2K Sports has released overall player ratings for the starting lineups of each team in NBA 2K11 via Operation Sports. Dwyane Wade, Lebron James, and Kobe Bryant are tied as the highest rated players with a 97 rating. Chris Paul comes in at 95, Carmelo Anthony gets a 93, and Deron Williams follows with a 92. Kevin Durant pulls in a 91 which then seems noticeably low and begs the question of whether they docked him cause he’s the cover athlete for Elite. John Wall is as expected the highest rookie with an 81 rating which is five points higher than Evan Turner and surprisingly tied with Russell Westbrook. Continue on for the full listing of ratings and leave your thoughts in the comments!

I’m buying 2K this year for the first time ever. I’ve been an ea guy from the very beginning but the ea brand never mattered it’s always been who has the better gameplay I just never knew nba 2k was good. Clearly, this year , 2K is much better so i’ll buy it – the elite demo is pathetic. All you guys fighting over which game is better are acting crazy, seriously, I don’t get the loyalty to 2k or EA why can’t people just admit to themselves which game is better? I’ve only known EA from the begining and have been disappointed for at least 5 or 6 years and now i tried 2k for the first time and it seems like a better game , not the greatest game of all time like people make it out to be, but clearly better than elite or live. After playing the demo or even looking at the demo I just can’t logically understand how somebody would blow 60 bucks on that piece of crap. I’m not being a dick I still play madden which has sucked for 3 years, nhl and fifa are amazing but the nba series is as bad as madden has, unfortunately, become and it’s not worth a dime to me.

I agree with you here, but as far as people considering it the greatest BBall game of all time just remember that most of these guys have been playing the 2K series for quite some time now. If you’re just now switching over from Live it will be difficult to really appreciate 2K until you really take the time to learn the game.I think, once you really get into the game and play maybe 20 or so games in Association mode you will come to understand what these guys are talking about. With 2K it’s all the little things that matter. And all those things ultimately add up to a really authentic product.

      • Buck_Foston_

More authentic…blah. You guys keep chirping authentic and all you do online is force shots in the paint. Which happens to be 2k’s #1 flaw paint abuse. Unless that has been fixed it’s all for not.

        • Nphillyk

It is very authentic. As the player ratings would indicate, this is not Madden where a below average player with excellent real life speed gets slapped with an 86 SPD on the game. Players actually play true to the real life counterparts. You have to use players to their strengths in the game or else suffer the consequences. No way you’re beating a 2K vet with nonsense one on one with players who can’t do that in real life. I will admit to a certain extent as far as the paint abuse, but again experienced players will know how to contain those types of players. I would know. My boy tried to abuse me with Lebron, (I had ATL) and I thoroughly shut him down because all he did was try to drive to the basket. Of course if you give him a one on one matchup against an average defender he will burn him. The key here is strategy and mixing up how you defend the superstars. Experienced 2K players would know this. I never get beat by paint cheese.

  • Nphillyk

First, let me say that in general I like the 2K ratings system. As players, we have to remember that in 2K is not necessarily what a player’s overall rating is, but rather what his different skills are in the game. We all know that 2K prides itself in being an “authentic” product, and these ratings are no different. Why is S. Nash rating an 85 you ask??? Well, because the guy can’t play a lick of defense. That’s why. Why is Rondo “only” an 87??? Because the man can’t hit a 3 (or mid range 2) to save his life. lol So, overall I like the ratings system. The ratings in general are a bit low because there are only but a few game changing superstars in the NBA (i.e Kobe, Lebron, Wade, KD, CP3). With that said, there are just a few gripes I have with the ratings.
    1) Most overrated award goes to: Andre Igoudala. No way he is an 85, well rounded or not. Honorable Mention: Tim Duncan (90), John Wall (81)
    2) Most underrated award goes to: Tony Parker. The only thing his game really lacks is a consistent 3 point shot. Other than that, he should be at least an 83.
    3) Could use a little love: KD should be on par with Melo (93). I can understand him not being a 95 (which is correct), but he and Melo both pretty much do the same thing. With Melo being a better post player and KD being a better perimeter shooter. Honorable Mention: Dirk (83), Aaron Brooks (80), Devin Harris (78), Mo Williams (76), KG (80)

    • Buck_Foston_

Iggo an 85 and he’s overrated? Nah kid, solid rating.

