Tomorrow presents two intriguing Conference Championship match-ups. In the NFC the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints could deliver a very exciting game as both teams have good offenses and big play defenses. Over in the AFC the Indianapolis Colts offense will be challenged by the New York Jets stellar defense.

So I took both of these games and watched them play out through a sim in Madden 10. Continue on to view the results and stats. Leave your thoughts in the comments regarding the simmed results as well as who you think will come out on top Sunday!

AFC Championship: Jets @ Colts

1st Half
After forcing a 3 and out to start the game the Colts got the ball and were driving down the field effortlessly. That was until Darrelle Revis picked off a pass to change the outlook of the entire game. Another INT this one by Calvin Pace as Peyton Manning was hit as he was throwing. Both turnovers led to the Jets reaching the red zone but only coming away with FGs.

The Jets defense held strong until late in the second quarter when the Colts went on a 75 yard drive that resulted in a Reggie Wayne TD pass which made the score 10-6 Colts at the half.

2nd Half
It looked like the momentum was completely in the Colts favor as they opened the second half with a kick return all the way down to the four yard line. Another TD pass to Reggie Wayne and it was 17-6. However the Jets fought back with a FG and then on the next drive a big pass to David Clowney led to a TD run by Thomas Jones. The two point conversion was good to tie it at 17.

Manning was picked off again this time by Lito Sheppard and that turned into a Shonn Green TD. Late in the 4th the Colts had a couple drives to try and tie but with under two minutes left Manning was picked yet again. The Jets would tack on a FG with just 20 seconds remaining for the 27-17 win.

Stats
Manning: 14-35-182 2TD 4INT
Sanchez: 21-36-259 0TD 0INT
Addai: 15-65
Greene: 14-92 TD
Jones: 9-25 TD
Clowney: 7-122
Collie: 6-79
Wayne: 3-35 2 TD
A. Johnson: 2 sacks

NFC Championship: Vikings @ Saints

1st Half
The Saints opened the game driving down quickly as Drew Brees started hot but they ended up with just a FG. The Vikings answered back moving down to the five yard line where Adrian Peterson fumbled and it was picked up and returned all the way for the TD by Malcolm Jenkins. The Vikings recovered though with a 15 play drive that resulted in a Peterson TD run.

The ensuing possession had Brees throw a backwards pass as a fumble which was recovered by Minnesota. The very next play was a 49 yard TD pass from Brett Favre to Visanthe Shiancoe. Madieu Williams then picked off Brees and the Vikings got a GB out of that. Brees made another mistake as the half was coming to a close and got picked. Favre to Percy Harvin TD then made it 24-10 Vikings at the half.

2nd Half
Things finally calmed down in the third where both teams had their first punts of the game. Late in the quarter the Vikings got back into a rhythm and got into position for a 12 yard TD pass to Sidney Rice. The Saints couldn’t get anything going on the ground all game and at this point had to start airing it out.

After getting nothing on the next drive the Saints defense made its second big play of the game by picking off pass that was tipped by the receiver, hit off a defenders helmet, and then caught by Jabari Greer taking it for the TD. That provided some hope with nine minutes remaining down 31-17. But Minnesota answered with a drive that chewed up six minutes and resulted in a FG that basically seemed to have clinched it.

It wasn’t over yet though. Brees was able to get a 20 yard TD pass to Marques Colston but the onside kick failed. The Vikings nailed a FG with 1:35 remaining but quickly the Saints struck again with a 68 yard TD to Robert Meachem. That made it 37-31 with 1:09 left. The Saints then recovered the onside kick. But after moving down to the 32 yard line Antoine Winfield picked off a pass to seal it. Vikings win 37-31.

Stats
Brees: 23-34-340 2TD 3INT
Favre: 18-31-240 3TD 1INT
Peterson: 27-128 TD
Meachem: 5-122 TD
Colston: 5-80 TD
Harvin: 5-68 TD
Shiancoe: 4-84 TD

