MLB 2K10 Demo Videos

After a lengthy process my first HD videos of the MLB 2K10 demo are now live. The recording is one of the first times I played through and it was 3am so there are a few quirks. For example there is a stretch where I throw three or four consecutive wild pitches not realizing I was doing the changeup motion instead of the fastball motion. Also I started rushing things near the end of the second video as I was trying to complete the demo within the 10 minute time limit placed on uploads. I’m continuing to post some impressions on Twitter and my full article with everything gathered will be posted tomorrow. Continue on to check out the videos and leave your thoughts in the comments!

why is it that most people complaint about the numbers and letters on the jerseys if you stop being so petty you would realise that 2k has made great stridescompared to last years game and im really excited for the new my player mode

I dont care what 2K has done that doesnt change that the numbers and letters on the jerseys look completely terrible.

  • JESUS, yes, that one!

Stop comparing it to THE SHOW, it isn’t that game. This is the start of something great for 2K. The demo is fantastic. The graphics, gameplay, framrate and animations are 100% improved. It does feel a bit like an arcade but there’s no problem with that. It’s a godo game and if this is the demo then I can’t wait for the real deal when it has the commentary and looks a little more cleaned up. Great job by 2K and with Pettite I was mowing fools down, YER’OUT!

i completely agree with you im so sick of people whining about the jerseys and how the show does this and the show does that if you want the show then just get it and stop talkin stupid

I’ve watched the videos & I gotta say the game does look pretty clean & smooth. I’m about to hit the demo myself to get a first hand take. I’m still not expecting a whole lot from 2K though. Remember that this is just a demo. Last year the demo received some praise too until people got it home & discovered the debacle it truly was. There’s still things that annoy me about the game. I love the presentation & player models look better (still not to my liking, but better) but the animations leave a lot to be worked on still. They have the right idea with some motions (some of them even look better than The Show) but it’s still not fluid enough & feel quirky. Mainly outside the pitcher batter showdown. The Show’s game excels in that department where everything looks so fluid & natural. But before I get into all that let me hit the demo and take it form there.

    Demo impressions

    Pros:
    - Statistical overlays…love seeing the hitter’s AVG, HR and Ks after a 0-1, 2-1, 3-1 counts, etc.
    - Improved lighting
    - Pitching and hitting feedback…It does hearken back to the MVP days with the picture in picture feedback for hitters. And actually seeing what your bad pitch gesture looks like helps you get better.
    - Very accessible. Easy to pick up and play. And quite fun, I may add.
    - Stadium sounds…cheers and chants were cool to listen to. Der-rek Je-ter!

    Cons:
    - Game feels too fast…the ball flies off the bat. Plus, the way the infielders throw the ball to first, seems so quick. The camera flies around and you can’t really tell what’s going on. I think this leads to some people’s impression that it’s more arcade-like.
    - Animations are still off…runners don’t seem to always fully run through first base on grounders. It’s like as soon as the ball reaches the first baseman, they stop in their tracks.
    - Making contact in general is too easy.
    - The ball doesn’t spin…12-6 curves look like knucklers on replays.
    - Pitch speeds are slow…will be corrected with difficulty settings and sliders I’m sure.
    - Player of the Game selections are odd…Nick Johnson when 0-1 with a K in one game and was awarded the honor. Yankees won that game on a run that scored thanks to hits by Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada.

    Meh
    - Graphics overall. It’s a decent looking game, but nowhere near the graphics of “the other game.” Those are what I’m used to, so the difference is quite noticeable.
    - Jersey numbers…already been commented on at length.

Very solid demo for MLB 2K10. You can see progression from last year for sure. Lots of issues in 2K9 came in forms that could not be seen in a short demo (freezing, stat errors, broken Franchise mode, etc.), but gameplay is on target.

Hopefully Xbox-only owners will finally have a baseball game they can enjoy.

I’ve already found a problem within the demo. I caught the opposition in a run down. I threw the ball to 3rd & figured I’d hold on to it. The player obliviously ran 3 quarters of the way towards 3rd, slid, my player slapped the tag & was called safe. lol

played the demo a few times and have absolutely no interest in any more of it. arcadey, poor graphics, the game isnt for me.

You can sprinkle sugar on dog shit and it's still dog shit..That's what 2k did this year!! Long live The Show!!

I'm gonna have to disagree with that analogy because that was horrible way of putting things. I hope your 12 because then I would understand.
