per game). If you say he probably ran some, in those games, he ran 1 touchdown. Against teams with winning records (5 games) Gerhart had 14 TDs and 756 yards (151 yards per game).

Now I really like Suh and what he's a heck of a player, but since the Texas game he's had a cult of personality around him. He's a very good prospect but hasn't changed any games outcome other than the Texas game, which happened to be nationally televised.

I love the Gators and I think Tebow should have won if they went undefeated. His numbers are good but a poor performance in the SEC championship (and a loss) took away from a near flawless year.

Mark Ingram winning would kind of be like a closer winning the Cy Young. He ran in a few short touchdowns and came in when winning to run out the clock.

I honestly think that Kellen Moore deserves a lot more respect. To go 39-3 with an undefeated team is pretty amazing. I think he should be considered for the Heisman instead of Tebow. My question is how he'd fare against some SEC or Big 12 teams.

Clearly Gerhart is the most complete player in all of college football and the only thing he doesn't have going is an undefeated season.

No matter what anyone says about Suh taking plays off or whatever. He was one second(bull$h!t play) away from putting the BCS in to pandamonium. HE did his best work against the Best Talent In The Country against #2 team in the nation. He showed up on the big stage and Colt didnt. One second from having the BCS system going down. SUH for President.

Yes, but that's still one game. One game of sheer dominance isn't really Heisman worthy. I still think Suh is a dominate player and is probably one of the best players in the NCAA, but his year long play hasn't been overwhelming enough for a Heisman.

If "One game of sheer dominance isn't really Heisman worthy." then why are people saying Ingram should win the Heisman based off his performance in the SEC Championship??

I agree. He is a great player and probably will be in the pros… that is if the Lions don't get him.

Gerhart is pretty amazing too. He's a beast. Is he a senior?

I think McCoy will win it. The Heisman always vote on many factors that we don't think should play a role in the vote. Like Ingram is a sophmore so I think he's screwed from the start. Yes I know Tebow won as a sophmore… but he's the exception… not the rule.

McCoy or Gerhart would be my picks… 1 and 2 either way.

So your argument is that you can't judge his success by one game but you can judge his failures in one game huh? Sounds a bit hypocritical. News flash but most defensive linemen don't chase after every play on the other side or down the field all game. The man is 300 pounds and is constantly double teamed he is not going to run after every single play on the opposite side of the field this isn't madden. The Heisman should go to the best player this year and you can't tell me that outside of Gerhart that there is a better player. Also given that Suh's competition was better makes it more of an obvious choice. For a defensive tackle who is constantly double-teamed to get almost 100 tackles in only 14 games is mind boggling. So just because you just started hearing his name on ESPN and watched 1 average game you can't make a claim that he is overrated. P.S. in that game against Baylor he had 5 tackles and 1 sack

You covered him one game and who cares about which network LOL. Really are we suppose to all be impressed? So what did you think of Tebow missing open WR's or his lack of arm & quick decision skills strength to get the ball to his players & choking in the biggest game of the season? What about Colt McCoy throwing 3 INT's and no TD's while also almost blowing the game on a boneheaded play in his biggest game of the season? Or what about Mark Ingram and his 30 yard rushing no TD's against an Auburn team left for dead towards the end of the year? Last, how about Toby Gerhart and his 82 yards rushing and no TD's against that powerhouse Wake Forest Demon Deacons?

Did you cover all those games for CBS? If you did you would say the same thing about everyone else. The man plays in a system where he isn't even suppose to get any sacks or a lot tackles. Yet he has over 80 tackles and 12 sacks. That would be equivalent to a QB who only throws the ball 10 times a game yet still gets 300 yards and 2 TD's.

Ingram is at least equal to that of Gerhart. His TDs are not as high and yards. But he did it on less carries. Plus the defenses in the SEC are far better than most the Pac 10. God forbid Ingram got the chance against Norte Dame. Also Ingram wasn't in games once they were already over. Unlike Gerhart, who was still scoring TDs late against USC once the game was over. I won't make a judgement on Suh, because I can honestly say I only watched one game of his.

There is not a clear favorite so I would have to say McCoy or Ingram. Yes, I'm from Austin but we know how they are going to vote.

Suh is beast, but he did get most of his hype for the Big 12 championship. I don't believe a defensive player is going to win just with the numbers he put up and he's not the best player in college football, just the most dominate defensive player.

Toby Gerhart did put up great numbers and was Stanford's offense, but Stanford also lost 4 games. They beat the great teams, but then loss to some of the weaker teams. Gerhart was the best running back, but I don't believe he is the best player in college football.

Tim Tebow had a good season, but it was not Tebow like of the past. He put up better numbers last year and came in third. I don't think he will get many votes.

Kellen Moore and Case Keenan had better stats then McCoy, but they didn't get nominated. Every team plays some weaker teams and even though Colt didn't have superb games in all his performances, he still found a way to win at the end and led his team to the National Championship.

Same for Mark Ingram. He wasn't a beast every game, but he put up good numbers all year. Not Gerhart numbers, but he was a big part of Alabama's offense and also led his team to the National Championship. But you also have to factor in that he is a sophomore. He didn't put up Tim Tebow sophomore numbers.

So with that said, HOOKEM HORNS!!!!!

wow… ingram is most deserving.. i mean come on.. he plays in the sec .. the hardest confrence. he got over 160 total yards vs florida the number one deffense.. gehart has more yards but also many more carries. ingram splits carries with the other future heisman trent richardson. no one would put suh in the conversation except his big game in texas infront of a large tv audience. his stats from the whole year before that were not that amazing. colt mccy throws alot of pics.. ingram fumble once this yyear for the first time in his career, plus he is a sophmore.its not just bout what he does with the ball.. but he gets his team the wins. mccoy almost lost them the game with nebraska by almost running the clock out..

Considering McCoy had subpar games in the biggest games of the year – yeah, he's overrated. He's thrown the most INT's in the top 30 QB's in the nation.

Suh dominated him all night long in the Big 12 Championship. McCoy almost (really did, but he got bailed out by officiating) blew the game by not calling a timeout or paying attention to the clock.

Suh all the way. He's the most deserving and the most talented player in college football. He dominated his conference championship more than Ingram did in his. I'm a big SEC fan, but I have to say Suh is the better player than Ingram, McChoke, or Teblow.

Nebraska lost the Big 12 Championship in spite of Suh's performance – had the officials not bailed Texas out, McCoy would have looked like a dud on the big stage. His stats were no better in a win than they were in a loss. Nebraska did more to lose that game on the final drive than McCoy did to win it (kickoff out-of-bounds and a horsecoller tackle – only reason UT was in FG range).

I would like to see Suh win it. This is just going to prove that the Heisman trophy is a joke. The Heisman trophy is supposed to go the the best player. Tebow has been shut down, McCoy has been shut down, Ingram has been, and so has Gerhart. Suh has not, there has not been one game were a team has been able to stop him.

Most teams double team him and some triple team him. Yet he is still able to just destroy offensive lines.

Kellen Moore deserves it more than any of those guys. Carrying Boise State undefeated and only throwing 3 INT’s all year and 39 touchdowns! If he don’t get it this year he deserves in years to come if he continues. My other pick would be Toby Gerhart. A WHITE GUY RUNNING BACK! When’s the last time that there was one that scored 28 touchdowns and ran for 1,700 yards?
