Thoughts on the Final Madden Roster Update

Pasta that is Bull… they played this season! That should be taken effect next season! If thats the case rookies are drafted this year and they are not gonna add them till next year!

I dont think its fair to remove them, especially if a guy in the Super Bowl retired after the game. Would he still be in the game, when others were removed? It seems ridiculous that some retired players would still be in the game while others were not.

Still cant believe they took him out. Now Cardinals fans are stuck with Matt Leinart for the next six months while facing teams who'll have guys that end up leaving teams in just a few weeks. Can we get some consistency from EA please? Damn

I think you only care because it's Kurt Warner that was taken out. If it was a 3rd stringer that barely played and retired, you would not care.

Nevertheless, I voted that “players that retired following completion of their season” should be removed.

Imagine if Brett Favre had said he was retiring right after that game. EA would have removed him? Something tells me they wouldn't have. You just cant take something that happens during the beginning of the offseason and apply it to the game that is for the past year. EA wouldn't add Kurt Warner back in come March if he changed his mind…

They should not do this. Madden 10 represents THIS season under which Kurt Warner was the QB. Was it Matt Leinart throwing crazy stats in the Wild Card round? No…that was Kurt Warner, THIS season. I understand Madden 11 should have it. But if they are going to remove Kurt Warner for Madden 10 then they should do all other moves this offseason in this game.

ALSO, there needs to be an online franchise roster update. It's rediculous, guys like Chris Johnson/Mike Sims-Walker/Brett Favre/Miles Austin/Aaron Rodgers are all very underrated.

Perhaps they should have removed Favre last season, or the Bus in 05 after the SB….Yeah, they just lost their damn minds this year, but that's par for course. If they're gonna start removing players who retire AFTER the season, maybe they should just add all the offseason free agent moves, as well as the draft, then I won't have to buy next year's Madden!!

I have no problems with them taking guys out of the game who have retired IF we have the option to download previous updated rosters. I don't have Madden anymore but I don't believe they have this option.

Already gave my thoughts on the situation but heres a quick question Pasta, what is EA going to for the next couple of NFL years that are in question. Obviously I'm talking about the uncapped year and also a year in which the NFL season might not even happen. If there is no season is EA just not going to make the game? I assume Madden is one of the big money makers and if there is no NFL, they could take a financial hit no?

he is retired for the 2010-2011 season. he played the full 2009-2010 season which is what Madden 10 is about.

Torry Holt was released today. So why do Jags fans have him on the team for the next six months but Cardinals fans don't have Warner?

Where were yall when i was crying about T.O getting Hit every week. He ran the fastest 40 yard reverse i ever seen.(self explanatory) i didn't see a lost of step.

I think those 25% misread the question. Complete bullshit by the way. Ive been waiting a while for the last update to start a new franchise, but between this and the rediculous sim stats(1000X better before last patch i didn't see why it neeeded tweaked) i don't really care to

One thing i did notice, by removing Warner from the game, it basically makes it impossible to get all the trophies in the game now, as there is a specific one for picking off Warner….. will the trophies be updated to reflect the fact he is no longer “in the game”??? poor form again EA!!!

its bull, now when i start a franchise matt leinart is the starter for the start of the season which is not true, and i dont even have the option of putting warner back on the team

This is a good point and I think your the first to bring it up here. Knowing EA they will probably tell you, you can “create” Kurt Warner and get the trophy. I think the trophy thing alone shows that EA wasnt thinking when they did it.

Makes completely NO SENSE. The players who retired should still be in the game even as FA's. Their retirement should only be felt starting in Madden '11. Also, if EA never did this before, why now?

It's Madden 10 not madden 10 and a half or 11… Players that played in that season should stay in the game. The teams should be complete. It's not like you can replace Warner with a Free agent or a drafted player that would be taking his place at this point. The team is literally incomplete

For a second I thought this had something to do with the NFLPA. Now knowing this was done by choice, I am completely irate about it as a longtime Madden fan. I bought a game with 2009-10 rosters that aren't there. What is the point about buying the DLC to use a Hometown Hero or Unretire if the retired players will be pulled immediately?

if a player is suspended for 4 games…or the season…or whatever…

they are removed from the game and no one bats an eye…

even though they MAY have started the season with that team…

retirements are being handled correctly…

they are no longer in the league…and therefore can't be on the roster…

They had no interest in making accurate rosters during the season, why after the super bowl is this now the case? At this point they should just leave the rosters alone since the season is over. You want fluid rosters. you have to accept that he isn't in the NFL anymore. Mike Vick was removed and returned on the closest update to the news. Yes the coaches who got fired should be removed to. Mike Shannahan should be washingtons coach, chan gailey with the Bills.
Online franchise shouldnt replica real life updates because your franchise is separate season from the real nfl. You may have made trades, so how should a guy get an upgrade when he didnt excel with the team you might have him on. Online Franchise should have player progression.

kurt warner retired before the final roster update. The BUS retired after the SB and the final roster was already out that year. In the offseason most madden gamers do the trades anyway or make a few rookies, just see what next year's players gonna looklike. Thats offseason. kurt warner needs to be readded. the cardinals 09-10 team is the team represented in the game. the cardinals never played a game without him this year, so there is no reason for him to no longer be in the game. its bs that if i feel like starting a new franchise this offseason the cardinals wont have a qb

This is dumb. Every update should improve the realism of the game. This does not do that. In addition, I can imagine that if I were an Arizona Cardinals fan, I would probably be a Kurt Warner fan. If I can’t play with Kurt in March or June, I think it makes it less likely that I play the game at all.

if you start a new season, you might trade for a offensive lineman for the Cards, any trade that didnt happen makes your franchise, yours, dont compare it to the season.

to be honest i wish that madden would skip years in between games and only do roster updates, but really stay on top of them. most of the time the game from year to year is just about the same with a few little things thrown in. instead i wish that they would do madden 11 as pure roster updates and patches, like giving you wembly stadium as a playing field or something, and take the time to make madden 12 the best of the franchise.

Like I said before, I’m fine with using Matt Leinart. He does have one of the best ratings for a Backup QB.

But I don’t like being forced to use him in a game for the season where Warner was the starter for the entire year. Warner should have stayed, they can take him out for Madden 11 but not Madden 10.

One of the things I like about Madden was the fact that I was using the roster from the actual team. If they retire, they should be removed from the roster just like real life.
