Despite previous comments to the contrary EA Sports now plans to continue their relationship with Tiger Woods at least for the immediate future which should mean a Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13. It was just late last year that Electronic Arts Chief Executive John Riccitiello basically stated that the company would move on if Woods’ performance and stature did not improve.

That of course hasn’t happened. Woods has dropped all the way to being ranked 15th in the world and injuries have cost him chances to even appear in tournaments. He withdrew after just nine holes of the TPC and will not compete in the U.S. Open. Still the thinking is that the Tiger Woods name has become more than just an endorsement and is a brand in the mold of what the name Madden means to the company’s NFL series. People play “Tiger Woods” not “PGA Tour”.

Sales of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters bounced back strong after an absolutely catastrophic year with Tiger 11 that saw sales drop 68% total and a stunning 86% on the Wii where the series had been selling the most. Tiger 12 was the fifth highest selling game in April having received a boost from good word of mouth and aligning with the playing of The Masters.
