Summit Entertainment will be extending on the concept introduced in the movie Push by turning it into a TV series. The Hollywood Reporter has the details which includes screenwriter David Hayter scripting the pilot. He is best known for writing The Watchmen and the first two X-Men movies. No network has been attached to the project yet.

The series will purportedly be an extension of the science-fiction thriller, centered on people with paranormal powers who band together to take down a corrupt government agency. “The concept behind the ‘Push’ feature film offers a broad and rich canvas on which to extend the story line and characters introduced in the feature film.”

I actually liked some of the elements of Push and found the film at least to be entertaining. I could see the TV show being along the lines of Heroes in that there are different classes and powers and interest in how they could come together and mesh. There is also the potential for more in the way of a backstory for each character compared to Heroes which basically started with the personal discovery of the powers rather than how they dealt with carrying them throughout their lives.
