In this latest video Padrecast the Fight Night Champion demo is the focus of discussion. Fred and I go over our thoughts on various aspects of the demo including gameplay, features, online performance, and its impact on our anticipation levels. If you missed it make sure to check out my full impressions of the demo as well!

Audio cut off at 11:28 – fail.

    LOL @ 10:28 – game fail.

That was the end of the audio. I just let the video finish out so people could see the punch stats.

the reason you might not like it is because despite saying that you’re fighting realistically, you aren’t jabbing enough. 30% of your punches should be jabs. all most all combos should start with jabs. i just see a lot of hooks

That’s a fair assessment, but it isn’t because I’m not trying to jab. The right stick picks up the wrong punches pretty often. Plus with Cotto I was trying to get in close and work the body more.

the only time i throw hooks that aren’t coming off a jab or a straight are if i’m going to the body. i know it can be tough but it’s so much about rhytme. if i want to throw an uppercut i wont do it unless i have 3 punches in front of it

if they can somehow make it realistic in the sense where you throw punches non-stop, you get tired. that’s how it should be. that way, you have to manage your punches per round and throughout the fight. it would make it more strategic and enjoyable…..

it’s hard to judge that on three rounds. i’d imagine guys will gas out in 10-12 round fights if they try throwing too many punches. any boxer can throw non stop for 3 rounds

True. I think the worry is that there’s little penalty even within individual rounds though. With how many three round bouts ended in knockouts how long are the extended bouts going to last?

  • PASTASUCKS

I love the Demo. Best Fight Night so far. The knockouts and the fighting is realistic. Stamina is a big issue again. You can just punch punch punch punch

    • PASTASUCKS

*you can’t just punch punch punch punch*

The stick sucks…the new punch system just doesn’t have the accuracy. I’ve tried with several people to just stand there and both try to consistently throw each type of punch and you get horrible results all the time. you think you’re throwing a jab and you get a hook…standing at distance and trying to fight from away you need to be able to throw jabs..and crosses or straights without error due to controls. The other glaring issue is the body shots…the manual says…hold left trigger when throwing punches…but many times…i have the trigger held all the way and I still get punches to the head.

So far…I don’t like the game at all…and I will wait until they release and then try it before buying it…otherwise I’ll be sticking with FNR4
