New Innovative Madden On The Way

During a conference call today EA CEO John Riccitello mentioned an “innovative and new take on Madden” would be arriving in the upcoming fiscal year. No further details were provided which means speculation is naturally going to spiral out of control. Given that he stated this “new take on Madden” would arrive sometime in fiscal 2011 (April 2010-March 2011) it is probably not at all related to the standard yearly version of Madden that will release for the 360 and PS3.

I would think the statement would most likely be in reference to the Wii where Madden has really struggled to gain traction and actually fell off this year from already low sales numbers. EA Sports could try and revamp Madden for the Wii again or maybe Riccitello was making reference to the NFL Trainer game that has been rumored but yet to be announced. It could also be related to Project Natal which will launch in November opening the possibility of a motion controlled version of Madden for the 360.

This statement though does come just days after announcing that Mark Turmell has joined EA as the Creative Director for NCAA Football and Madden. Whether it is just a coincidence or if the two pieces of news are linked in some way is something to consider.

They should just bring back the NFL quarterback challenge. I can see the white football peripheral now.

I used to love playing those games back in the day.

EA needs to focus on one aspect of football and apply the WII motion capabilities to it. Football in its entirety will never be fun to play by flapping your arms around the living room.

If EA want to see any kind of football success on the WII, they'll use the Madden name to make another QB challenge game.

I hope the new take on Madden is them not making it.

That would take a stand up organization and EA is not that

So, the game voted # 1 by EA fan-boys and brain-dead people alike on this site admits that they need to be more innovative and that the game is stale. Totally not a surprise. I just wish people could be more truthful Madden lives because they eliminated the competition and no other reason. Madden is a garbage representative of Simulation football. As I have stated in the past the came should be called Madden Offense because there is no defensive focus. Here is a idea EA, focus on defense that would be innovative.

I love when game developers use the term "innovative". They just seem to set themselves up for failure. Half of all things innovative that are in the gaming industry or else where are met with alot of criticism. I hope its something related to Natal and not just an add on to Madden 11. I hope they learn when they try to accomplish to much with Madden all they do is come up short in areas that should be handled early in developmet. Like the little things people crack at like the way the ball spins and replay angles.
Mainly i hope whatever they do that Madden gameplay is much improved. I could care less about roster updates as long as the gameplay is perfect on release day.

I'm hoping it relates to the PC version. There is so much untapped potential in PC games (online leagues). Madden is overdue for a quality PC game.

    Problems with Madden 2010

    1. Why in the world would guys like Matt Ryan a 97 overall franchise QB in his mid 20's be a free agent? in all my franchises Matt Ryan and other great young franchise players become free agents around year 5. This needs to be fixed.

    2. In franchise mode when you fire your head coach, no matter what team you are and hire a new head coach who isn't one of the 32 already in the league as head coaches are always called Jim Mora Jr by the guys doing commentary. So if I hire Russ Grimm, Leslie Frazier, Mike Martz, etc… any of those guys will be called Jim Mora Jr during the game.

    3. Rookie ages. When I import NCAA draft classes into Madden some rookies come out 25 years old, that's insane. Why not let us edit rookies so we can fix this?

    4. No practice squad? its 2010 and we still don't have this? wow.

Now that Madden is a PS3 first game, look for the snap to utilize the motion pad crap. Jerk the pad up to snap the ball.
