NFL Blitz Rosters: NFC North and East

Posted December 16th, 2011 at 2:15 pm

ESPN has started to reveal the rosters for EA Sports’ reboot of NFL Blitz which is set to release on January 4th. The first two divisions to roll out are the NFC East and NFC North.

Each team gets seven players on both offense and defense along with a kicker and punter. Unfortunately this means some worthy players have to be left out and there are some questionable ones included – presumably because they were locked in before developments changed their individual stature on their respective teams. I would’ve rather seen the special teams spots used for two additional regular players that could be available to sub in – just have one of the others kick and punt – this is Blitz after all.

Still no word on whether there will be a post-release roster update as even just having one for adjustments as the league enters the post-season would be valuable. The last digitally-distributed football game from EA, Madden NFL Arcade, had multiple roster updates but that released in the middle of the season rather than January.

  • wow no dez bryant for the cowboys.

    • Abramovich

Is this game gonna be a 15$ arcade game?

    • That was definitely a name that immediately stood out to me. They chose Witten over him which is justifiable but exactly why I thought they should have at least another player or two to choose from from game-to-game.

    • no DeMarco Murray either.

      • Mason Drews

How about them having David Buehler over Dan Bailey WTF?

  • Stoft619

Wish they would of gave us the extra player as an option for each team having two receivers and one te to choose from instead of a WR and te or two wrs per team.

    • Exactly my thinking as well.

      • Sounds like stupid fun.

Really Pasta? You don’t think EA will be offering up DLC players later?

$1.99 or more per downloadable player?

        Really Pasta?

        • Just going by precedent. They haven’t done that with past arcade games including the most recent (NBA Jam On Fire Edition).

I’m not sure consumers would go for a digital download that then tried to tack on more. Maybe for some games, probably not for arcade style sports though.

          • Sounds like stupid fun.

Consumers were dumb enough to pay EA an extra $25 just to download and play Madden12 only 3 days earlier than its release date, even though they still had to purchase the full game at the regular retail price of $59.99. Consumers are pretty dumb and EA knows how to milk them for extra coin all too well.

The football season is almost over and EA is already marketing another dumbed down Madden football game for dummies. Mark my words. There will be “tacked on” paid DLC for this digital download. Greed is insatiable.

          • Jarod

I for one, did not purchase the Season Ticket. People who purchased it were either hardcore gamers, guys who wanted to be able to try out every EA game before it comes out, or idiots. But I do agree with you that there are dumb people out there and I’m pretty sure there are going to be add-ons; either for roster updates or for additional players.

    • Sounds like stupid fun.

You will be able to get all the players you want. And when you wantt to get them, you will pay for them.

There are 3 important facts about this game that I need to point out.

      1) This game is made by EA. The extra players you really want will be added as DLC content, as always.

      2) EA knows that its customers are stupid.

      3) You guys are stupid.

  • Keith.

What a complete waste of the NFL license. Leave it to EA to mine 20 year old arcade games rather than devote development funds to something innovative or fresh with the license. Sad.

    • Sounds like stupid fun.

Leave it to EA to mine 20 year old arcade games rather than devote
development funds to something innovative or fresh with the license.

Leave it to Pastapadre to help them sling this tired ass crap to the EA legion of Madden buying idiots.

  • Perrylarry44

    sports game of year!!!!

  • Spanky

    Spank me

  • Why?

I don’t know who would be stupid enough to buy this game.

  • Anonymous

Dan Bailey has been the Cowboys kicker since training camp, how is David Buehler in this game?

  • alex

lol @ no cruz or pierre-paul for the giants

  • Jarod

These rosters seem really outdated. I mean who in their right minds would put Moise Fokou, who is on the IR, sucks, and is an OLB; in the game instead of Jamar Chaney, who is the best LB on the team and is a MLB. What it seems like EA is doing on offense is giving every team a QB, RB, WR, C, two OTs, and a WR/TE. On defense, it seems like they’re giving every team a LB, DT, and a S; two DEs and two CBs. What they should do is make it a 25-man roster limit so teams can have backups and take TEs out of the game.

  • You think they could at least update the rosters i mean come on. Chris Harris Plays for Detroit now Chicago released him almost 7 weeks ago thats just sad. EA never amazes me anymore just plain sad.

  • Clueminati017

Wow they shitted on Dallas hard on not putting Dez Bryant & Laurent Robinson on there. Especially for NYG on not putting Victor Cruz on there.

    • Don’t forget DeMarco Murray.
