If you’ve ever wanted to see Spiderman swing from building to building in 3D, well now is your chance. According to MTV.com, Sony has confirmed we’ll get to see Peter Parker in 3D.

Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we’re thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3-D,” Jeff Blake, chairman of Sony Pictures worldwide marketing and distribution, said in the statement. “Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc’s fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise.”

Last month we learned that the new film would be based off the “Ultimate Spider-Man” comics, and focus on a teenage Peter Parker. Add to that the news we’ve learned today, and the things are starting to take shape. Does this raise your level of excitement for the movie? If the response in our forums is any indication, things just got worse. The film is scheduled to begin shooting later this year, with a release date of July 3, 2012.
