Madden 11 Roster Update #10 Details

by
Posted October 28th, 2010 at 2:45 pm

The post NFL week seven roster update for Madden 11 is expected to arrive tomorrow. This update features Chris Johnson, who just reclaimed a 99 rating last week, falling back to 98. Vernon Davis and Ray Lewis get solid increases with Davis now just a point away from the coveted 99 overall rating.

Jared Gaither, Adam Jones, and Dallas Clark are amongst a large group of players to hit the IR. Curiously Tony Romo had just a single point deducted and otherwise wasn’t affected in this update. Aaron Smith also was not placed on the IR though he was dropped on the depth chart.

The biggest beneficiaries turn out to be the Raiders who get 12 players increased with no players dropping. Eight players go up for the Panthers and just one down. The team to take the worst hit is the Cowboys who have 12 players drop and just Dez Bryant move up.

Continue on for the full list of changes in the roster update for Madden 11 and leave your thoughts in the comments!

I would have at least thought Mario Manningham would at least gotten a one point increase in speed. It’s still hard to play with the giants against certain secondaries like the Jets, Redskins, Cowboys, and Raiders. Nicks needs a little more speed and alot of route running and Steve Smith route running needs to be at least a 97 and he is faster than what they have him on the game. So Patrick Willis is faster than Nicks and Steve Smith? Now I know they aren’t speedy guys but they aren’t slower than most line-backers. They seem to keep the Giants slow for some reason. They keep Tampa very slow too. It’s a young team they shouldn’t be that slow. Devone Bess is too slow too. He should be at least a 92-93 speed. That guy isn’t slower than a linebacker.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=665658280 Danny Samir

Nah, Bess is NOT that fast. He isnt fast at all top speed wise, but has great acceleration and shiftiness. The game gave him 85 speed, which i think 86-87 would be better, 88 tops, but thats marshalls speed, and he isnt as fast as marshall. He does have 93 acceleration tho, which might be a 94-95 by the update

There are too many 99 overall players too. They only players that truly deserve a perfect ratings are perfect players and since none are perfect. They only 2 I see is Peyton and Palomalu; if it’s truly based on how they are playing this year, but that’s just my humble-opinion. Reed will eveutally get it back.

    • Nyj21

Yes I agree only palumalu manning and reed should be 99 overall. No one Impacts the game like them. An I honestly believe ray Lewis is still the best MLB in the game. He comes through in the clutch and makes big game changing plays that Patrick Willis simply dont make. I’m not saying ray lew should be 99. I just don’t think Patrick deserves it. More like 97.

      • Nphillyk

You’re trippin man, Patrick Willis is a beast and has ZERO flaws in his game. He’s an excellent tackler (most tackles over the last 3 years), is excellent in coverage (most deflections by a MLB last season), is blazing fast (4.37 40 time), has good hands for a LB (3 picks last year, 1 to the house). As far as you saying he doesn’t make the game changing plays of Ray Lewis I would ask how much game tape have you watched on him the last couple of years??? He gets to the QB despite being a MLB in a 3-4 defense (4 sacks last year, 1 this year), he forces fumbles (3 FF last year). You’re off base with this one man, the dude is a beast and the best MLB in the league right now. Hands down. No disrespect to Ray though because he is the G.O.A.T at that position.

        • Nyj21

I’m not gonna bring up much stats right now but Lewis Still gets his sacks(2 this year) in a 3-4 defense along with a pik. How much times has Willis made a play to win the game? I have one question for u. Who would u honestly want on your team right now for a one year superbowl run? Ray Lewis or Patrick Willis? Nuff said.

          • Nphillyk

Answer: Patrick Willis, just ask any OC in the NFL.

          • Maddenplayer101

Lol. I really wish we could. I’m sure even fans that really know and understand the game would mostly pick Lewis. I am by no means saying it would be a landslide but ray Lewis will definitely win that discussion. Willis hasn’t led a top 5 D yet and he won’t unless he becomes true leader and can motivate even average players of performing great. Ray Lewis has a superbowl ring and superbowl MVP along with many other accolades. A ray Lewis led defense has never been ranked lower than 6th and that was only one year. It’s not even close especially in his prime. If we are comparing 36 year old ray to young Willis and ray may possibly still be better then u know for sure he was 10 years ago. Think about this dude.

Has Patrick Willis won defensive player of the week yet?

          • http://twitter.com/Mason_drews Mason Drews

Sorry but Ware, Lewis and Beason are the best Linebackers in the NFL period

          • Nphillyk

You obviously don’t watch football. Ware scored ZERO points for my fantasy team this week. ZERO, meaning he didn’t have any tackles or sacks at all. Against the Jags no less. Moving on…Beason though??? You’re kidding right? Because Beason is like P. Willis Jr. not Sr. Now Ray, I will give you because he is still a beast. However, he is not the all around player that he once was and he often struggles in wide open space and on passing downs.

        • Gruden

Ray Lewis still the best MLB in the game.

        • Reign

PWilly hasnt done shit this year. Where as Ray has been pulling out clutch plays to win games.