      • Nphillyk

As my name would imply, I am from Philadelphia and I can honestly say that Iggy does not deserve any where near an 85 rating. The man is a good role player, that’s it. And while is indeed a solid all around player. Currently, he is rated the same as Steve Nash (85) and above Dirk Nowitzki (83), that is crazy man. The man struggles to create his own shot (average off the dribble), his handle is suspect to say the least, and his perimeter jumper is extremely streaky. No way Iggy deserves an 85. By far the biggest ratings mistake 2K has made this year. Iggy should be an 81-82.

        • JoeFlaccoIsTheMan

Igoudala is a good player on a terrible team, and his somewhat inflated numbers are because of that. Compared to other players in this game who have proved their ability (Dirk, 83), an 85 for andre is bit ridiculous

  • Anonymous

The fact that Kevin Durant who averaged over 30 points per game is only a 91 is fishy to me. He is the youngest ever scoring champ in the league. Say what you will for his defense, I think at 21, he will only improve upon that, but he is a top five player, if not top three in the NBA at the start of the 2010-11 season.

Darko at a 57 is great.

    • Buck_Foston_

Again KD is an incredible scorer because of his size and range, much like Dirk in that way, but 91 is generous. He wasn’t a well rounded player last year, he was just a premier scorer. This year I’m sure his overall game is going to spike after a gtreat WC run, but 91 is fine.

  • Jay_Sunn

And yes KD should be a 95!

  • Hmrnhtr

i dont really follow the nba anymore….but how in the hell is tony parker a 78?

    • nolimitz

yea they’re probably perceiving him as coming off an injury and not really getting that starting job back immediately after he got back from injury last year… nevertheless tony at a 78 is kinda ridiculous considering his ball handling speed and finishing shots are on par with the best of them… although defense can leave a lot to be desired but that’s more of him being a smaller guard than anything else

For the most these rating are the same as the last roster update for 2k10, they just gave out a 1-3 pt increase or decrease. Durant was a 88 on the last update & jumped to a 91 for 2k10. Devin Harris was a 79 & dropped a point. I dunno if they’re using a new scale or whatever but i guess the real update is to the gameplay.

how the hell is john wall rated higher then BJ? wow….he hasnt played a game yet! cmon BJ was the real ROY and led his team to the playoffs and played GREAT in the playoffs cmon on with this. Looks bias against the guys who were apart of the EA commercials

  • Buck_Foston

Aldridge should be at least an 80

  • Hanna445

The Bucks are seriously underrated, and every year, I honestly don’t see why Ray Allen is not at least an 80, come on now. I also got a problem with injury ridden Greg Oden being rated higher than Joakim Noah and Kendrick Perkins. Also interestingly enough, 2K has Joel Anthony starting at center for the Heat, over Illgauskus.

  • Pjrasdaniel

Kevin Durant was the leading scorer in the league last year, averaging 30 pts a game, a 91 rating is bias, he should be at least a 95. They also tried Dirk pretty hard, a he should be higher than a 83.

  • Fudge

Dirk only a 83..the guy put up 25 ppg last year. At least an 87 as what they gave Bosh.

  • fudge

I also think if 2k gonna be tough with the rating then Tim Duncun should not be rated so high with a 90. I’d give him 88.

  • Jacky

wtf lina kleiza 55? you gotta be kiddin me. should at least be 70. this list is wack

Dirk is 83 and Duncan is 90 is there something wrong there or is it just me ?

