First Footage of NBA Live 13

There are just six weeks until NBA Live 13 should be releasing yet EA Sports remains quiet about their intentions for the game. The biggest question of course is whether it’ll release at all or not – indications from EA certainly haven’t been encouraging even in that basic regard and retailers remain in the dark. Is could also be planned as a digital release though the company has refused comment on all matters.

Now though an extended gameplay video has leaked – the first opportunity to actually see Live 13 in action – with a full quarter of the Heat at Thunder. It’s pretty clear why the game is being hidden as the video will do nothing to enhance confidence towards the product’s prospects. Continue on to check it out and leave any thoughts in the comments!

(Update) To little surprise EA has already had Youtube remove the NBA Live 13 video – added a working one above but it’ll likely have the same fate. If you’d like to check it out it’s been uploaded to grab here too (that’s now dead as well). If this was an intentional leak by the company to gauge reaction and determine how to proceed – release it or cancel – they got their answer swiftly.

(Update #2) EA has continued to pull down the video from anywhere they can. Kotaku though is continuing to host it outside their reach.

This game looks truly amazing, can not wait to get my hands on it, graphics are amazing, presentation is amazing, servers will be amazing, the physics and everything are amazing, i absolutely can not wait. NBA Live is taking down 2k this year haha, this game looks 10 times better than 2k.

LOL! U cant be serious right?! LMAO!

  • Guset

Daley where u at?! LOL this game looks like complete garbage

    • Hungryandrew

      Daley hung himself

        LOL…He talked himself to death.

well i cant see it… copy right…. wtf

  • Really?

Honestly I’d rather play David Robinson Supreme Court Basketball than this crap, smh multiple times

  • Guset

Its 2012 and they throw in this garbage? LOL

  • Hungryandrew

I have a conspiracy theory. First off lets face the facts this is a near final build. EA purposely allowed this to get leaked to see how the public would react. Now well its damage control.

    • Crimson

      Agreed.

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

I called that minutes after the video hit. Makes too much sense.

      • hungryandrew

        I called it first madre

  • Skopin

It may not be ready to take the crown right now, but you’ll have to admit that it still looks about ten times better than what they’ve shown of NBA2K13.

    • Keith.

      Lol. Okay, Skopin.

      • Skopin

I’m going to guess that that comment was either you Crimson.

    • Ab-Joe

Yeah, if you prefer arcade-style basketball, then this definitely looks better than NBA 2K13.

      • Skopin

Not going to lie, I do like being chased down by Greg Oden on a fast break when I am Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook. Very not arcade at all.

    • sam

wow really???? oh cmon now. stop sucking ea’s dick, seriously…

  • Troy

This game would be great if it were still 2002. But come on! It’s 2012 people!!!

  • Bon

    DALEY!!!!! Where are you???

  • Ball so Soft

EA Sports commented on this video leak,
“The video appears to be captured from a pre-alpha build months ago and is not an official EA SPORTS release. It does not represent a final build or feature set for NBA LIVE.”

    • CSaintSwag

i could have told you that they wouldn’t of release a game like that, it will look much better than that.

      • hungryandrew

        You’re smoking crack.

    • Mason Drews

LOL Live is done, stick a fork in em’!

    • Matt

Exactly the same thing they said about Elite when footage was shown. Turned out to be the final build

      • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Yep. Its a standard PR response.

  • Hold Me Back

Dang. Cant find it. Was it that bad? Lol

  • Marshawn lynch

Does anyone release the guy playing this game, does not know one thing about basketball, he is terrible, this game is a work in progress ea said this a video from the beginning stages, and by the way the computer in nba 2k12 does the same shit.

  • Not Impressed at all

Lebron hasnt had his beard like that for like 4-5 months… NBA LATE 13.

  • DalPal

they do have lebrons hairline correct.

  • Danny

Its amazing how you people think Live 13 is bad, but yet every year people bash 2k for making a shitty game year in and year out, im ready for a damn change.

  • daley7199

Damn you Pasta LOL…….Video removed before I could see it.

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Kotaku is still hosting it. Seems to be the only place EA hasn’t been able to get it yanked.

      • MY_WORD

It’s a reason they haven’t yanked it. I bet they bring another video next week explaining this is what they have been working on. Im not falling for this marketing stunt.

  • Sniper

LMAO! You got to be kidding me? They need to just CANCEL that bullshit right now! Who in they’re right mind would pay 60 bucks for that shit? Drop it down to 10 bucks then maybe…….I doubt it though.

    • George

I’d rather lick Rosie O’Donnell’s ass crack than pay $60 for this game.

  • jz

They just changed the name again…. NBA Garbage!

  • jz

Sadly these are the idiots at EA that give us our football game.

    • Hungryandrew

Even Madden is better than this.

  • Hungryandrew

NBA LIVE 13= Teardrops and Closed Casket

  • Reckoner

Despite what seems to be poor game play, I was quite pleased with the team logos during the choosing of teams. No joke.

  • AndyMP

That video was not impressive. I just hope 2k never stop making basketball games.

  • basketcrazy

    i liked:
1)players are slim and move swift.
2)Mike Breen is my favorite commentator.
3)Lighting looks nice from broadcast camera.
    4)Receiving pass animations look realistic

    i don’t like everything else.
    Especially:
    1)Lebron skating
2)Some passing animations are from the PS1 period. Some look pretty cool though.
3)Shooting feels like it’s accelerated!Signature style is bad.
4)Wade run THROUGH the defender to make the dunk.Poor collition system
    5)Rebounding players through the roof.

This is poor but shows some potential. Not to reach NBA 2K but to be a good alternative basketball fix in 2 or 3 years time.
I would like to have a much improved version of this work.

  • societydmg

    Wow……I’m mean, Wow…I can’t believe how awful………Wow…….I don’t have words.

  • Clos

At least the presentation looks nice lol

  • O-Dog

the sad part is that if EA did release this, EA fan boy would actually buy it. Makes you wonder how much better football games would be if 2k was still in the mix.

To be honest, the game doesn’t look bad…like, REALLY BAD. It looks like Live 2010…but that’s kind of the problem. Outside of the menu and presentation package, the gameplay looks like a game from 2+ years ago. And given the fact that Live will have to be $60, I’m not sure many will but outside of A) Live enthusiasts B) People tired of 2K for whatever reason, and C) Dudes looking for sort of a fresh start or casual-playing game.

But this has cemented that right now 2k is on top of basketball and I’ll be buying 2k13. EA’s next chance to compete is with the next generation of consoles and I wouldn’t be surprised if EA truly had that in their minds all along. They had two options: go all-out or stay conservative and prepare for next-gen.

But at least it doesn’t look BAD/CANCEL-worthy. It just looks like a 2-year old game to me, with new bells and whistles…