    • Nphillyk

Wrong: Patrick Willis should be a 99 too. See my reason below.

      • Swift

Okay I forgot about Willis. He is a man; too bad he’s on an under-achieving team this year.

  • Jdowdy10

Let me get this straight…the Titans drop six players and raise three (two that matter) after a win over the third straight team from the NFC East and still aren’t rated better than the Cowboys, Giants, or Eagles?

If you read this Donny, you my friend (sarcasm), are a fucking idiot. I wouldn’t have spelled it out for you, but it seems I have to.

Also, Oakland had a metric shit ton of players upgrade when they defeated Denver. The Titans lost to Denver. The Titans also beat Oakland (with the Titans getting no increases). WAKE THE FUCK UP DUDE!!!!

I know you have a hard job, but for Christs sakes the information is available to everyone (stats). I watch every game and you shit on the Titans every game regardless of the stats, which don’t lie.

    • Jdowdy10

Also, I would like to add that it is BS that players (Romo) aren’t removed from the depth chart but if it is a no-name he is gone in the first week of his injury.

Where is the reason in these updates? Obviously not trying to mimic the real NFL by leaving in high profile players but at the same time NOT trying to show which teams are playing better at this very time.

Decide what you want to do Donny because you are pissing off your audience…the one you had before you even took over ratings for this franchise.

  • Nphillyk

Terrell Owens should be in the 90s. The folks over at EA need to just give up on trying to get this right because they almost never do. smh Larry Fitzgerald decrease for being on a poor team? No increase for T.O after 3 straight weeks of great performances (26 rec 412 yds 3 TDs), and after the Madden team wanted to decrease him every week last year because he happened to play for the Bills? Then a few weeks ago Justin Smith 49ers DE gets a decrease after a 6 tackle, 2 sack performance??? It has become quite clear to me that no one over there even watches football. Those guys are a joke and are the reason I traded in my copy for NBA 2K11. A REAL SPORTS GAME!!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gabe-Galasso/100000635052473 Gabe Galasso

why are you still commenting if you traded your shit in. this doesn’t concern you anymore

      • Nphillyk

It’s called the 1st amendment. lol smh @ you. And it’s still my right considering I shelled out $60 for this crap they call a football game. Maybe if enough people complain they’ll be forced to change how they do things.

    • Swift

He’s no longer a Cowboys so he can’t reap anymore the benefits of favortism. Remember when Roy Williams was rated like the 3 or 4th best SS and he was just a big hitter; couldn’t play the run or pass but when he left the Cowboys “Who is he”? “Has anyone had a Roy Williams sighting lately? That’s how it is. EA sports can’t help it. It’s in their blood to do so. Asking Ea to stop churning the Cowboys, Pats, Raiders, and Chargers butter is like telling a wine-head to stop drinking “Sir slowly put down the bottle and walk away” “I can’t do it” “I just can’t”

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=727953133 Brian Simpson

Once again, I have to remind people, that the Roster Update is not to reward/punish players for good/bad performances. The point is to use there performances as a gauge to make sure that the game is an accurate reflection of the player’s CAPABILITIES. For example. Drew Brees had a bad game, but he is capable of performing at a much higher level. If he had 3 or 4 bad games in a row, this would signal that he had lost a step, then we could justify dropping him significantly. On the other hand, Jay Cutler who played just as badly as Brees, has proven that he is not capable of consistently playing on a high level which is why his drop was more significant. Please let me know if you need this clarified further….otherwise, STOP WHINING

    • Nyj21

So why was the ravens secondary dropped so much after playing stellar the whole season and last season after just one bad game?

  • Maddenplayer101

The giants are fine where they with the exception of bradshaw. There are 6 teams in the AFC better than they are. The steelers jets pats ravens titans and colts. They got blown out by the colts and titans. Barely beat a romo less weak cowboy team. An don’t have convincing or quality wins. They probably shouldnt even go up that much this week because like I said barely beat Dallas without romo.

    • Nt21nt

Beating The bears when they were 2-1 wasnt quality? 12 sacks? beating Housten isnt quality? there 4-2. Colts blew them out okay ill take that but there D was still molding. they LOST THE GAME FOR THEMSELVES against Tenn watch the game it was alot closer then a blow out. Dallas has a top 5 Offense and HAD a top 5 Defense until we shredded them they still suck. im just saying the Giants are good we could beat any of those teams you listed above now especially a mossless pats, a ravens team that was handed a bs fumble last week that led to a win against BUF(not a quality win), a Pit team that clearly fumbled was also given a win against miami(not a quality win), colts have alot of injuries now, and no doubt we could beat the jets just cuz i hate the jets.

      • Maddenplayer101

Lol. U sound so stupid. The bears are garbage and it was not a quality win. The lions are garbage it wasn’t a quality win which they barely won. The cowboys are garbage and without romo is definitely not a quality win which they barely beat. The pats have quality wins. Just because buffalo almost beat Baltimore means nothing because the week before the almost won against the pats so it means nothing. They beat jets and Pittsburgh on the road probably the 2 most quality wins a team has. The texans are border but u know what I will give that to u. I’m not gonna even talk about the jets and Pitt. They speak for themselves. Open your eyes dude. They really aren’t that good.

