The Facebook page (appreciate it if you’d “like” it while there or in the sidebar!) now contains all 225 images captured while at E3 displaying the new ‘Player Traits’ in Madden NFL 12 and are sorted by conference and then division and team.

Keep in mind these are just preliminary and may change by the time Madden 12 ships. In particular the number of “clutch” players will likely drop especially from any rookies that have it now. The “confidence” rating starts at three stars for all players and then will be adjusted through roster updates or performance while in franchise mode. Check out the NFC pictures here and the AFC pictures here. Continue on for the full list of players snagged while at E3.

Yep, I sure do love the Raiders, Giants, and Packers!!!!

Loved Walter at Oregon (I’m from Eugene) he’s easily my favorite Duck of all time!

Thanks, pasta. I appreciate all of the Vikings players you got.

Why weren’t there any early rookie ratings this year. Does this mean that they will rate some players closer to where they were picked.

Ex. Ponder will be rated as a 1st round QB, rather than rating him like a 2nd rounder.

They’re saving ratings for some big reveal/s they have planned later.

As years go on will their player traits change? Let’s say for example I destroy with cam newton and win 3 super bowls in 3-5 years would he then become clutch?

    • Showstoppa818

yes that’s the way it works.

  • Cudder

Hey Pasta, any idea as to why most of the players have their same picture from last years game?

    • PeteRose

They just use the players current photo from the NFL Players Association website. If that picture changes then they change it in Madden. For the rookies they use their Combine picture.

  • Giantsfan56

I only looked at the traits for my team the Giants and they are completley off. Ahmad Bradshaw not having a high motor? Are you serious that’s his whole thing, he plays every down like it’s his last. Eli is oblivious? You should see how often he doges a defender or throws the ball out of bounds when he feels pressure. He also starting rushing a little bit at the end of the year. Also Tucks traits are horrible, I can’t belive it says no to spin move. If Donny Moore is doing these traits along with the ratings I’m gonna have to go on a forum and find someone who’s made better traits and ratings cause these are terrible so far.

    • PeteRose

I agree. The traits arent 100% accurate.

They gave Ray Edwards swim move when he doesnt really utilize that as much as the spin move and bull rush. And to be honest, Adrian Peterson has dropped a couple open passes (but they didnt give him that trait).

      • MtHammer

Yeah, several of the Chiefs’ traits are a bit off (e.g. why does Dorsey, one of our best and most consistent defenders only have 1 star consistency?), but Matt Cassel’s are way off.   For example, they gave him average pocket awareness when, frankly, he’s still probably below average.  What’s more, he apparently doesn’t throw the ball away even though his willingness to do just that is one of the biggest reasons he only had 7 interceptions last year.

I’ll admit I’d hate to have to be the one to figure out the appropriate traits for ever NFL player, but that still doesn’t change that a bunch of these are almost shockingly counter to reality.

          Wow guys, already?

    • FightingNYGIrish

I honestly stopped wanted to stop looking at the traits when I saw Bradshaw didn’t have a high motor. You’re 100% correct, that’s what AB is known for – never stopping and keeping his legs moving until he’s down. He does drop open passes too.

IDK how Tuck is only 2* consistency, Boss drops a lot of open passes. IDK their definition of clutch but Steve Smith is always top 3 in 3rd down catches for 1st downs. Eli is oblivious, but he was sacked the fewest amount of times in the league. Don’t get it.

  • Kingblue18

Pasta hates the Bears. Like always.

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Ha, honestly I don’t care. Some teams ended up with less and I didn’t realize it until today.

When we started flipping through we didn’t know how much time we would have to do it so we grabbed some big name players and rookies. Then we sorted team by team thinking of players to take. It just so happens it wasn’t completely balanced.

Considering my original goal was to get like 10-20 players TOTAL, I’m pretty happy with the result!

      • raven202752

overall good job pasta but u just said u grabbed big name players and rookies yet heyward- bay found his way in there

  • MLD Woody

shit…. Braylon is gonna get the “Drops Open Passes” trait

  • Kdarnell

As far as the falcons go, they all look good except one. Matt Ryan has “rarely” for run if the ball but he takes off and runs about 4-5 times a game…flacco does the same bit got the “sometimes” just like Aaron Rodgers.

  • http://twitter.com/WWOFTBBNR Phil

I think the traits are finally getting closer to giving the players an identity. It’s one thing to have high ratings, it’s another thing to back them up with tangible traits.

    Can You Edit Traits?

What does High Motor stand for?

  • http://www.facebook.com/cush2push Geoff Wightman

i dont know why they are putting in traits especially ones that attribute to INTs

    nnamdi asomugha
    Shut down corner yes
    Ball hawk yes
    run stopper yes
    DROPS OPEN PASSES YES

come on EA youre adding on to the list of stuff that doesnt matter
i also can do this  i have a giraffe in my backyard

  • Skylerblank97

How are there clutch rookies? Also how is Cam not clutch? He’s led us back so many times.

  • Dymez

You know what would be a nice addition to ‘player traits’?  Cold weather performances.  Not every player in the league can perform well in cold weather.

  • http://twitter.com/Mason_drews Mason Drews

How do Dez Bryant/Miles Austin not “Fight for extra yards”? Miles makes a living after the catch, Dez is one of few in the league that literally throws DB’s over his shoulder?. . .  Somethings gotta be wrong here. . . also why does Miles not drop open passes? He dropped plenty last season?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jon-Henson/513657938 Jon Henson

Are the traits suppose to be good or bad? I don’t get how teams that aren’t that good have more players with traits than teams that are good? I’m a Philly fan and i don’t see how only 5 guys have traits for them, but Oakland has 11. And there are guys who haven’t even been proven in the NFL or have played in the NFL and didn’t play for shit. So if someone can tell me what the traits mean it would be very much appreciated.

  • Spangy88

Hey Pasta can you give me some type of reasoning as to why Desean Jackson is not clutch then players like Hakeen Nicks are? Desean has proven that he can win games with the ball in his hands at all times and he has done so consistantly since his rookie year. I hope you reply, thanks