  • http://twitter.com/Tommy_Vercetti_ Akbar Shabaz Jenkins

yoooooooo!!! i was just playing the demo and Phil Jackson straight up walked on the court trying to argue a foul cal!!!!!! DOPE!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • Jmancaldwell

Oh cmon man Kevin Love is better than john wall you have to put him in the rating of 80’s at least like an 84 he is awesome and Dwight Howard really he is in the 90’s at least a 91 he is the best center in the NBA

  • Breyzh

I’m surprised that no-one is seeing that: Duncan is a 90?
    A 90?

You’ve got to be effin sh***ing me!
I mean: I know the ol’ Big Fundamental got a wide variety of skills, but he can’t be ranked higher than Howard or Gasol! And 10 higher than Garnett! He just doesn’t have that kind of impact in games these days…

Btw, isn’t that crazy that the first guy ever to lead the NBA 2 years in a row in both rebounds and blocked shots (while still being a very good offensive player, aka not Ben Wallace) is a “lowly” 88? I mean: I know I’m oviously the only person who cares that much about inside D (since no-one ever mentions Dwight in MVP/best players talk), but that is game-changing!

I think as usual the games kinda overevaluates over-average in about everything over all-time-great-like in a few categories.
I mean: Howard is the best inside defender right now, not even close. You’d have to go to Ben Wallace or Mutombo from a few years ago to be close to match the impact he has on the defensive end… And then maybe all the way back to Russel! And again he’s also a very good offensive player despite his flaws.
Then Duncan comes in and is ranked higher than this guy? It makes no sense at this point of his career.

same goes for Nash: one of the best shooters of all time (top 10) AND one of the best passers (top 20, just to be sure)! And the guy is ranked almost the same as Monta Ellis?Barely over Arenas? Lower than Brandon Roy? You’ve got to be effin sh***ing me, to repeat myself! And don’t give me the ol’ “his D is swiss-cheese”, ‘cuz none of the guys listed above are any good on the defensive end either!

They really have to do something to buff up the numbers of speciality players, because this whole thing inflates wings numbers (hey, just like a lot of fans do!)… I mean: Duncan is the best big in the league? At 90? With Iggy being a 85 and Roy a 88?No freakin’ way!

As you guys said, that shouldn’t impact that much in-game, but that’s still annoying…

On the Durant subject, I’m kinda ok with his ranking: as mentionned above, D and passing need some improving. Plus it takes time to climb those kind of rankings, so if he puts up another season like this one (with no progression whatsoever) he’ll be a 94… They just don’t want to rank a guy as top-notch over a single season. It’s only ‘Melo’s ranking (too high) that’s throwing you guys off… Plus I guess Durant has lots of upside in career mode, so he should catch up quickly.

Aaaaah, I just hate all the time I waste on the internet explaining to people how good Dwight Howard is… And it couldn’t be more of a time-waste than on this particular topic, so I’m just gonna go do something better…

How is Brandon Jennings only 75 but stephen curry is 80 and jennings is the better player and aaron brooks is 80 the same as curry and brooks is better too and kobe should be the best player 98 or 99 and durant is better than 91 more like 95 – joe johnson should be in the 90s andrew bogut should be like 85

  • poo article

he’s still rated91…you and pasta are mking it seem like he’s garbage in the game.

91 is fucken awesome. Docked for beng elite’s cover athete…jesus christ man come off it already.

This is going to be one of the all time great sports games and you’ve said nothing positive about the game and just find shit to nit pick on just because the game is made by 2k.

  • Carsonray22

  • Petmasdfaaauch

The celtics ratings are a joke, 83 for piece and 80 for garnett, one win away from the championship, these can can still play

  • Jnewsome24

Rudy Gay an 81?? Same as John Wall lol that just isnt right. Monta Ellis 84 is a good player even tho hurt every year but that’s a little high considering Chauncey Billups is coming in at an 83 and Agent Zero at 83 Played the game all night when i got it at midnight and Carmelo has by far the best offense arsonal of any player. Post game off dribble mid-range three ball, which isnt to much of a suprise but try him out hes really unguardable.