      • Maddenplayer101

They beat jets and Pittsburgh on the road probably the 2 most quality wins a team has. The texans are border but u know what I will give that to u. I’m not gonna even talk about the jets and Pitt. They speak for themselves. Open your eyes dude. They really aren’t that good.

      • blitz all day

The giants would get smacked by the jets that wouldnt even be a game and if you wanted to see a sample of what would happen watch the first half of their preseason game when the starters were in

  • DonVCorleone (psn)

if ahmad bradshaw is the leading rusher AND the giants offense is ranked top 5, then why hasnt the oline been improved to reflect that?

and why when dallas gets crushed do they barely drop?
god forbid the giants lost there would be 30+ people getting decreases.

im about done with madden anyway, its getting stale again.

remember the days of nfl 2k – nfl 2k5, we would play the ‘old game’ until the day the new one came out.

im going back to apf 2k8 very soon and never looking back

    • peek a boo

quit crying an leave then fagget

      • DonVCorleone (psn)

arent you the cheeser from madden 06 on 360?

you are the most retarded seahawks fan I’ve seen. every other seahawks fan i’ve met at least knows what they’re talking about. mcfaddens running better than your whole team and that’s undeniable. real shit though do some research then come back to us.

      • Realist

lol look at you gay ass Raider fans..you guys are coming out of the woodwork after 1 blow out game…lets not forget our places shal we lol..eat shit and die

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gabe-Galasso/100000635052473 Gabe Galasso

Please dude. I’m on here every week talking about the raiders win or lose. you’re just mad because you probably got your ass beat online by someone using the raiders. get a life

        • jmk

so if i have a jamarcus russell jersey because i even was hopin he could be a savior..that means im all of a sudden coming out of the woodwork? sure realist…if you live in the real world you would know the raiders do know there places…and they are getting back there!

  • Nt21nt

No rise to Ahmad Bradshaw? you ppl on crack? he’s #1 in the NFL rushing better then Peterson and Johnson(for now) if T Jones and J Charles get increases why doesn’t Bradshaw? typical EA bull. Also Big Ben is back what 2 games and he already a 91? Eli cant hit 90 tho? dont insult me EA this is such BS and you kno it Eli is playin good bump him up and decrease Manningham Nicks and Smith catching a lil each ANYONE WHO WATCHES FOOTBALL knos if these 3 guys didnt tip a ball up 1 or 2 times a game ELI WOULD NO DOUBT BE A TOP 3 QB. anyone who disagrees is either an eli hater or not a real football fan

    • Nphillyk

I agree 100% and I’m not even a Giants fan. Eli is severely underrated, not just in Madden but in almost all facets. He is definitely top 10 in the league right now.

    • Realist

eli sucks..and hes a mouth breather..also he throws the balls so damn high all his wrs can do is tip it cos its so off target…lets not act like eli throws it at their chests and they throw it up…come on dude…ppl only see what they want

      • Nphillyk

When you play WR the #1 rule is: “If it hits your hands you are supposd to catch it” Can’t blame Eli for everything. smh

  • Youngmillymac

why is Larry fitz getting lowered so much? He doesnt even have a QB to get him the rock. Its not like its out there dropping passes or anything

    • Reign

Before Shaub, Andre Johnson was still beasting.

  • Durio9360

Dont see what the argument is about. The texans are winning the super bowl this year. No better receiver in the league than “The Natural” Andre Johnson.

  • nick

wow really the browns killed saints and got no roster update at all lollololo not even decreases i still cant figure out why jake delhomme is a 74 he’s a bum he needs to be the lowest ranked qb in game goes to show though how hard madden is on saints jock they are so overrated i mean browns arent even my team but still that’s ridiculous

    • Reign

Browns suck. Even a blind dog will find a bone once in a while.

  • bob

WOW great, how are we gonna stop the cheesers who use the raiders now

  • seahawkfan1

i can see if they bumped mcfadden a little but they made him an 87 so hes just as good as Ronnie brown and Matt forte and 3 points away from turner i don’t see why is he in that category has he done anything those backs did i don’t think so Chris Clemons is not a 87 OVR should be 85-84 i guess they gotta lower mcfadden when they play the hawks if any1 needs to go up on the raiders team its Bruce bradkosike miss spelled his name

    • jmk

      what happened???

  • http://www.facebook.com/matthewelliott Matthew Elliott

Ed Reed came back and got 2 picks and a FF and only gets a 1 point increase? Granted I haven’t checked the actual stats to see what went up but come on, just give him the 99 back already. And Lewis deserves to be atleast a 98 by now, he’s had 3 GAME ENDING CLUTCH plays already this season, or atleast give him 99 awareness and Play Recognition. Chris Chester should be seeing some love too, he’s been great filling in at RG. Fabian Washington needs to be like a 60 though after that performance lol

  • Shoe

Fucking retarded. Why have they not added spots for IR players yet?! Their solution to showing that a player is on IR is to remove them from the team? What about the people that want to play franchise with some updated rosters?