  • Scottyo60
My roomate and I actually played the games on saturday. I was the Vikings and Colts him Jets and Saints... Our Saints Vikings game ended 24-21 in overtime. The Colts Jets went 34-17 and had many scary similarities to the real game lol. I was overall shocked after Favre through the pick and it ended like it did. Time for the Superbowl
  • billy
when i say "your sucess" i just mean "their". sorry
  • If the real team, I am guessing you are referring to the Vikings, could hang onto the ball then they would be going. And to say they don't deserve to go is garbage. They won in the only stat category that counts -- The scoreboard...
  • rob
Last night's game broke my heart. The Saints do NOT deserve to be in the final. They should admit this, and then let the real team go into the final.
  • Quan
True that. Saints are overrated. Vikings beat themselves last night.
  • Breesus
or maybe it was just the Saints defense making plays...
  • AmenRa
Looks like MAdden sucks at predicting playoff-results...Actually you would have to have run about 100 sims to get a statistically relevant sample but I digress.....
  • congrats to the newly crowned The New Orleans Saints and they made the history.
  • Hines Ward
    Stats... FAIL
  • Boomchakalaka
EA fails at sim......Colts & Saints won and everyone knew they would, SMH!
  • Are you serious? Because a game didn't predict the actual winners it is reason to say it fails? The Vikings SHOULD have won. They dominated in every aspect. The Jets had every opportunity to win that game. No one would have thought they would have been up 11 points on the road.

    Just more idiocy....
  • Breesus
all I have to say is Madden sim FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • dolphins
    agreed lol
  • CMart23
...and wrong on all accounts lol
  • Rude Boy
Yeah Madden 11 AP better have a carry rating of 40 SERIOUSLY!!!!
  • John
Colts vs Jets almost right but Colts winning instead.
  • I personally don't care who wins either game since I like every team involved. One thing that is missing from the Jets - Colts equation is the ability of the Jets to run the ball. And everyone stating that Sanchez isn't a QB that can make a difference, someone please talk to the Chargers defense....He was the reason they won last week. He made solid throws when he needed to.
  • billy
h just didnt fuck up. he was not the reason they won. i read a statistic saying that jamarcus rusell if asked to do what sanchez has been asked to do, jamarcus would have led the jets to the afc championship game. thats just sad. look sanchez did what was expected of him. he didnt make mistakes in big situations but nate kaeding handed the jets the victory. they played well on defense but with 3 more field goals against them everything changes. oh and the jets should not have even been in the playoffs considering if the colts played their starters during the reg season in the second half they would have lost just like the afc chamionship. your success is based on a fluke. i dont even see playoffs for them next year again., because what experience has sanchez gotten? he has learned to hand the ball off but when asked to do anything in a game to make it a game he has fallen flat. ie interceptions during the year and not scoring any points in the second half against the colts d. so in my mind hes still the same rookie for next year..

I still think the Colts - Saints matchup is the one everyone wants to see. I like the Vikes but I want to see the Saints finally get to their first Super Bowl....
  • ChargersFAn maniac
man, the jets have a great defense thats for real, but they are not the 2000 ravens..and thats a fact. every team they beat, is not for what they did..the other team always lose by their mistakes..and every body knows payton is a free-mistake QB...
  • 42054
    Go Vikes!!!!
  • I don't wanna see the Jets in the SB. Nobody wants to endure another Superbowl a la Ravens/Giants back in 01. And that's how it'd look like with the Jets. The only difference is that Sanchez is a better QB than Dilfer...
Colts/Vikings seems to be the better matchup.
  • Jets Key to winning. Revis on Wayne. Lito on Collie. Double Garcon. Bart Scot helps Rhodes on Clark.
  • Jose
    Who is Shonn Green?
  • David
Really? You don't know who Shonn Greene is? He single handedly made the Hawkeyes a threat in '08 and he single handedly carried the Jets to the AFC Championship game.

2003: Indianapolis Colts at. New England Patriots (24-14 Loss)

Manning: 23 of 47 for 237 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. QB rating: 35.5.
  • ChargersFAnmaniac
AT...PATRIOTS... give that stat on the dome... please..
  • Steve
Wow... you have to go all the way back to 2003 to prove your point. Well done.
  • Mad Hatter
and how come in the last photo the S (number 31 Prioleau) is outside the endzone?
  • Mad Hatter
I love how there is 8 INT and not one in thrown by Sanchez... dont believe this at all!
  • pirate
Manning will not throw 4 INTs. That's why I traded in Madden.
  • uncoolguyjoe
Colts have too many weapons. I say Colts top the Jets
  • Dcu
Get real saints vs. Colts (the Archie manning bowl)
that's the real result Brett favre is too old and the jets won't win plan & simple....
  • Brettbro
do you even watch the games? too old? lmao
  • Dcu
Yes brett is too old... The viks will blow it just like they did against the falcons 11 years ago. Ha!!!
  • J WoNdA BrEaD
brett may be 40 years old but he's been taking some serious punishment and he just keeps getting back up over and over again. Dcu, you're 100% percent wrong. If the Vikings loose, it will not be because of Favre (who has been carrying them in the playoffs this year thus far)

    gettat me chump
  • Dcu
And Brett lost the game again....lmao!!!
