Russell Crowe May Play Jor-EL in Superman: Man of Steel

According to Variety Russell Crowe is in talks to take on the role of Jor-El in the Superman reboot Man of Steel. Jor-El is father to Kal-El (Superman) and a scientist on the planet Krypton who foresees the planet’s fate and saves his son by sending him to Earth.
Crowe would join Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Kevin Costner (Johnathan ‘Pa’ Kent), and Diane Lane (Martha ‘Ma’ Kent) as the primary cast members announced so far. The Zack Snyder directed film is heading towards release in December 2012.
