Madden NFL 13 Demo Details

As long anticipated the demo for Madden NFL 13 is set to arrive on Tuesday, August 14. The demo will feature two different match-ups with each being an entire game consisting of five minute quarters with adjustable difficulty levels.

A rematch of the excellent NFC Championship game with the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers is one option while the other features two of the more intriguing teams this season with the Seattle Seahawks at Washington Redskins.

In addition the Game Face feature is available and will transfer over to the retail version while those with Kinect for Xbox 360 will also get to try out the voice commands. It’s an impressively structured demo and one that demonstrates confidence in the product.

EA’s full of false confidence. They put the demo for NCAA out a month early, and look how that turned out for them. Something tells me that most non-biased reviews are going to come in right around OXM’s 7.5 score.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Madden suffers from the same widespread freeze problems that NCAA has — you’d think so, since they have the same studio making both games.

  I don’t know if I’d count on the freeze issues. I could be wrong, but I always thought the teams were, for the most part, entirely different despite working in the same building.

    Biased reviews are pretty easy to spot. Owen Goode of Kotaku, for example, probably can be counted on giving an inflated review in exchange for having dibs on the first exclusive online review. It’s how EA operates — they’ve done it for at least 7 years. Also watch for reviews from guys who regularly attend EA events. Pretty hard to give a fair review after being wined and dined and playing in the ball pit.

      Yeah, I get that. I remember a couple years ago people were all up in IGN’s grill for giving some games better scores based on exclusivity. I’m sure they still are, I just don’t keep up with a lot of gaming websites anymore.
      Are you looking at simply the scores that’ll factor into Metacritic, etc., though? Lots of times games will get decent scores and if you read the write-ups it’s fairly easy to spot the draw backs. I assume they’re just downplayed, whether it’s because of that exclusivity you mentioned or simply because they haven’t had the game long enough to realize it’s a glaring, nagging issue that needs addressing.
      I really couldn’t give a specific example, but I am aware of that happening for sure. You just have to pay close attention. I mean, it’s unfortunate that it’s tough to find a good amount of unbiased reviews but it’s how the industry works nowadays. The only two things, in my opinion, that are really ever going to force change are Metacritic scores and sales. And I honestly can’t see the sales going down until there’s a /good/ competitor out there.

Looking forwrd to see how Infinity engine looks, and feels…I will definettly be playing the game on All-Madden to see if the ratings get tossed out the window like they have the last 8 years when playing on this level…
On smaller notes I really hope improvements will have been made to the following…
1. Acclerated clock (some of us like playing 15 minute full quarters with a 25 second run off…this option was taken out of last years game)
2. Realistic simulation stats (tired of seeing safetys play all 16 games and only record 22 tackles).
3. Multiple hit tackles and relaistic physics (hopefully infinity engine pulls this off
4. Better player builds for draft classes (Im not sure how many of you play franchise mode still…but when you draft players the builds are just horrible).

        nah, man, only difference really is the editing of players, playing multiple teams, and subtraction of online fantasy draft (at least they were the major ones I counted). go look up the game NFL Head Coach. That was Looman’s ‘baby’ and (this is just me guessing but) the coach mode is most likely going to follow the trend of that, with the added ability to play mostly the same Franchise mode. I still would like to be able to explore the mode in its entirely to be sure, though.

This is the last top-billed Madden of this gen, so we can conclude with definity that they suck; they sucked for the entire generation and we have no reason to believe that will stop sucking with the next.

For those people crying about how the coaches look and sideline players and coaches, knock it off. It is stupid people like you that keep the gameplay from getting better. EA wastes their time trying to cater to every tiny detail on a coaches face or player’s uniform rather than working on fixing or improving gameplay. That is why the game hasn’t progressed on the new gen Madden or NCAA. Oh, boo hoo this player doesn’t have the right gloves, and this one’s dreads aren’t long enough and the athletic trainer’s hair is more of a strawberry blonde, not bleach blonde.

As far as I’m concerned, EA could strip away the sideline people and other things if they make the actual gameplay better.

I already played the game and I promise you all that it is the same old garbage! Save your money the infinity engine is a fraud! I hope people are not dumb enough to fall for EA’S hype and bullshit for the eighth straight year! The game will be filled with bugs and glitches and no matter how many patches they make they will not be able to make it playable! We all know what’s going to happen. With an exception of a new tackling engine, one of the least of their prior concerns, the same issues that dogged them previously will continue to do so. Improper pocket protection for the QBs. Little to distinguish players outside of the QB position with the exception of speed. CPU quarterbacks that speed through reads and rarely find their playmakers. Over-powered kickoffs. No pass interference calls. Holding on every return if you even slightly move the slider to the right. EA just needs to take the time and implement each teams offense accurately. Give the standout receivers more animations or tune their aggression so they appear better… I got my football game this year already.

Ha there’s nothing intriguing about the Seahawks this year, even with the TO signing. It’s not like they are going anywhere. The Redskins at least have the RG3 angle.

  I got like 46 bucks for mine. But that was 2 weeks after it came out. Didn’t take me quite as long to decide to dump that garbage on someone else. I still feel guilty to this day though.
