Michael Jordan Signed for NBA 2K11

CNBC has been able to confirm that Michael Jordan will be the cover athlete for NBA 2K11. The possibility that he would be on the cover was first reported as a rumor from ESPN last week. In addressing the news 2K Sports did not go into detail on how Jordan would be used in the game but instead said there would be “some really good surprises”.

“It’s an honor to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11,” Jordan said, in a statement. “I have no doubt that NBA 2K11 will be a big hit with gamers and basketball fans alike. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the court, virtually.”

In the report from ESPN it was stated that 2K had hoped to include Jordan as a playable character in the game and that statement from him basically confirms that much. Whether or not they will be able to sign other players from his time or legendary players to go along with him remains an uncertainty though it would appear likely to happen to some extent.

I haven't purchased a single basketball game since MJ retired, but I'll buy this one just because! How ridiculous was it that he is the greatest player & couldn't be in NBA live games back in the day?? Had a player that was created in his likeness playing on the bulls. 2K will get my money for this alone!

Just out of curiosity…when everyone begs for competition for the sports that dont have it, why would anyone want Live/Elite dead? Do you think 2K would have sprung for Jordan if there was no competition? Maybe not.

Love MJ but his face on the cover does not make this game any more appealing than it already was. I'll take true physics-based game play over a new guy on the cover any day.

All i have to say is now we can virtually settle the fact that jordan would dominate lebron and has already dominated kobe during his time. MJ is the best PERIOD! I just hope that NBA 2K11 will include the FIBA World Championships so that way we can match up the ORIGINAL DREAM TEAM VS the KOBE,LEBRON,WADE,CARMELO,DWIGHT HOWARD…….REDEEM TEAM. I think adding this as a game mode would be amazing! Take away Blacktop and add FIBA. Also include more shoes as well as incorporating the pre-draft combine into the game itself where its not just for MYPLAYER mode. Last thing then i'm out……during the association mode can we get a different cast of announcers? The TNT announcing crew…..ABC announcing crew……..As well as the ESPN announcing crew. Just to add more realism to the season.

I think this is going to be the best basketball game ever. U don't put the greatest basketball player of all time on the cover and not produce a top notch basketball game. Then there is the return of Mike Wang back with 2k. Then u have all the 2010 free agents that can change the future of the league for some time. Very exciting year for basketball fans no doubt.

EXACTLY… fanboys are ignorant! Competion is essential to innovation and improvement. If you want 2K to get better from year to year, you better be hoping that NBA Elite is absolutely awesome! Otherwise the Elite/Live franchise will die, and 2K will become stale as well. Think about it, DUH!
