With the demo for NBA 2K11 arriving tomorrow Fred and I discuss how NBA 2K11 is shaping up in regards to features and improvements, what promises still need to be delivered on, and what we are looking forward to most out of the game. This represents more of a preview or lead-in to the demo, with the plan to do a separate podcast with reaction to the demo once having spent enough time with it. Had to jack my friend’s 360 (he’ll be at work) for tomorrow because I don’t want to wait til late in the afternoon for the PS3 one to drop.

Staying on this padrecast, I liked it in general. They haven’t talked about the online stuff because they don’t like releasing info before their insights. They have 3 left: Presentation (Wednesday), Association Mode, and Online. All of their insights so far have dropped a bomb with each one, so I expect to see something worthwhile with all 3.

Do people just not make friends around them anymore? Lol. I understand the online leagues, but to me, nothing makes sporting games more fun than getting a group of friends together, put down some beers, and go at each other on the game. With this, your atmosphere is your friends Ooooing after a big play and everyone talking shit.

I think what you said to end it Padre was the best. It’s on the default difficulty, not the sim-style difficulty that they have. So, you aren’t going to get as tough defense because this is more for the casual gamers. And I love how people just disect these things. IT’S A DEMO!!! Demo is short for demonstration, so they are demonstrating the game, not giving you the full thing. Either way, I’m really excited for this demo (I haven’t been in years past) and it’s going to be interesting how it plays out….and if Elite EVER releases a demo

Good job on this. Fred made some good points, especially about the online. They need to deliver on this. I agree to about using Jordan on various other teams. I don’t have much of a desire for that and don’t see the appeal.

  That’s kind of funny. I thought that using a Rookie Jordan on any theam was about the only cool usage of Jordan. Jordan Moments is a huge bore. Anybody who actually witnessed those Jordan Moments of real will know that you can’t recapture it in a video game. It will be every bit as boring as Madden Moments.
  
  Now 2k is on the right track by adding in the actual teams that Jordan faced in those moments and they should have stuck to that track. Instead of Jordan Moments or in addition to Jordan Moments 2k should have tried to secure the rights to some of the best historic teams in the league and create a tournament with these teams. You can have the best of Larry Birds Celtics and the best of Magics Lakers etc. Having fully intact and represented historic teams would have really been a great addition to the franchise and very meaningful.

    I think the way that he changes appearance as he gets older may be a nice feature of the Jordan Legend part. The moments will be fine as long as you realize you can’t truly capture Jordan, as well as any NBA player, in a video game.
    
    I think that brings the ability for DLC to add on additional historic teams. I think the allure of this all for me is to play with all the other legends, and that’s why I would love some DLC. I personally can’t wait to play with Shawn Kemp, as well as others. Hoping for some early 90s Suns, mid 90s Rockets, and that 94-95 Magic team with a young Shaq and Penny

      To overstate the obvious these aren’t real players we are talking about here so it doesn’t matter what way you use Jordan it aint Jordan and It aint real players. Its all about the illusion of reality and everybody always compares sports heroes of today vs those of yesteryear.
      
      Tell me you never discussed who would win in a fight between Ali and Tyson (both in their primes). FNR4 made that a virtual reality. So the fact you can infuse a rookie Jordan into the league to square off against Kobe or Lebron, or D Wade is kind of cool.
      
      Jordan Moments is a complete waste of time because the game can’t capture the emotion of the moment. The moment was real and therefore everyone who witnessed the moments will realize that the game in no way captures it.
      
      Having Jordan on todays squads is fantasy and so there are no preconceived notions. You make your own moments and its just fun. Why do you think 2k tied the unlockable Rookie Jordan to the Jordan Moments? They know its the only way to ensure people play them because they know its boring too. Also at some point they are going to charge you for more Jordan Moments so they want to make sure you played the first 10.

        You make good points, Daley. The thing to remember is this is a peripheral of the game, not the core of the game. At the end of the day my time will be most focused on what the NBA is now. I’ll mess with the Jordan moments, but it won’t be the bulk of my time by no means.

Hell, I never watch NHL and the only time I watch soccer is the World Cup, but I buy both titles yearly because they are great games.

NBA 2k11 is about to crush Elite in sales. EA is so confused they want you to ‘feel’ the controls, but they want it to ‘look’ like a ESPN broadcast. I cant wait til 1st month sales are in, then when Elite gets demolished, I hope they cancel Elite just like they did to NCAA Basketball 10. They didnt even put out a patch for that game to fix all the freezing, and non completion of games due to freezing.
They said “fuck anyone who bought our NCAA game, we got your money suckers, thanks. Also we dont care to give you our loyal fanbase of suckers a patch no matter how many letters you right us.”

Elite will sell less than Live 07, hahaha thats gotta suck. I will support 2k11, with hopes of helping them kill off Elite 11. Going to go pay off 2 reserve copies, see you when I return.
