Purchasing DLC Courses for Tiger Woods 13 on PS3 Causing Headaches and Lost Cash

While the 16 courses available as downloadable content for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 can be had in any number of ways on the Xbox 360 they can’t be purchased in the typical fashion over on the PS3. The courses aren’t available on PSN/SEN to buy outright. Instead money has to be spent on buying enough in-game “coins” to obtain the courses.

It’s not about the inconvenience of the matter but rather how the available packs of “coins” don’t equal to the costs of the DLC courses. That means some will have to spend more money than they would have if they were provided the ability to buy the courses directly off the marketplace. The leftover “coins” can of course be saved and used on other items but if the purchase wasn’t intended for that reason many will perceive it as money they flat out lost on the transaction.

One potentially bigger issue is that apparently buying the “coins” does not allow for Season Ticket subscribers to take advantage of the 20% discount on DLC. Over on the 360 that discount can mean up to $13.40 saved if all the courses are bought ($67 retail).

No word from EA Sports on whether this arrangement was by design and ultimately what necessary corrections will be made. Updates will be provided should new info come to light.
